Blood Gloves recipe I forgot to add: Nef+Perf Ruby+Any Jewel+Magic Gloves/Sharkskin Gloves/Vampirebone Gloves Also Open Wounds doesn't do percentage, it does like 800 damage over 8 seconds at level 50 and 2000 at level 90. You can also farm Pindleskin by taking the Nihlathak portal by Anya to kill him which is super easy and pretty good with the Find Item skill. Another big budget weapon you can use is Oath (Shael/Pul/Mal/Lum in swords/axes/maces)
I really love playing barb in d2, barb was my main back in D2 20 years ago. But to make my life easier this time, I started with a sorc and gathering barb items right now.
One thing I like to remind people of for barbs, battle cry is decrepify light it can totally take the place of decrep until you get reapers toll or lawbringer. Great skill that is definitely a 1 point wonder but overrides curses. Its one or the other. Also thank you for warning people about the critical and deadly strike not overlapping intuitively. LOVE this guide! It reminds me of the good old days of The Amazon Basin forums where people would post their single player, hardcore, untwinked journeys of their builds, especially of Spearazons (not java)and barbs since they rely so much in gear. So many things that people on SC ladder and online take for granted have a crucial use if you have no option to trade or twink. I love how you convey the fact that you just need to start using all these unassuming drops and appreciate their incrementally powerful properties until the long slog rewards you with something better. Im getting sick of Debrunskis and Llamas saying ‘this is junk’ or ‘trash’ and jumping straight to upper level and elite, cookie cutter array of gear.

Extremely useuful, thank you. Playing on Nintendo Switch, my barb is 62 atm and I've been levelling + mf'ing with NM mephisto and also act 5 eldritch/shenk. I know it's pretty masochistic to start out with a barb but I've played for years and years so the challenge makes a nice change. Despite all my experience I didn't even realise that Fade (the assa skill and from treachery) reduced physical damage taken lol
i also startd selffound with a barb. frenzy was viable in hell with cannot be frozen and 2 aldurs rhytm. used my shouts(taunt, howl, etc) to CC strong mobs . now he is respected to berserk and he crushes the complete content with big MF!
Angelic Combo (Amu + Ring) will massively help your Attack Rating, hence your CTH, and it perfectly fits in your low budget approach. My Barb is wearing it, too, he is level 80 and all but budget (Dual Oath with good rolls). He is also wearing Smoke and Tal helm (I occasionally change it with Vampire Gaze when encountering Moon Lords, they beat me to pulp otherwise). Also, I have Normal Blessed Aim Merc, so I have a very high CTH even in A5 hell. He is also wearing Reaper's Toll, which is better than Battle Cry, however, I have to admit that Reaper's Toll is not longer tbc as budget.

Cool guide. I beat the game with double Passion RW in Champion Sword and Balrog Blade. Ran hell countess over and over again until I got the runes. The crowd control from blinding and scaring enemies in invaluable.
Lawbringer is one of the most underrated runewords in the game for melee classes. I beat my first run through of hell with my Frenzy Barb using Lawbringer and Crescent Moon.
@@eroica808 there are some really good axes out there. I am using a pair of Gimmershred (I think that’s how you spell it). They are super fast and do a ton of damage. One issue with melee though is that all unique melee weapons are outclassed by runewords.

Got lucky and found 2 exceptional unique weapons and made me a Duress Armor. Running act 3 NM as a level 63 on p7 decently smoothly. This guide will help a lot im sure once I hit Hell. Will probably farm a lot of Mephisto etc before heading there though.
Unbending will is a good budget weapon but you can also use obedience yourself. It's an excellent weapon . I also like lionheart as an alternative to treachery.
For chaos sanctuary seal popping, go clockwise, kill third seal boss, run back to the square in front of grand viziers wing, then up around diablos circle back tot he last seal and pop it, a few more seconds for a bunch of free drop chances.
With sunder charm you can skip beserk and dump more points into find item. I’ve got a singer barb on ladder. Would switch to frenzy but im only a jah away from enigma.
Love your videos about BARBARIAN ( because a true BARBARIAN is a CAPSLOCK only BARBARIAN. ;) ) So far i am lvl 59 in Nightmare Act 5..The only good thing though i got from NM Belial is Stealskull which i gave to my Merc and with Insight he reached 79%MF...My MF is 32% and since i try to farm NM Belial with Barbarian to get the budget gear for Hell let;s just say it is a pain in the but because NM Belial with my MF simply refuses to give me anything with CannotBeenFrozen....Keep up the good work,looking forward for the Amazon guides and budget gear farming. :)
Thank you! If you can get your hands on a 3x ptopaz helm or 4 ptopaz armor you might be able to quickly farm mephisto with crushing blow (2x black weapons for example). Hope you find your cannot be frozen soon!
I'd spec to warcry around 30 . Night mare is cake. Gets harder in hell but you can get pretty easily get through act 3 hell. Then around 70 respec . But you can farm hell countess easily with warcry .

I have honor flail and a 3 socketed aldurs... Perfect gems for everything and all low runes up to some mid with minimum 2 quantity... What I should socket into aldurs?? Was thinking 2 gems for +150 attack rating and a rune for atk speed... Or I don't know... Don't have raven frost yet... I use spirit shroud for no frozen effect... So I can't use treachery yet (I have one in a mercenary) but let's focus in the sockets of aldurs gate... What's your recommendation... Thanks in advance
I think frenzy does hit up to two targets and while that’s not really “aoe” it isn’t single target either. Not a big deal really, just thought I’d point that out.
I started leveling HC Barb as main. Its hard but fun. Currently level 65. I need to get a proper weapon on it though, kinda limits my progress atm. Atm I have bonesnap and going WW build. I will upgrade it and see if it goes better.
Nice think about poison jabzon in hell is it heath dose physical and poison damage. Poison's are rare immunity and phsical on it own should be good once last bit gear got and start pumping the two attack skills. Then dump some extra in to passive dodge crits javelin 6 left to the middle should be high damage and survivalist
Dude I have two Aldur's rhythm with 3 sockets each. What's runes should I put in for optimal build. Right now I put 2 Shaels & 1 Eth for each one of them.
I would recommend using an IAS calculator and see how much IAS you need to hit some breakpoints. That'll determine how many shaels you will want to use. I'm a fan of the eth rune as well since attack rating and chane to hit can be a pain without angelic set and if lower level.
I play every ladder reset for the first week or so then go back to offline once the bots kick in. I haven't really been playing online with release though because playing solo is better on single player and I'm waiting for ladder reset to attempt my first 99 with the boys.
Currently spec frenzy I like the build. But in nightmare it’s tough. Following the guide for singer barb what’s your thoughts? Can I still magic find because the war cry you don’t need dex or worry about hitting because magic always hits.
I am lvling a frenzy barb atm and i'm having issues with attack rating and i feel like switching to the debuff shout is wonkey. Does "ignore targets defense" also make me hit more often? As, defense, or rather, "armour" is the one that i lowers the hit probability right?
That's correct, ignore target's defense will allow you to hit much more often. You can also farm an angelic ring and amulet and use that since the set bonuses gives the ring a huge attack rating boost.

However, i would like to have more out of my Atma's Scarab amu. I run the blessed aim on my act 2 merc also. Just to make sure i allways hit 95% hit chance, webben when debuffed.

I'm planning to do this in a scourge base - just because i've got single Stormlash waiting for me at level 82... Do you think this combo would be viable ? Or mayby you have some other idea's ?

If you're killing efficiently with your maces, you don't have to switch if you don't want to, but the phase blades might be better. The only downside is your lawbringer's cold damage will shatter corpses so you won't be able to find item as much.
Hi Nexius, i feel like i know how to beat everthing with barbarian, thank very much for that. But i would like to know, where to farm the "Raven Frost"? Its hard to get freezed over and over again.
Nightmare mephisto, diablo, baal, and if you're able to handle hell, hell andariel and mephisto are great places. You can also use other cannot be frozen items like duriel's shell and spirit shroud which drop from the same places.

So I'm playing assassin ATM lvl 89. And i find the game so .... Since i don't have teleport. When I see my friends that plays sorc and can insta tele to Places in 10 sec but i have to spend 4 mins running there it's just.... and I even have the assassin speed talent.. But then again having monsters immune to your attack is just also as ..... And I've heard sorc has even more places where they can't do anything due to immunities.. So then I was thinking of barb since he use melee attacks i take it's like a paladin you almost have no immunes since he is melee or am I wrong ? and when he use that frenzy thing it looks like he run so fast. So is it working properly or is it just like assassin...? Also I've found IK weapon and some or the set on my assassin so could use that for a barb but not sure if it's any good since IK weapon is 2hand? And that find extra items on dead monsters looks very cool but is it doing s lot of different or no? I'm playing online battlenet. What I'm kinda trying to get at here is: will i feel with the barb wauw this is a lot faster then assassin and almost as fast as sorc to get around and wauw almost no immunities and that extra item find ability makes it so i find way, way more items on general and since of hauwl i can just pass all mobs and again get places fast ? Or no it will be way, way worse then assassin / sorc in all aspect ?
You won't have an issue with immunities as barb, but he's definitely slower than assassin and sorc unless you have enigma, then he becomes one of the most efficient in the game. If you plan to use IK, that's more a whirlwind weapon since frenzy doesn't use 2-handed weapons. Find Item definitely makes a difference. You're not going to find an amazing all the time, just like killing a normal monster, but it has made a difference in rejuvenation potions, items to sell for gold, runes and the occasional gg item. Overall I would say assassin and sorc is better especially in budget gear if you're fine with farming specific areas. Immunities suck with classes like sorc and sin, but if you limit yourself to specific areas, they're way better. For example, the assassin does best farming the cow level and eldritch/shenk. You can get a lot of good runes from the cow level. Cold sorc only wants to do Andariel, Mephisto, Ancient Tunnels, and maybe Pindleskin and Mausoleum. You wouldn't want to run the ancient tunnels on the sin because they are mostly like immune, but you could probably do the pit.

@@jarlfisk Sorc is better because they just farm high level areas where there are no immunes. My MF geared blizz sorc takes about a minute to create a game, teleport and kill hell andariel + meph. Sorc move faster and they kill faster. And when you need to kill a boss 500+ times for each good unique item then you want to spend less time moving and more time killing the things you need to kill 🧙♀️ As for barbarians; going from assassin (the least gear dependant class) to barb (the single most gear dependant class) is going to feel terrible. You could just spec a sorc Frozen orb/fireball and get some decent gear for your merc and you can clear any area in the game faster and safer with sluggish gear than a barb wearing the best gear possible ever could.
Dude, your barb guides are awesome. I just got to hell, level 60 ww barb. I have upgraded bonesnap, wearing Duress armor, finding hell a little bit hard right now, my damage seems lowish. Do I just to need to level up more and level up my howl? Is IK maul + armor better than bonesnap + Duress?
IK set is better in the sense that it's a higher level set. If we assume you mean the body armor when you say "IK maul + armor" and not the whole set, then Duress is likely to be better armor (though an IK Maul has 2 sockets and 35+ Crushing Blow by itself). Having additional pieces grants the maul a specific elemental damage, and with enough of them, nothing in Hell will be immune to your attacks. Two warnings when considering an IK barbarian, though... First, the maul and body armor both require a level of 76+ each, and 225/232 strength respectively. Second, IK body armor is EXTREMELY rare, and might only drop from Hell Baal, Hell Nihlathak, or a monster in an area level 85 location (at about the rate of 1 in some 7 to 8 digit number). As for your level, you can comfortably farm experience in Nightmare Baal until 70-75. I would suggest you get to at least 70.
@@gmaster1991 Thanks. I just looked at IK set in detail and it actually has a lot of bonuses. I already have the belt. If I can get the maul, gloves, and boots I think that would be a nice improvement. So I guess back to farming with my lvl 80 trapsin lol. I love playing barb, but man it's so gear dependant.
@@inrptn If you're looking for a strong weapon for your barb (and I assume you use Mace Mastery), you could try crafting Hit Power weapons with Magic Ogre Mauls and Thunder Mauls (these specifically because you can't up crafted items like you can with uniques or rares). All it costs you is a Perfect Sapphire, a Tir rune, and any Jewel you want. You might get a very high enhanced damage roll or Barbarian skill levels if you're lucky.
Matt has great advice here. IK maul can be worth using, but the strength cost is hefty without the IK gloves/belt. As Matt mentioned, I also recommend farming nightmare baal until at least level 70. The levels make a huge difference in chance to hit, and will get you closer to 88 on howl without having to invest so many points. If you can get at least 85 combined total for Howl, you might be able to safely farm hell pits for all of your gear since I think 85 is the number to scare away non-boss group monsters. Nightmare Baal can also drop IK maul, which he actually did for my brother the other day lol. If you can find a Ribcracker, you should be able to farm pits even better, and then beat hell entirely if you have the Lum and Pul to upgrade it.
I would put an extra Shael in so you can hit 7 frames on your frenzy attack speed. That will also save you from having to equip 20% IAS gloves, allowing you to use something else like blood gloves that didnt roll with 20% IAS, dracs, soul drainer, etc
Perfect timing! I’ve managed to make it to Level 80 with your guide. Just hit the palace on act 2 (farmed a lot). So with pit farming what is your MF% should I not worry that it’s like 0-25% or whatever as I feel swapping my gear for MF gear will get me murdered quickly!
You might be able to sacrifice a little bit for a big boost in mf, such as replacing lore helm with a 3x ptopaz helm or goldwrap for a belt and chance guards for gloves since the blood gloves and string of ears aren't as important as res from treachery/smoke and good weapons. You could also use 2x Gull or Ali Baba instead of 2x Spirit/warcry spears, but might have to invest more points into Find Item to make it worthwhile. Lots of customization for sure!
It's not about hardship or being cowardly. It's just a simple fact that compared to every other class in the game, the barb is the slowest and weakest solo, at least until geared, then the pitzerker build is one of the best builds!

I think you're confusing the Howl skill for Berserk. If you lookat my left skill, I have Frenzy there. Look at 2:42 for example where you can see me striking twice. 😅

Best budget weapon is butchers pupil, such anunderratedd weapon. If you get the runes to up it its definitely worth it.

Tretchery was a game changer - took forever to clear Nightmare Chaos using an honor and black - added treatchery and was able to do it WAY easier

I had absolutly no idea that Howl scaled with my level... that explains why I was unable to fear anything in Hell. Since I only had 1 point in it.

I'd spec to warcry around 30 . Night mare is cake. Gets harder in hell but you can get pretty easily get through act 3 hell. Then around 70 respec . But you can farm hell countess easily with warcry .

I have honor flail and a 3 socketed aldurs... Perfect gems for everything and all low runes up to some mid with minimum 2 quantity... What I should socket into aldurs?? Was thinking 2 gems for +150 attack rating and a rune for atk speed... Or I don't know... Don't have raven frost yet... I use spirit shroud for no frozen effect... So I can't use treachery yet (I have one in a mercenary) but let's focus in the sockets of aldurs gate... What's your recommendation... Thanks in advance

I think frenzy does hit up to two targets and while that’s not really “aoe” it isn’t single target either. Not a big deal really, just thought I’d point that out.
I started leveling HC Barb as main. Its hard but fun. Currently level 65. I need to get a proper weapon on it though, kinda limits my progress atm. Atm I have bonesnap and going WW build. I will upgrade it and see if it goes better.

Nice think about poison jabzon in hell is it heath dose physical and poison damage. Poison's are rare immunity and phsical on it own should be good once last bit gear got and start pumping the two attack skills. Then dump some extra in to passive dodge crits javelin 6 left to the middle should be high damage and survivalist

Dude I have two Aldur's rhythm with 3 sockets each. What's runes should I put in for optimal build. Right now I put 2 Shaels & 1 Eth for each one of them.
I would recommend using an IAS calculator and see how much IAS you need to hit some breakpoints. That'll determine how many shaels you will want to use. I'm a fan of the eth rune as well since attack rating and chane to hit can be a pain without angelic set and if lower level.
Do you mostly play online or offline characters? Do you usually trade when you gear up?
I play every ladder reset for the first week or so then go back to offline once the bots kick in. I haven't really been playing online with release though because playing solo is better on single player and I'm waiting for ladder reset to attempt my first 99 with the boys.

Currently spec frenzy I like the build. But in nightmare it’s tough. Following the guide for singer barb what’s your thoughts? Can I still magic find because the war cry you don’t need dex or worry about hitting because magic always hits.
Yep singer barb can farm hell mode no problem.

I am lvling a frenzy barb atm and i'm having issues with attack rating and i feel like switching to the debuff shout is wonkey. Does "ignore targets defense" also make me hit more often? As, defense, or rather, "armour" is the one that i lowers the hit probability right?
That's correct, ignore target's defense will allow you to hit much more often. You can also farm an angelic ring and amulet and use that since the set bonuses gives the ring a huge attack rating boost.

However, i would like to have more out of my Atma's Scarab amu. I run the blessed aim on my act 2 merc also. Just to make sure i allways hit 95% hit chance, webben when debuffed.
Hey, i'm lvling my barb atm - just completed a1 hell - and i'm wondering what do you think about runeword Honor ? I'm planning to do this in a scourge base - just because i've got single Stormlash waiting for me at level 82... Do you think this combo would be viable ? Or mayby you have some other idea's ?
Honor is a great budget runeword, but I never tried it in hell mode so I can't say for certain if it's viable in hell for at least pit farming.
Ive beaten Hell with Honor Phase Blade, it works pretty well in a Knout or Scourge as well.

If you're killing efficiently with your maces, you don't have to switch if you don't want to, but the phase blades might be better. The only downside is your lawbringer's cold damage will shatter corpses so you won't be able to find item as much.

Nightmare mephisto, diablo, baal, and if you're able to handle hell, hell andariel and mephisto are great places. You can also use other cannot be frozen items like duriel's shell and spirit shroud which drop from the same places.
I prefer ettin axes rune master , w8ing for Lo for getting my ba grief
How to accommodate a build that depends on gear with MF gear for this to be efficient?
3x Ptopaz helm, chance guard gloves, goldwrap belt are some great mf items to start with.

meph doesent take long to do if you know the map tricks.
So I'm playing assassin ATM lvl 89. And i find the game so .... Since i don't have teleport. When I see my friends that plays sorc and can insta tele to Places in 10 sec but i have to spend 4 mins running there it's just.... and I even have the assassin speed talent.. But then again having monsters immune to your attack is just also as ..... And I've heard sorc has even more places where they can't do anything due to immunities.. So then I was thinking of barb since he use melee attacks i take it's like a paladin you almost have no immunes since he is melee or am I wrong ? and when he use that frenzy thing it looks like he run so fast. So is it working properly or is it just like assassin...? Also I've found IK weapon and some or the set on my assassin so could use that for a barb but not sure if it's any good since IK weapon is 2hand? And that find extra items on dead monsters looks very cool but is it doing s lot of different or no? I'm playing online battlenet. What I'm kinda trying to get at here is:
will i feel with the barb wauw this is a lot faster then assassin and almost as fast as sorc to get around and wauw almost no immunities and that extra item find ability makes it so i find way, way more items on general and since of hauwl i can just pass all mobs and again get places fast ? Or no it will be way, way worse then assassin / sorc in all aspect ?
You won't have an issue with immunities as barb, but he's definitely slower than assassin and sorc unless you have enigma, then he becomes one of the most efficient in the game. If you plan to use IK, that's more a whirlwind weapon since frenzy doesn't use 2-handed weapons. Find Item definitely makes a difference. You're not going to find an amazing all the time, just like killing a normal monster, but it has made a difference in rejuvenation potions, items to sell for gold, runes and the occasional gg item.
Overall I would say assassin and sorc is better especially in budget gear if you're fine with farming specific areas. Immunities suck with classes like sorc and sin, but if you limit yourself to specific areas, they're way better. For example, the assassin does best farming the cow level and eldritch/shenk. You can get a lot of good runes from the cow level. Cold sorc only wants to do Andariel, Mephisto, Ancient Tunnels, and maybe Pindleskin and Mausoleum. You wouldn't want to run the ancient tunnels on the sin because they are mostly like immune, but you could probably do the pit.

@@jarlfisk Sorc is better because they just farm high level areas where there are no immunes. My MF geared blizz sorc takes about a minute to create a game, teleport and kill hell andariel + meph.
Sorc move faster and they kill faster. And when you need to kill a boss 500+ times for each good unique item then you want to spend less time moving and more time killing the things you need to kill 🧙♀️
As for barbarians; going from assassin (the least gear dependant class) to barb (the single most gear dependant class) is going to feel terrible. You could just spec a sorc Frozen orb/fireball and get some decent gear for your merc and you can clear any area in the game faster and safer with sluggish gear than a barb wearing the best gear possible ever could.
Dude, your barb guides are awesome. I just got to hell, level 60 ww barb. I have upgraded bonesnap, wearing Duress armor, finding hell a little bit hard right now, my damage seems lowish. Do I just to need to level up more and level up my howl? Is IK maul + armor better than bonesnap + Duress?
IK set is better in the sense that it's a higher level set. If we assume you mean the body armor when you say "IK maul + armor" and not the whole set, then Duress is likely to be better armor (though an IK Maul has 2 sockets and 35+ Crushing Blow by itself). Having additional pieces grants the maul a specific elemental damage, and with enough of them, nothing in Hell will be immune to your attacks. Two warnings when considering an IK barbarian, though... First, the maul and body armor both require a level of 76+ each, and 225/232 strength respectively. Second, IK body armor is EXTREMELY rare, and might only drop from Hell Baal, Hell Nihlathak, or a monster in an area level 85 location (at about the rate of 1 in some 7 to 8 digit number).
As for your level, you can comfortably farm experience in Nightmare Baal until 70-75. I would suggest you get to at least 70.

If I can get the maul, gloves, and boots I think that would be a nice improvement. So I guess back to farming with my lvl 80 trapsin lol. I love playing barb, but man it's so gear dependant.
@@inrptn If you're looking for a strong weapon for your barb (and I assume you use Mace Mastery), you could try crafting Hit Power weapons with Magic Ogre Mauls and Thunder Mauls (these specifically because you can't up crafted items like you can with uniques or rares). All it costs you is a Perfect Sapphire, a Tir rune, and any Jewel you want. You might get a very high enhanced damage roll or Barbarian skill levels if you're lucky.
Matt has great advice here. IK maul can be worth using, but the strength cost is hefty without the IK gloves/belt. As Matt mentioned, I also recommend farming nightmare baal until at least level 70. The levels make a huge difference in chance to hit, and will get you closer to 88 on howl without having to invest so many points. If you can get at least 85 combined total for Howl, you might be able to safely farm hell pits for all of your gear since I think 85 is the number to scare away non-boss group monsters. Nightmare Baal can also drop IK maul, which he actually did for my brother the other day lol. If you can find a Ribcracker, you should be able to farm pits even better, and then beat hell entirely if you have the Lum and Pul to upgrade it.

Amn rune is pretty decent for an extra 7% life steal.

I would put an extra Shael in so you can hit 7 frames on your frenzy attack speed. That will also save you from having to equip 20% IAS gloves, allowing you to use something else like blood gloves that didnt roll with 20% IAS, dracs, soul drainer, etc

So with pit farming what is your MF% should I not worry that it’s like 0-25% or whatever as I feel swapping my gear for MF gear will get me murdered quickly!
You might be able to sacrifice a little bit for a big boost in mf, such as replacing lore helm with a 3x ptopaz helm or goldwrap for a belt and chance guards for gloves since the blood gloves and string of ears aren't as important as res from treachery/smoke and good weapons. You could also use 2x Gull or Ali Baba instead of 2x Spirit/warcry spears, but might have to invest more points into Find Item to make it worthwhile. Lots of customization for sure!

It's not about hardship or being cowardly. It's just a simple fact that compared to every other class in the game, the barb is the slowest and weakest solo, at least until geared, then the pitzerker build is one of the best builds!
