I could cry tears of happiness. I was currently on year three of having extreme oily flat hair in the back of my scalp and top of my head. I tried everything. Asked multiple salon artists. Bought at least 7 different shampoos all between $50-$100, watched other hair washing TH-cam videos that swore lathering in your hands was the key, and nothing worked. I thought maybe it was postpartum hormones and my next step was to go to a doctor. I am so grateful I found this! This is the first time in years I had a healthy clean scalp throughout my entire head. If you have to wash three times, do it! Thank you thank you thank you for literally saving me with this gift of a video 🙏🏽

Extra note! I was able to pull out 3 expensive professional shampoos that I had archived under the sink because they previously kept my scalp oily with my previous hair washing methods (davines/shu uemera/r&co). All of them with this new hair washing method work great in my hair. Now I have years of shampoo with this new routine 🙈 btw! I was desperately using detox shampoo which only made my hair oilier. Skip all the other marketing schemes and attempt this technique! It's worth the shot, trust me!!!

I also tried the lathering the shampoo in ur hands method and my hair never looked worse. It was hella oily and dirty and for the love of god I couldn't make it to actually wash my hair. The only reason I tried it was because my hair was dry after the washing day until enough oil was produced to make it smoother. So dropping this method and implementing hair oil into my routine was one hell of an improvement.

Professor, you saved my scalp and my sanity!!!! :) For over TEN YEARS, I have suffered chronic itchy scalp. My skin literally crawled, and I scratched it so hard. I tried everything. I had to constantly tell my preschool coworkers that I didn't have lice, but just chronic itchy scalp. A doctor gave me a topical steroid. Just temporary relief. Well, I was about to have a scalp biopsy, but I found your video in time. I started dividing my hair in quadrants like you show, and smashed that shampoo into those partings to clean the scalp really well. Then I started shampooing twice as you said. My itchy scalp is GONE. All along it was just me washing wrong. A decade of suffering past! I thank you, and my scalp thanks you!!! :)

Here to report I have tried Chris’s hair washing technique ONCE so far (yesterday) and it’s already made a very noticeable difference in my day 2 hair today. Usually, it gets so greasy and oily by now that no amount of dry shampoo can help, so I throw it back in a bun. However, I’m proudly wearing it down today! I think one of the biggest things I was doing wrong was emulsifying the shampoo in my hands first. I followed the advice of another hair/beauty TH-camr for an entire year and it did nothing for my hair. This man’s advice made an impact in 24 hours. Shampoo KungFu is the way to go! Can’t wait to see the results from continued use of his trinity routine! ❤️

@Bella M honestly the best thing I’ve done for my hair is find a shampoo that actually keeps the grease at bay. I recently started using one with zinc pyrithione (my derm has her own line), and this has been the game changer. Hair washing technique does help, but I honestly think incorporating this into my routine has made the biggest difference! I also apply a small amount of all-natural dry shampoo with a makeup brush at night before bed and it seems to help as well. 👍

@@Faisel-i9j Hi there. I bought Shea Moisture's Silicone Free Miracle Styler/Leave-in Treatment. Just to let you know though, that I bought it on sale for $10 at my local drugstore. Otherwise this stuff is on regular price for $26, which I wouldn't pay. Lol! I live in Canada so it may be less expensive elsewhere. It's the silicone free that caught my eye because silicone leaves my hair too greasy. I only need a couple of pumps so this will go a long way. I'm hoping it's on sale again when I run out, otherwise I'll be on the hunt again for something similar but at a price point I can afford. Who knows? If I absolutely still love it at that time I may splurge. Good luck & happy New Year!

Seriously, I'm 60 years old and your videos are changing my life! The way you describe how to get the shampoo to your scalp is SO helpful. I'm up to about 3-4 days between washing, and every other wash is done with a co-wash. I've just started this routine, but it's helping me spend less time on styling. I DO find myself having to do little "fresh ups," just little fixes because I wear a ponytail and/or clip fairly regularly.

I go about 3-5 days between washes. Since I started to bleach my hair I needed to figure out a way to not have to wash my hair daily or even every other day as to not have to dry it out. Using my fingertips like they do at the salon has really helped. If I don’t get a good sudsing, I rinse and wash again to make sure all the oil and dirt is out. I use lots of dry shampoo between washes. I know you knock drugstore products but I swear by suave clarifying shampoo! I use it at least once weekly and it gets my hair super clean but not dry.

I put the shampoo on my hand (I dont spread in on my hand at all) and press it down with a little pressure on my scalp and then start spreading and rubbing it all over the scalp with my fingers. My hair used to get that oily look 2-3 days after i washed it. Now, it's been 4 days since my last wash and my hair still actually looks good, minimally oily. I believe i can go another 2-3 days before washing it again, making it a whole whopping week between washes. Also I use a gentle, sls free shampoo and lukewarm water.

My only issue is that dermatologists mostly say you should wash at least every 3 days. Fine thin hair with hair loss issue (androgenetic alopecia) should wash daily.

I have coarse relaxed hair. One thing I learned living in the girl's dorm and swapping hair stories: Hair like mine should not be squeaky clean. It's so hard to keep any oil on our hair/scalp that we add moisture and/or oils sometimes daily. If you make your hair squeaky clean you've stripped it and probably harmed it. Clean that scalp like crazy; the extra shampoo running over the hair will probably take care of cleansing it.

    • @madisoncrum9212
      @madisoncrum9212 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, we all have different hair textures. Most white people will have more similar hair textures to each other than other races. Hence why most black people only go to other black people to get their hair done. I wouldn't go to a person of a different race and expect all their hair advice to fit yours, when it's entirely different. Most black people wouldn't know what to do with my hair at all and I wouldn't blame them one bit or expect them to know either.
My hair is fine, thin, straight, and oily. It's as white as white people hair gets. Disgusting. I used to wash it daily 5 days a week in high school, and only let it rest on the weekends. It started getting oily after 12 hours. I was doing exactly what people told me to do with my hair type, but I didn't realize how actually rare my hair type is because everyone copies it. Everyone straightened their hair, including black people. How was I supposed to know that wasn't normal? It was for me. What people with STRAIGHTENED hair need to do and what people with STRAIGHT hair need to do are so entirely different it's not even funny. Yet at the same time, STRAIGHT hair isn't so insanely different that it needs to be constantly stripped of oils, like I was doing. It's like most other hair types in how that it needs moisture, just not as heavy on the products. It's so easy to put too much of anything on my hair and make it oily and gross. The sweet point is such a fine line I usually miss it. But with this man's advice, my hair is better off than it ever has been listening to those harpies at the salons with their STRAIGHTENED hair only telling half of the things I needed to know and depriving my hair of any moisture since it's "naturally straight," and they can't NOT dry it out like crazy to make it "look" thicker. My hair isn't like thick, wavy, curly types. But it still needs moisture and delicate care.
Not 0 conditioner anything and harsh towel drying into blow drying with no conditioning products at all and mousse and powders and hairsprays. Eeesh. No wonder my hair was gross.

It depends on how you wear your hair. I’m relaxed and wear braids. This is Absolutely helpful in removing build up. Also some stylists like to use heavier products on our hair and my least favorite, waxes. We absolutely must use a clarifying shampoos from time to time. I grew up with greasy hair due to added products being applied wrong as the norm. Also, if your hair has build up then it cannot be properly moisturized which is SUPER important for course hair.

I’d love for you to do a video comparing the shampoos you recommend for fine/medium hair. I’d like to buy one but I’m not sure which one to buy. I have dandruff issues, and I rarely ever blow dry my hair, but now I’m not sure if I should start doing it more if I need to blow dry before I style. Why do you recommend one over the other for blow drying versus air drying? Also, what clarifying shampoo do you recommend?

I have always washed my hair every day. I had heard it wasn't good for the hair, so I tried to go every 2 days. When my dermatologist checked my scalp, she asked how often I was washing it. I was getting seborrheic dermatitis flares on my scalp, cause by sebum buildup due to oil production. She immediately told me if you have oily scalp, you have to wash it every day to prevent the buildup. She said only people who have dry scalp can go without washing more often. Now, I compromise and wash it every other day. By the third day, shampoo is hitting my scalp! 💯

  • @bendyprissy

I have a couple questions. I just started using your healthy hair routine today. I have fine, oily hair with lots of split ends that I have only been able to use head & shoulders on because of the itchiness when using any other brand. After washing my hair it gets pretty dry. I got the redken volume injection shampoo/conditioner, the Pureology color fanatic leave in conditioner, Moroccanoil weightless hydrating hair mask, and the Olaplex No.7 bonding oil. I could not find your video on how to use the hair mask until after I had already showered and hair dried. I found it now so don't have a question about that.
Question # 1, how do I use the conditioner in the shower? I saw your video said not to put any of the conditioners on the top of my head or scalp but after following your routine today that is the part that looks crazy dry. I put the leave in conditioner on the ends & mid with the same result. I used 8 sprays and it still looked dry on the top and mid. After hair dried I put the oil on the ends working up to the mid. Ends look fine, mid/top stayed dry looking. I tried adding more with same dry results. I ended up putting a very tiny amount on the top which did help so I feel like maybe I'm not using enough of the conditioners/oil. But I also did not use the hair mask which I definitely need to do and will do so next wash.
Question # 2, what do you do with your hair when you sweat? I mountain bike almost daily and tend to get very sweaty and take a shower when I get back including my hair. I cannot imagine how my hair will look if I don't wash it after it has gotten all sweaty in a helmet. Would it be best to use a dry shampoo in those instances?
Thank you for your instructional videos! I wish you had a shop a couple states up the eastern coast!

I just received your fine hair box (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and hair oil), and I am going to see if I can stop washing my hair every single day, which I’ve been doing my entire life. Now that I’m 53, have had some medical issues and am post-menopause, my fine hair breaks SO easily that I have a halo of broken hairs all around my head, which I hate. I have fairly long hair, and it also tangles very easily, which it never did when I was younger. I am hoping that using all your recommended products and washing my hair less often will help. Thank you so much for all the fantastic advice!
