Ayup, cheers for the demo, I had the Behringer System 15 for Christmas, my first proper modular adventure and loving it, got a lot to learn (I do have a Moog Grandmother though) I have ordered the BEHRINGER OSCILLATOR MODULE 1004 to hopefully add a different flavour. The 1047 seems like it could be a good partner. Regards Tim.
I just picked up 1003 about a week ago, now I'm ready for the 1047 after this video. Side note, seeing the THX 1138 poster up in your studio warmed my heart, primarily because all that gear you have is truly an "Electronic Labyrinth"!
It looks you are working on a weaving machine, from the future!! This module sounds good, I am very tempted to extend my semi modular synth to the modular world starting by this filter :)
Great demo Robin. Would like to see the full ensemble of 2500 modules working together. When you get them all you're gonna have to do a full on 70s prog track. 🤪
Hey Robin, cool video! On forums a lot of people say the classic 2500 sound is to run the 1047 into the filter amp modular. Suggest trying this if your curious, pretty sure you have both. ✌🏼
I'm thinking of getting some of these B - 2500 modules, I mean I've wanted a 2500 since I was 10 (in the 70's) and I've only ever seen ONE actual 2500 module in my life and that was ages ago.
39:20 I had to take a break and listen to King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight for completely scientific comparison reasons, of course. The sound is a pretty close match. Do you think keyboards of that era used this type of circuit to make that sound?
Actually, even my sq-1 with variable gate length doesn't get tight enough. I always end up running the trigger through an AD slope at minimum settings, then I only get one kink on top
Great review. Did you happen to notice any noise issues when you had the 1047 in the niftycase? I’ve had two 1047 modules both with very noticeable noise. I’m just not sure if the case has something to do with it (also Niftycase).
Sounds really good. Btw - from the manual :- RESONANCE (NORM/LIM) - This sliding switch lets you choose between normal resonance mode (NORM) and limiting mode (LIM), which limits the height of a filter’s resonant peak. The LIM setting prevents circuit overload when focusing a filter on a strong harmonic or fundamental frequency, especially at high Q settings on the RESONANCE (Q) knob. In other situations, the LIM setting can result in a very low output signal, and so the NORM setting is usually preferred.
Hey MM - enjoyed the video, thank you. BTW, where did you get the souped up Nifty Case? I have a Nifty Case but it is white, without the red and black rings round the cv and mod outputs. I have Nifty Case envy!
Hey Robin - Very interesting module and excellent explanation and demo. The multiple outs is cool. I have the FiltAmp and your video on that helped me to get more out of it :-) You have a few filters now. Do you have a favourite?
@@MoltenMusicTech thanks so much you make really good videos man! Congrats and thanks for the tip I will see if I can find anything for my iPad that is similar if you know anything please let me know! Thanks once again!
the phase cancellation issues you have experienced with two ARP 1004 OSCs can be solved by replacing them with Moog 921 OSCs. The 1004s were originally designed for the modulation of other modules. ARP had (I think) a 4 OSC module in order to deliver stabil phase sounds. Watch Shoebridge‘s demystifying clamping video here on yt! it will explain this better.
@@MoltenMusicTech your video is called "Plugging in the 2500." It's a 2h 28mins video. Check out 1h 27mins 30secs! As I said the (Moog) Behringer 921 OSCs with itheir v-trigger sync inputs will solve the phase cancellation issue perfectly (you might want to insert a phase inversion function though).
No, I don't think so. Besides the original of this would have come out 30-40 years before Mutable Instruments existed so if anything Rings takes from this module rather than the other way around. But I don't think they have anything to do with each other.
Thanks for demoing pinging the filter - that's exactly what I needed to make a decision on this one. That bandpass resonance is beautiful!
Glad I could help!

Radigue said that the 1047 was the secret weapon of the 2500.
Do you know where she said it? It would be nice to know… cheers!

The 4 outputs makes this incredibly flexible :)

thx for the review. just picked one of these up in part because of this review.
my god, that resonance clipping sounds crazy juicy!
26:33 i love that reverb! Where’s it coming from?
I don't remember exactly but it's probably the Erica Synths Pico DSP

Yes,same here!They are beautiful! : )
Awesome Filter. Thanks, Robin !

Thanks for the great content and sounds, Robin. Tip: Use a sharp envelope for pinging, then you will only get one excitation.
Yes, I need a keyboard or sequencer with triggers rather than gates
Actually, even my sq-1 with variable gate length doesn't get tight enough. I always end up running the trigger through an AD slope at minimum settings, then I only get one kink on top
for a second there, i thought something was microphoning on the eurorack, also that filter sounds pretty darn good!
My one came in the post today....good lord, it's a keeper.
No glasses Robin....ding dong.

Thanks. No I haven't noticed any noise as such but i don't listen very closely.
Thanks' for posting!I 'personally' get a lot out of your demo/reviews'!Keep-up the great work! : )

Yes, that’s what it says in the manual however all it ever did was kill the signal.
You can ping almost any filter. Ping it with an envelope and send that same envelope to the frequency. Kick drums.
I love these #behringer 2500 modules, they have the Arp tone i know and love
Easiest way to take the film covers off knobs is with a piece of blutack , blutack is also good for getting the dust out of places too.
Good tip!
Fantastic video. Thank you.
Great demo! It's ok to turn the reverb off sometimes...
Don't be ridiculous
Big exploration of the boiling electric kettle emulation settings.
Hey MM - enjoyed the video, thank you. BTW, where did you get the souped up Nifty Case? I have a Nifty Case but it is white, without the red and black rings round the cv and mod outputs. I have Nifty Case envy!
I painted it and added some Befaco nuts
@@MoltenMusicTech Oh, okay. I wonder if I could do that? Did you take its internal gubbins out before painting it?
I unscrewed it - it's on the end of my review of the NiftyCase
Thanks. @@MoltenMusicTech I shall check it out.

Jove every time although GRIT is a keeper
@@MoltenMusicTech I thought it might be :-) So many filters, so little time. And money...
A very interesting video, thanks. What is your screen/setup for monitoring the wavefrom? It looks very effective
It's a Surface Pro running the Melda Productions oscilloscope plugin
Is this another from the Molten Modules line? Get in! 😉
Sounds amazing
you can use a drum loops or complex osc
Timestamps would be helpful. Thanks for the video!
Great demo. What oscilloscope are you using ? Is it a VST plugin ?
Thanks- Melda Productions
Thanks, how does one learn to "play" a synth? , hope that is not too silly.
i mean there are a thousand way to do it.. and depends also on the synth.. can u specify?
Great Video, what software do you use for the oscilloscope?
Melda Productions oscilloscope
Thanks for the video! What app do you use in your iPad?
It's a Microsoft Surface Pro and the plugin is from Melda Productions

Nice, can i ask you what is the oscilloscope app?🙏🙏🤙
Melda production plugins
@@MoltenMusicTech 🙏🙏🙏 thank you, very nice.i will whek it ahah,im Looking for an oscilloscope soon longtime...and yes, this one looks pretty nice.👌🤙🤙🤙
I wish there were more than 1 input...
Why these cheap reverb tails added to the demos?
There’s no need to be rude about the reverb 🤣

Great Video!
Which Vcos did you use?
Greetings Mick
Nano Ona and Befaco Even VCO
Someone is asking for a S&H and a spring reverb 😁🥰
at about 10:35 play time all the dogs in the hood were howling; molten...molten...molten. Peace...
The Moog knobs makes me confused
Wicked
does not make sense to demo a module with reverb on it
Yes it does - it makes sense to place it in a musical context
It's okay about the outside noises. Just don't get your studio run over by a tractor like Keith Emerson!
First comment! Wooot! Just kidding. Actually quite interested in this here filter.
At $100 or less, these Behringer 2500 (and moog) modules are a steal IMHO
Just buy a doepfer filter. They are also priced well, built like tanks, and wont disintegrate into tiny plastic bits in a year.
so basically, a Rings.
No, I don't think so. Besides the original of this would have come out 30-40 years before Mutable Instruments existed so if anything Rings takes from this module rather than the other way around. But I don't think they have anything to do with each other.
hey you're right@@MoltenMusicTech -- this was before i knew anything about rings or the such. Thank you for what you do!
