    Hi Christy. Greetings from Cape Town. I saw you at Oshkosh, and was also on the same flight as you from Milwaukee to DFW on that Saturday evening, 29 July.

      @@pilotchristy I would have, but saw you up front while boarding the flight and people were behind me. Also thought that maybe on the last day of Oshkosh, being tired and exhausted you had enough of meeting. I did meet and chat with Dan at your booth though.

    That is just super cool. Husband and wife flying an airliner jet together. I don’t know if it was a random assignment or you specifically made request but either way, just what an amazing experience!

    What a fantastic video! I would love to learn more about your meal prep and meal choices, I often don't know where to eat when going cross country (by car). Same restaurant chains along the highways, mostly fast food, around the hotels the same thing...

    Great informative video. I'm not a pilot but love learning about the 'behind the scene' stuff. I just recently gave up my CDL but have spent many a trip working with my husband. We drove charter buses and had many a great adventure on the road. Some of the companies we worked for were reluctant to send us out together but we offered several compelling arguments as to why it would work for them. Mostly it came down to money. We COULD share a room unlike other drivers. Keep up the great work and happy trails (as my Grandmother would say!)

    Christy, what do you think of the yoke shape/style on your airline aircraft verses the more typical ones used on planes like your Piper?

    • @pilotchristy

      That’s ok! To be fair, I wasn’t super public about it. We split up about 3 years ago, and I got remarried last year. There were a lot of reasons why we split, but at the end of the day we decided to stay friends and have a very good relationship now. We are both in different relationships but we stay close and coparent our son together. 😊

    Does the airline not cover meal expenses for dinner when you are on the road? This is truly making me rethink my plan for a pre-retirement career in the airlines. Also, incredibly cool that you got to fly together for a repo flight. I can’t imagine that.

    • @pilotchristy
      @pilotchristy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Always pack your food. I pretty much knew which hotels had breakfast, so I planned around that, but plans change, it’s very possible to get redirected on the go. I always go all out with my smoker, and freeze a bunch of meat, and bring sides to go along with it. The frozen meat is extra temp control. Peanuts in the shell, and home made jerky to fill my snacking needs.
    Layovers are a time for me to work on the office duties of our farm. Read and answer emails, planning and data research. Plus, work out. I have memberships to a slew of all hours self service gyms.
    Yes, I am a slam clicker. Is, was, not sure where I fit in. Long leave during COVID and now a long leave due to the wife having health issues.

    • @pilotchristy
      @pilotchristy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, but it depends on the crew I’m with. I actually went out with my two flight attendants tonight! My one FA said she wants to be a pilot, so we had a fun conversation about that. 😊 I would say if anything I’m just disciplined about my diet and exercise, and have a fairly steady routine.

    I would not want to fly in an airplane being flown by a couple. Just NO. ...and airlines shouldn't allow it.

    • @pilotchristy
      @pilotchristy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would ask why that is? Because the couple dozen flights or so that we’ve done together have all been handled extremely professionally, and the passengers get a delight out of knowing they have a husband and wife crew. It makes me so sad that there is a fundamental stereotype held by some people that couples can’t work well together. I hope one day your perception of couples changes. ❤
