Besides boot camp and leaving boot camp to get to A school, I've only ever worn the dress whites for inspections. Besides that, hearing "get your whites ready" usually means you're going to mast, which is like going to trial for something bad you've done. Thankfully I've never done anything bad or criminal. For the blues, I've only ever worn them once, for an A school inspection. Long story short, you almost never wear them. Yeah, you can wear them when you come home from A school, but you'll attract unwanted attention, people will try to talk to you and ask you questions, someone I know wore his dress whites to the airport and a guy called him a fake and a fraud even though he was real. Once you're actually in, you probably won't want to wear anything military when you don't have to.
This is awesome man. I’m going to bootcamp on the 29th as MA. How can I get selections for C school? Is that something I could of selected at MEPS or something I can pick up at A school? Thanks!
My experience was just kind of seeing what happened next. K9 and PRP will be offered to you, but other stuff is kind of 'unlocked' by being a second class swimmer. Still, it seems like chance and the needs of the navy for what kind of orders you get. You can choose where you go but not what type of unit you are, basically.
Love it I go to bootcamp end of August and will be a MA! Just not sure if I’ll do C school because I’m going reserves. Also for k-9 can u do that and be reserves?
MWD (K9) is another C school. Not sure if that's allowed in the reserves. K9 is pretty rare to get but once you got it you got it and can't do anything else afterward like harbor or expeditionary etc
Concentrate on boot camp and don’t worry about MA school ,personally I don’t think sailors should be an MA right out of bootcamp ,it’s a learned thing, and great responsibility that comes with time served .
Ofcourse! I’m currently in the army guard. Infantry. Looking into joining the Navy after this contract, quick question I plan on reserves. Do you know if MA goes to port during annual training and patrols the harbor or aircraft carriers. I would love MA to have the opportunity to do land and AMPHIBIOUS operations. Do you know if this is the case for the reserves?
@@RDB11B A friend of mine was an expeditionary MA while in the reserves. The whole amphibious, riverine squadron type of stuff is what recruiters usually talk about but in reality those are really hard to get into if they exist at all as opportunities. Most MAs stand at gates checking ID cards at least until they're second classes. Although there are opportunities to become K9 and Harbor before that.
Roger what is the pipeline for harbor patrol? Is that even possible in the reserves? Are MA reservists usually stuck on base gate guarding during Annual Training as well? I’m also an E6 in the army currently.
@@RDB11B If expeditionary in the reserves is possible, I'm sure harbor is too. I can't say much more than that, I've never been reserves only active duty.
@@FORTFish-nf2bjprobably not high enough. It goes off of your line scores being added together. Look at your line scores and look up navy asvab rates and it’ll tell you the required scores needed for each rate.

What is the asvab score for master at arms?
Not very high, you don't need to be albert einstein to guard a gate.
@@HaedenBeckbut do you know the score to qualify? I’m currently a high schooler and took a afqt and scored like a 27 (no studying)

I scored a 36 and was able to get MA
@@FORTFish-nf2bj if you get close you can get an asvab waiver
Gayyyyyyy
Just took my asvab a week ago. I’m either going MA or HM 🫡
I'd rather be an MA than an HM but I might have a biased opinion 😁
@@HaedenBeck I’d rather be an MA too but I’m 25 and something may disqualify me from that so gotta have a back up plan 💪🏼
