2:10 This is indeed the concept but it’s actually the other way around. If you hit an enemy with the first weapon, then the other one's IAS and base speed come into play. If you miss, then the first weapon’s IAS is still used to calculate the speed of the second one. You can think of it this way: by the grace of inertia swinging in the air doesn’t hinder the attack speed, while if you land a blow, you have then to regather your strength to make a new hit. Overall, I guess the impact of this is rather insignificant as the calculation resets with each sequence of two hits and the frenzy attack speed is high on its own. There is also a weapon speed bug thing while dual wielding. Sicktoid has a detailed vid on it. Although in case of your setup it won’t be practical to use it and it won’t yield too much anyways. As for maxing Berserk, I believe generally it’s helpful to have a portion of your phys damage converted to magic. And the fact that the gameplay seems now smoother is the best confirmation to it. Yet, since your merc is equipped with reaper’s toll, keep in mind that most of the time mobs have their phys res reduced by 50% (50 becomes 0 that is). And when it comes to certain types of them, their phys res may end up lower than their magic res. Of course, as you said, the majority of the mobs cause you already no problem and you make adjustments to deal with the pesky ones. I remember being surprised when my bowazon did more damage to Baal, using multishot than a lvl 30 magic arrow - all because he was amped. Btw thanks for your upload, Kruggers. Few D2 players enjoy SP without ladder only rws. I heard lately that self-imposed limitations increase creativity…Dope, isn’t it?😎
mm interesting about the attack speed. Frenzy is one of the more complicated skills it seems and it's a little hard to get good info on it. But yeah, I specifically avoided the weapon speed bug b/c in this build I'm switching weapons all the time to teleport. Also, I've found that relying purely on my merc's reaper's toll to deal with phys immunes just isn't that great. In fact, on the axe version of this build I used lacerator, and even relying on the amp damage from that (-100% phys res) I found I still struggled quite a bit with phys immunes. Which seems rather strange to me! But I've done a lot of testing on this character and the points in berserk really seem to help.
How did I miss this video??? So you managed to put your Frenzy Barb together. Very nice! :) You went with dual SL instead of SL and Schaefer's(have you found the Schaefer yet or you are still looking for it)? Makes sense for speed. I never found a god forsaken Stormlash, but I would give this build a try! Looks dope. Static Field basically halves Baal's health in one or two hits, plus add the 81% crushing blow and you have a total overkill when it comes to bosses. I actually thought about the magic synergy with Berserk when I put together my barb, tested it too, but I did not like the result. I think that light damage adds a bit more than we think. I was using axes though so after I got the Lacerator immunes were no problem so I just specced out of Berserk completely. My problem with the Death Cleaver setup was not having too much damage(at least compared to the Beast) so enemies took a few more hits to kill, so keep repairing that Berserker Axe was just annoying.
Yeah I never found the schaefer's lol. Funny, I tried death cleaver/lacerator without the berserk synergy and I found it a little ineffective. I'm thinking about re-speccing and maybe doing just 10 points with that combo. Yeah beast would be sick on this build. I would love to have famine on the offhand too maybe. Lots of choices for axes. I even have a half crazy idea of using a runemaster on off hand, maybe with some ias/res or ed/res jewels in it, plus would save me a ring slot, so I could use a bk ring or another res/leech ring of some kind. Not sure it would be any better in the end though lol.
@@kruggers1329 Nope, they would not be better. :) I tired both Famine and Runemaster with some cool dmg and ias jewels. Beast was still much better. And considering that your dual Stormlash is just as fast as my Beast+Lacerator, nah, your setup is better than both the Famine and Runemaster.

Ehhhh noice. Im a noob when it comes to D2, so thanks for dumbing it down :P I like that your trying different things instead of following a cookie cutter build! The awesome variety of talents/classes/equipment are what makes it fun to me :) and building your own.
Looks like a strong build with pro stylepoints. I usually go with Treachery on my frenzy barbs for stacked IAS, huge res, and curse reduction of 79% with lawbringer phaseblade and hopefully grief phaseblade, but I have used many different weapons.
I just got an eth scourge with 4 sockets and am thinking about Oath for the main hand and a Lawbringer scepter for the offhand or even a legendary mallet. But mallet is slow… I like the mace style too.
@@H3NKS i dont remember if the bug still applies, but I would use phaseblade even on macebarb. In d2 legacy, making items with auras require insane repair costs, no go with a frenzy barb lol
Wow that’s nuts i JUST started my first frenzy barb on single player a few days ago. I like that ur builds use self found gear and not 20 high runes. I’m glad you talked about the Beserk synergy because I was wondering how it works and if it’s worth it. U ready for d2r?!
Yeah almost every frenzy build guide I've read out there either completely ignores the berserk synergy or explicitly says not to use it. However, I think the berserk synergy is key to this build (meaning my particular build). Magic damage is very powerful in the game, and as I said most monsters (I think this is true) have lower magic resistance than physical resistance--even including monsters that are not actually physically immune. For example, burning souls have something like 90% physical resistance in hell mode, so they are very tanky for melee characters. Their magic resistance, however, is only 50% in hell mode. The berserk synergy does involve some major trade offs in terms of overall physical damage and life leech, and skill points, but I found those effects more easily mitigated by gear choices / stat allocation. However! If I were to use a sword build and equip azurewrath as my main weapon, I might do the exact opposite and pump physical damage synergies. Basically it's a tradeoff between using skill points or gear choices to deal with physical immunes.
@@kruggers1329 yup I hear u. It’s true monsters have way less magic resistance if any at all and I think all monsters in hell have at least 50% phys resistance so that’s why a little magic damage goes a long way and maybe why azurewrath and lawbringer are so good
im going on year 5 without arreats, so you're not alone on that.... dropped like 5 ber runes, zod, and a few tc87 uniques but still waiting on arreats and homunculus lol
If you can tolerate the inconvenience, just buy and chug a bunch of thawing and antidote potions every 5-10 minutes, or between runs, and your resistance will go from sketchy to pretty damn good.
I really like your videos, but to speak for the plugy people: anni/torch isn't "cheating", if it were, then your muling programs (which are not in the vanilla SP game) would be cheating (clearly the muling does make the game a lot easier than if you didn't have it). I really like your videos and your personality, I just wanted to respond to that one part. (Maybe you were joking about that comment? It was hard to tell).
Yea you know what I **do** stay up all night swinging my legs like a school girl back to back thinking "when is Kruggers gonna upload already??" Jk love ya king
The king is back. Life just isn't the same without your style in it.
this hypothetical set of humans who wait anxiously each day for a new video of yours:
I number myself among them
Ill have to interrupt my session of classical music for a new kruggers video. Well done
4 years without finding an Arreat's is so brutal.
Interested to see how the sword variant works out.
I actually miss the old pc's turbine sound:) GG helm btw!
Kruggers the d2 king! All hail
