- Fishing the OBX can be very rewarding since the Gulf Stream runs through here. You just need to pick your pier wisely. Most piers in NC are cut in half due to the hurricanes that broke them a few years back. Avalon Pier costs $12 to fish and park for the whole day with re-entrance.

Great video! Avalon Pier is my favorite. I get a house on the beach about 1/2 mile south. I spend most of my days during that week on the pier. Either fishing or hanging out in the bar. I've been going about 12 years now, before they built the bar and when it was twice as long as it is now. Hurricane took the other half like 5 years ago. I'll be there at the end of May this year.

We call them Cutlass Fish. Saute in Ginger, Garlic and Butter. Absolutely one of the best eating out there.
They have many names cutlass, ribbonfish, beltfish every area has a different preference. But I steak them and deep fry. Very very good table fare 👍. May try your method next time

Bet that butterfly ray took a while to get in from the pier. Hooked up on them at Assateague a couple of times and man do they fight hard
Took them about 30-40mins. Had to get around people to beach was the only issue. I need to get out to assateague on a good wind bc mosquitoes there are ruthless
