Yeah, I'm on the east side, & I'm super nervous. Ian already destroyed our home just a couple years ago, & we were BARELY able to fix it (well enough, not even completely) after fighting the insurance company for a year with a public adjuster & lawyer. My daughter & I were displaced & separated from my husband that entire year (he had to stay in the nasty, moldy house) We can't handle that again. I imagine thousands of others feel the same way. So many homes were ruined where I live. I pray that, somehow we're okay over here in the East, but also that everyone on the West are okay too. I can't stand seeing people lose everything like this. 😭
Getting off of Pine Island tomorrow and heading east. Hope Bokeelia homes will stand strong. Lots of us sand bagged and boarded up for any surge prevention we can mitigate. Helene gave us 3 feet inside our home. We just gutted! Some aren’t done clearing from that one yet! Prayers to all.
My original comment got deleted, but no, it's not just "hurricane season". It went from "nothing" to "50/50" shot at development from nothing to possible category 5. Meteorologists have already used the "100 year storm" story to confuse people and it's working. Don't accept the gaslighting
