It's illegal to listen to Crowed House and to not end up singing along. You passed!
Very true!
YES!!!
I didn't know it was illegal... But after all, no one's ever managed to do it in the first place!
but why u singing cos the music or the meaning of the song ? :P either works
I still can’t watch Paul Hester without tearing up. So tragic. They battled with him. Love this band so hard. My very first cassette and I wore it out. Thanks for posting this.
Wait what happened?
@@ThatSingerReactions Paul Hester, their loveable, charismatic drummer, committed suicide back in 2005. Despite his 'court jester' role in the band he was prone to intense depressions and he hung himself in a public park.
A part of me still kind of resents Neil Finn for continuing the Crowded House band without him, since their live shows were so completely about the chemistry between him, Nick and Paul. Their stage banter was always as entertaining as the songs.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hester
Me either. I met him back in the early 1980s and he was just so lovely and friendly. Such a sad ending for a brilliant man.
You’re a good man Otto
The harmonies are so great because it's his brother Tim singing with him.
Crowded House is a great collaboration of Australian and New Zealand musicians. One of the great aspects of their music is that it is absolutely effortless. Their songwriting, vocals and instrumentals had a natural feel about it. For people new to Crowded House, their final concert held on the steps of Sydney's Opera House is something to behold and is available on TH-cam as well as the individual songs. The raw emotion that you can feel from the audience and band themselves is palpable, making it one of the all time greatest concerts globally. Highly recommend viewing that concert's 'Don't Dream Its Over' again. Great review, thanks!!
RIP Paul Hester.
Yes, seeing him again. RIP Paul Hester.
Hessies death was tragic and he's missed by So many people, including his many Crowdies fans.
The drummer was American from memory
@@NZFarmboy80 Nah Paul Hester was born in Melbourne.
Was at that concert at the Opera house. I still get chills thinking of that night!
The Finns are true poets. Theyve just put poetry to music. SOme of the best music ever produced!
Neil's kids are now in Crowded House
Liam Finn and Elroy Finn.
Sadly we lost Paul Hester the drummer in March 2005 who sadly took his own life. RIP Hessie
Neil Finn still does sing with Fleetwood Mac. He started off in split enz, then crowded house, Fleetwood Mac.
You have Tim and Neil harmonizing in this song.
Love that you're starting to get into more and more Aussie bands. What I'd say about a band like this is, we Aussies seem to put a big emphasis on storytelling in music. You called out the lyrics on this one, and it's true, the lyrics are often what makes the song. Jimmy, John, guys like that are easy to rock out to and always give killer live performances, but often you'd find that bands/artists like Crowded House and Paul Kelly (who you reacted to previously) will be on just as high a rotation on people's playlists. And the thing I'd say about that is, any song written by Neil Finn or Paul Kelly will always, always benefit greatly from reading the lyrics then listening to the song over again. You'll get the vocal/musical performances for sure, but these guys are first and foremost storytellers.
Absolutely agree with the storytelling comment of Australian music. Nick Cave is another fantastic example of this. His song 'Love Letter' could not be better.
@@grantkeenan9014 Nick Cave's Stagger Lee would be a good react
The entire concert with Neil Finn and Paul Kelly is stupidly good.
Well said, Patrick.
Agree
I think the thing I love the most about your reactions is their unscripted nature.
Thank you Rick 💯🙏🏾
Some of the other vocals you can hear on this that sound like Neil are actually his brother Tim Finn. They wrote and recorded this together. Tim was the lead singer of Split Enz (which Neil joined a few years later fresh out of school), and then later on Tim was with Crowded House for a little while. Both brothers are absolute geniuses, and legends of the industry. Their voices are so similar - sometimes hard to tell who is singing! They are brilliant 💕
My ABSOLUTE favourite song of all time!! How true are the lyrics? 'Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you...'
Neil Finn is a musical genius. Have a listen to 'Four Seasons In One Day' and 'Better Be Home Soon' and please check out their 1996 and 2016 Opera House concerts, they are iconic!
Neil is a poet, y’know? And there’s a melancholy touch to their music that is so poignant and bittersweet. This is my fave song of theirs, it’s just so beautiful and a little sadly sweet. Thank you for this!❤️
Well said thank you
Check out the farewell concert they did on the Sydney Opera house steps. You can tell they're a real pub band because they're so good live. Epic crowd too
I was there!
My favourite concert of theirs was the New Year’s Eve one they did on rock arena. I think the whole thing is on TH-cam. If you listen carefully you can see where some lyrics changed between the concert and the album.
One of my biggest regrets in life is flying home from Sydney on Friday night, knowing their final show was the following night. I was aware of the band at the time, and thought about staying on another night to go see them, but decided against it. Less than 6 months later I really fell in love with their music and regretted that decision ever since.
I was there, near the front with my stepsister.
Legit! I just said this on another Crowded House reaction... That is honestly my a time favourite Australian concert ever. Was amazing ❤️❤️❤️👍👌🏆
Check out “ Fall at your feet” in my opinion it’s one of their top two songs. It’s one of those songs that comes in halfway through a thought. So good!!
Neil's brother Tim has an awesome voice and is just as talented Neil..Do yourself a favour and listen to their band Split Enz. My top picks would be: Poor Boy, I see red, dirty creature, I hope I never, 6 months in a leaky boat, I got you, message to my girl.....💕💕💕 Love your reactions! ☺️
The vocals in this are Neil and his brother Tim. They just sound so right together. I love listening to them harmonise. Try the Finn Brothers first album, it features some great vocals from the pair. They were also in a band called Split Enz in the 70s that showcases both their vocals individually and together. They are both hugely talented singer/songwriters
The extra harmony your hearing in this particular song is Neil's brother Tim singing as well. They were both in Tim's band Split Enz before Neil started Crowded House.
You should do a cover of Don’t Dream It’s Over. With that voice!❤️
One of my all time favourite songs. Can’t listen to this without getting goosebumps and smiling from ear to ear. The ultimate feel good song!!
RIP Paul Hester - Great songs, great band!
Oh wow the lead singer passed that's so sad
@@ThatSingerReactions Neil Finn is the lead singer. Paul was the drummer. Great band. You might also want to listen to some of the music from the band Neil was originally in, Split Enz with his brother Tim Finn. Love the reactions Nick
Laid Back Perfection !
They do every Aussie & Kiwi Proud !
One of the Audience favorites!
his first band with his brother tim, split enz check them out too
The back harmony is Neils brother Tim. He was like a sort of guest artist in Crowed House. Tim gave Neil his start in his band, Split Enz.
Eddie Vedder doing 'History Never Repeats' with Neil Finn is just fire!
Vedder is a HUGE Nile Finn fan and has done numerous shows and live appearances with him.
... and Eddie doing stuff and nonsense 🤯
@@indierockyhockey Talk about a deep cut.
@@RolandDeschain1 it's incredible
Love this song
Saw these guys live a couple of months ago in Sydney…. They were amazing! Best live act I’ve since besides Midnight Oil
My parents went to school with the Finn brothers in a small town here in New Zealand, Te Awamutu, and they used to do free concerts in the school hall. If you like Crowded House (which Neil Finn was a founding member) you should check out Split Enz that his brother Tim was a founding member of and Neil eventually joined. Like Tim eventually joined Crowded House. As kiwis here in New Zealand we grew up on this music. I believe Neil's sons are now in Crowded House with him too
I love this song so much. Every song Neil Finn writes and sings is a story
Besides the fact that you have been reacting to Australian music, and that alone ,as an Australian, draws me in to hear your thoughts and feelings about our much beloved artists,as us aussies take things personally, when it comes to things we treasure and adore.
I continuously come back to see your reactions to our music because of you.
You are thoughtful and appreciative, and interested, genuinely so,& this is such a draw card to me. I like your authenticity and respect, evident when you react to artists and their songs,& I appreciate that when your reacting to artists and their songs that I grew up with,& hold a special little place in my heart,& my memories.
So Thankyou.
It’s been an utter joy watching your reactions,& listening to some of our legends of music here in Australia.
It’s just wonderful to be watching someone discover some of our much loved artists music.
Your doing a great job! 👍🙂
Wow thank you so much for the kind words ❤️
New Zealand???
My 2nd fave song of theirs 1st being Fall At Your Feet
My 2nd fav as well but 1st being It's Only Natural
All of the hits are great, but "Together Alone", featuring a full Maori choir, is just heaven.
So glad you found Crowded House!
This is from a great time in Aussie Music. If you love good lyrics and musicality you should check out contemporary band Icehouse. You have probably heard Iva Davies' masterpiece Great Southern Land but he is a great songwriter as well.
That don't dream it's over earworm always gets ya
Neil Finn is the bomb!
"I ain't editing nothin" lol I love you! Great song reaction. These guys are so good!! Better be home soon is one of my absolute favourites. Give it a go!!
Nick Seymour the bassist is a big reason for that groove. His brother Mark is the lead singer of Hunters and Collectors, another awesome Australian band. One of the most well known Aussie anthems is “Throw Your Arms Around Me.”
Their music takes you through so many emotions
Crowded House are just unifying, everyone sings along and the world is better for having their music. Lyrics are everything, the line "there's a small boat made of china, it's going nowhere on the mantlepiece" is so evocative, I think everyone's granny had a china boat on the mantlepiece when I was a kid, but the added meaning of the suburban existence, a boat going nowhere, leading into the line "do I lie like a lounge room lizard, or do I sing like a bird released" really gets into that deeper meaning of the song. Like most of Crowded House's songs, you can take it as the great ballad it is, or you can go so deep into the lyrics.
Great that Crowded House has regrouped and planning tour May 2023.
Must really listen to the lyrics of any song written by Neil Finn.
Talented lyricist.
Have a listen to When You Come and Mean To Me.
That Singer Reactions, at the top of reaction channels. Big shout out from Australia. Love your work.
You're the best! I loved your explanation at the end, it sums up Crowded House completely. Watching them live in a stadium is just surreal, the whole audience is singing every word with them and you feel so happy and joyous ❤
Neil Finn's lyrics were published as a book of poetry. "Love This Life", published by Allen & Unwin
Please tell me you watched their last concert at the Sydney opera house steps , breath taking , the whole concert
Thats a Sitar that Mark plays
This is the song that made me truly love lyrics. Listen to the message and let it sink in you always take the weather with you meaning your attitude and what you do with it. What a beautiful song.
Please check out Powderfinger....some stand out songs for me are Love you way and Passenger and a whole long list of other great songs....Bernard's voice would just get to me...he's one of my favourite voices
Something So Strong and Hole In The River are great ones from the first album. Fall At Your Feet, Into Temptation, When You Come, Better Be Home Soon, Private universe, Distant Sun, Catherine Wheels, In My Command,… So much great stuff!
Sheryl Crow wrote a song about Paul Hester, Crowded House's drummer. It's called Every day is a winding road. They toured together and were pretty close by the sounds of it, so she was affected by his suicide
I think you'd love Neil's band ''Split Enz'' which was his brothers band and later joined.Tim Finn (Neil's brother) has a beautiful voice and sings a love song ''I hope I never'' it just beautiful. Love your Chanel !
Those harmonies are Neil's older brother Tim Finn. He did this album "Woodface" with Neil, Paul and Nick.
No one captures sentiment in a lyric like these guys ❤️
This is such a beautiful song😊❤️ "there's a small boat made of China, it's going nowhere on the mantelpiece", that line makes me think of my beautiful Dad who made many incredible model boats, made out of wood. They were perfectly crafted from his own imagination🤗 I miss him so much❤️ thank you for your great reactions and channel. 🌏🪐🍀🌕🙏🦋👣🇦🇺🌈😎❤️❤️🦉🏡🌳❤️
Finally they are touring again..can't wait 🇦🇺😁
WOOHOO... just bought tickets today!
This song/album they were joined by lead singer Neil Finn’s brother Tim Finn, who founded legendary NZ band Split Enz.. That harmonising between the two brothers voices is amazing….Tim doesn’t appear in this video though even though the song features his vocals …he famously left the band part way through the tour of this album “Woodface”… they have worked together since and have two “Finn Brothers” albums. You should listen to Tim singing “Poor Boy” with Split Enz - truly beautiful vocals (early days…he has lost some vocal ability with age, though still amazing). Edible flowers is one of my fave Finn Bros songs … take a listen.
Checkout Split Enz, it's the band before they moved to Australia and reformed into Crowded House
Another Nice 👍 kiwi 🥝 song brings back memories of going on Holiday and chilling out in the car traveling to your next destination with no worries and no rush.love it.❤️👍🥝🇳🇿
Some of the greatest lyrics ever written... you just have to listen to the words.
Great reaction! Check “Better Be Home Soon” - beautiful song
Neil Finn Crowded House touring Australia in April 2022 & his 2 sons joined the band. Saw them a few times
I can't say enough good things about Neil Finn or Crowded House. They LIVE in the pocket. I've listened to all their albums so many times you can drop the needle anywhere in the collection and I won't miss a beat. It's just poetry with a melody. The ups and downs of life and they managed to capture it all. I think what I love most is their different style of songwriting. It does not follow the normal "hit" recipe. True artists. Just a special band. So happy you seem to get it straight away. I can't hear the end of any one of their songs without hearing the start of the next track in my head. "Here's someone now, who's got the muscle..." (World Where You Live)
Neil Finn is, in my opinion, one of the best, most emotional songwriters of last century
All the Aussies will be singing along 😀
Early memory. When this song was released and heard on the radio, I was fishing 🎣 at my local beach, in the rain. Taking the weather with me lol
These guys are iconic. I went to a ‘day on the green’ where Paul Kelly and Neil Finn sang each other’s songs. It was incredible.
Dude - your reactions are so fun to watch! It's awesome that you're getting into Crowded House. 2 other songs of theirs that I'd love to see you listen to is "fall at your feet" & "its only natural"
This clip was filmed on the Belleraine Peninsula in Victoria mainly in Queenscliff where my parents retired to. I remember seeing this clip on Hong Kong TV and telling my girlfriend that that was where I lived. Thank goodness for Google maps which proved it. Loved Crowded House and iut was so sad regarding Paul Hester.
You need to hear his older brother sing ‘ I Hope I Never’… with Split Enz 👍
That was Neil's brother (Tim) providing BVs, for another good example of Tim's simple/sparse harmony lines check out "One Step Ahead" from Spit Enz.
You definitely need to check out Tim's lead vocals on Split Enz numbers "I Hope I Never" & "Poor Boy".
One of the Greatest Bands Ever Worldwide❤️ & One of the Greatest Everlasting Songs of ALL Time @/owww❤️. Love, Love, Love Crowded House❤️ & Their Whole Catalogue of Gem Records!! They're Fabulous!! @/lovethis. Check Out their Catalogue, You'll Love it❤️. Love You Paul Hester, One of the Greatest Drummer Ever @/neverforgotten❤️
We have some very good new and old Aussie singers/bands. And the good thing about our music is its about everyday things, like what they have been through
My favourite live Crowdies track is 'Fingers of Love' from the FAREWELL TO THE WORLD concert. It's just stunning. And it wasn't even a hit song. It's kind of an obscure album track, but that live version is an epic masterpiece.
Lyrically and musically one of the greatest bands ever, "Four Seasons in One Day" "When you Come" "Nails In Your feet" and the list go on
Crowded House was just one of those great bands but they sound even better live, Their farewell concert at the Sydney Opera House was AH-MA-ZING 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, its not virtuoso vocals, its 'just' virtuoso pop music. Lyrics just deeper and more varied than the average pop song, and melodic music and vocals just a little lovelier and catchier than the average pop song. This is music with real staying power. People just fall in love with Crowded House and keep them on rotation in their lives.
A place to escape! Perfect analogy for that rabbit hole for you Nick 🙏❤️
My very very favourite Crowded House song. Love them. 🇦🇺
🗣🎶 Better Be Home Soon🎼 is my Favourite song from Crowded House mate !
One of my fav songs of all time. They are genius 💞
My grandma lived across the road from Neil and use to feed their Dalmatian dog that's in this clip, his name was Leister.
The great harmonies are the Finn brothers together. Tim Finn joined the group for a short time but as a performer he was always basically a lead singer and not really an instrumentalist. In Crowded House he was always going to be playing second fiddle to his brother, just like in Split Enz after Neil found his feet there. It looks like Tim had left the band when this video was done because he isn't in it. Another example of their great harmonies from this time is another weather-themed song 'Four Seasons in One Day.'
It's a myth that Paul McCartney described Neil Finn as the best songwriter in the world. He was asked and said he never said that.
They were the first band to beat The Beatles sales records in Australia
They are singing about the Australian dream of good times with family at the beach. Australia has 12,000 beaches along its 37,000 miles of coastline. If you visited a new one every day it would take 32 years to see them all. And it is all under the cobalt blue skies that Australia is famous for. People from the Northern Hemisphere marvel at the intensity of the color of the Australian sky. No wonder Australians are famous for taking the family to the beach for summer holidays.
If you wanna check out another incredible voice from Australia , check out the guy who sings for the band Savage Garden.....check out their song, "I Knew I Loved You". This is another guy with a perfect voice.
They are one of my favorite bands. I followed them on tour back in the 90's. Definitely one of the best songwriters ever.
Crowded House is just down right good. Their harmonies were enhanced when Neil's older brother Tim joined the band. You can really hear the benefit his voice adds to them in this song over Better Be Home Soon. However I do prefer their earlier stuff personally
Have to love Better be home soon. Love that song but then I love most CH😊😊😊😊
“Locked out” is a real vibe from crowded house. Also, thank you Nick for introducing me to Home Free…Oh my 😱 You know? 💜
Did we just become best friends?! 🤣
Oh hell yes 🙌🏼😁
My favouite songwriter, Ginger Wildheart, said that 'Locked Out' was one of those songs he wished he had written.
As far as genius goes, his brother TIm Finn is a great songwriter in his own rights. Check out their band Split Enz " Dirty Creature" or "Six Months in a Leaky Boat."
I wish I could sing like you. You have a beautiful voice.
Seeing these guys in April 🙏 in Perth, Western Australia. Yay! ☮️
Nails in my feet ....crowded house...great song
Aah! I love this song. Lol, when we were younger my friends and I would often burst into the chorus of this song if it started raining or a thunderstorm came over when we were out.
Better be home soon is a must listen too from crowded house.
Crowded House lyrics are on another level. Two of my absolute favourites are "Nails in My Feet" and "Into Temptation". Pure poetry.
Eddie Vedder often cites these guys and the earlier band of Neil and Tim Finn; Split Enz as an inspiration of his. These guys have been around a long ass time. Sadly the drummer took his own life some years ago. Neil is now playing with Fleetwood Mac 🤙

Crowded House ... they were special. It was a special time. Happy/sad memories. Forgive me man, I'm a little drunk right now.
Have a listen to "fall at your feet", if that's what the song was called. Listen to any of them.
Then maybe have a listen to "six months in a leaky boat" by Split Enz.
Another one of my faves. Crowded house boys 👍👏
