So basically the Chalice of the Gods is IN the series, but it takes place when Percy is trying to get college recommendation letters, and you need to read “The Heroes of Olympus” series and after that the “Trials of Apollo” series before you can read the Chalice of the Gods. The Chalice of the Gods is considered PJO #6 because it’s the first book the the Riordanverse that has Percy as the one and only narrator. (Heroes of Olympus has multiple POVS and The Trials of Apollo is from Apollo’s perspective and features Percy only in a few books). Hope this helped! 💗

You don't necessary have to actually read Trial of Apollo to read Chalice of the God, since chronically CoG and the two books after that are happen before ToA.....

Using the iris message is used with 'adress' percy didn't know where annabeth is, so he can't contact her. Percy could contact her mom and tyson bcs he knows where they are but if the place is vague, the iris message couldn't proceed.

I'm seeing a lot of people here telling you to read all the Riordanverse books, but for you to understand Percy's story don't need to read them all. I will show you a simpler order that allows you to understand the entire timeline of the Percy’s story:
1. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Books 1-5
2. Heroes of Olympus: Books 1-5
3. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: 6, 7, 8 (for now there’s only 6, but these new PJO books are scheduled to be a trilogy)
Percy's main story ends there for now, but if you're invested in the universe and want more, then I recommend Trials of Apollo (in which Percy is a supporting character, the books don't make much of a difference to his story). And there’s also The Sun and the Stars, a solo story by Nico Di Angelo. Kane and Magnus Chase are part of the same universe but they are separate sagas, so there’s no need to read them.

The Demigod Files- happens before the last Olympian. Multiple stories involving Percy, Thalia, Nico, Clarisse etc
The Demigod Diaries: Short stories including one from Luke's perspective during his days with Annabeth and Thalia. Plus Percabeth story and one written by Rick's son Haley, about a son of Hecate who fought against olympus in the titan war.
Camp half blood confidential- stories from first person point of view of multiple characters, about camp half blood. Plus interviews.
Demigods and Magicians- crossovers between the Kanes (of the Kane chronicles) and Pjo
I have read the first 5 Percy Jackson books and the 5 books in the Heroes of Olympus series. Personally I think you should just start there. Don't panic so much, you'll be fine.
Okay, Ima just say some stuff about reading order so you dont end up spoiling yourself for books. I don't reccomend googling too much as there are so many spoilers these days, but if that's your thing go ham! The first series is the original 5 books you have in the box set.
Next is The Heroes of Olympus series. This 2nd series is important for future books as a lot is called back on and introduced characters do return in future books. The first book of the 2nd series Percy does not play much of a role but I urge you to at least finish the 2nd book in that series before deciding on continuing reading. The characters are maturing more and there are a few books that can get dark for YA and even as an adult now it is one of my favourite series.
3rd series Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. In this series Percy is not in the trilogy in my memory at all. It's in the same world, however, it expands on different gods and beliefs outside of the greek/roman. The main character in this is Annabeth's cousin. I did overall enjoy this trilogy.
The 4th series is The Trials of Apollo. I did read these thought not recently and remember very little. There are characters from The Heroes of Olympus that appear and play pivotal roles. I don't remember Percy playing a prominant role. Though it is in the same world and has characters from the past series in it.
The Sun and the Star is a standalone featuring a character from series 1. You could read this after The Chalice of the Gods or before I don't recall the order mattering. Though this was published before The Chalice of the Gods this year.
The most recent series The Chalice of the Gods follows a character introduced in the original series. We see charcters from both series 1 and 2. This is not a complete series at this time but the second book is in the works.
There is another series, The Kane Chronicles. Now I may get some hate but I've never read these and I don't believe they play a major role in the other series as they seem pretty distinct from one another. There may be some easter eggs hinting back to it in the other series but besides that I don't remember ever feeling like I needed this series to understand the others plots.
Overall, I hope you enjoy this journey. There are a lot of books published which may seem daunting but each of them are special in their own way. The first two series I do think you should read as it really does show a lot of Percy's story and were very popular.
Seen a lot of people say you need to read Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, then the new book. That’s just kinda the release order. Canonically, the new book is right after the heroes of olympus series. So you don’t need to read trials of apollo before the new book unless you want to

All of Rick Riordan's mythology related books are known together as the Riordan-verse and the reading order of the series generally goes as follows:
1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians
2. The Kane Chronicles
3. The Heroes of Olympus
4. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
5. Chalice of the Gods and its upcoming sequels
6. The Trials of Apollo
7. Sun and the Star
You can skip Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase since they aren't about Greek mythology (they're about Egyptian and Norse mythology respectively) but they do take place in the same universe.
Most of the series have companion books and you can look up "Riordanverse reading order" for more detailed lists, but this is generally a good way to go at it if you want to read all the series (though you should at least read the Heroes of Olympus before reading the new Percy Jackson book)

You definitely should read THOO series after PJO series! Yes it was exactly our reaction when reading the first book of THOO "who tf is Jason?" bcs we are expecting to met percy but there is no percy??? Good thing leo fill the gap. This boy is so likeable.
This might be unpopular opinion, but you can just read caiche of the gods without reading trials of apollo. You can read trials of apollo after that tho.
And kane chronicles have nothing to do with pjo series, you can read if you want but the story is not part of percy jackson lore

Okay, so I did answer this to your other video (and since this was pre-recorded, you already have the answer), but I'll answer again just to make sure everything's clear.
The Camp-Half Blood Chronicles are all of the Greek series (PJ & the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and Trials of Apollo, Sun & the Stars, Chalice of the Gods). There are short story collections included also (Demigod Dairies, Demigod Files), but I don't believe those are necessarily required, though I am putting those on my list. Percy is a main featured character in HoH, and does make appearances in ToA (but I have not read those yet.)
Chalice of the Gods, while technically the sixth Percy Jackson book does take place outside of the storyline of the main five PJ books. It takes place between Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo, and the next book coming out falls here too. The Sun & the Stars is an off-shoot featuring Nico di Angelo (who you meet for the first time in Titan's Curse), which takes place after ToA.
Percy is 17 during Heroes of Olympus & Chalice of the Gods, and 18 during Trials of Apollo, I believe.
That should clear everything up. Some of it I know I mentioned before, so you already know lol, but wanted to make sure that everything else was clear as far as which books take place when. I am currently on book 5 of HoO, and it is FANTATSIC. I am super psyched, and I think you will enjoy them. I'm glad you're enjoying all this, as am I! Love your channel so far, and glad I followed! @@justhana4779 Personally, I would read Heroes of Olympus and then Trials of Apollo, then read Sun and the Stars and Chalice of the Gods. Even though CotG takes place before ToA there's another book coming out, and that was release order, so that's that I would do.
@@justhana4779Okay One thing I was wrong about is that Chalice of the Gods takes place before Tower of Nero, the fifth ToA book. I would still read them in the order I previously said.

In my opinion, if you REALLY like ricks books, I would start reading the Magnus chase books, and Kane after hero’s of Olympus, but you can read those two series anytime! ❤
I read a lot when I was younger. Always got told I read fast and too much. But wow even during my peak reading days I would haven't been able to do what you did and read 5 books in a week. Hell, I couldn't have done even 3 books in a week.

I'm sure people have already explained to you the order of the series after the confusion you've expressed but I just wanted to point some things out:
-Camp Half Blood Chronicles is a name used to refer to all the series in the same universe and includes Percy Jackson, Heroeos of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, the new Percy Jackson series (Chalice of Gods and the sequel that is coming up) as well as some shorter stories and the standalone Sun and the Star. These series each have its own story but they take place in the same universe and sone of the same characters though they always introduce some new people too.
As for whether Chalice of Goods is the lart of the original eries or not - I think it is very misleading to say it is. Basically it is considered as such because it returns to the original trio as main characters but it takes place after Heroes of Olympus and it would definetely be better to read that first. It chronologically takes place before Trials of Apollo though, so you can read it before that one if you'd like.
There is also some side stories that can mostly be read whenever you'd like as they give some additional information but aren't necessary for understanding any of the main series. The exception is "The Demigod Files" which should be read prior to Heroes of Olympus. I didn't and there was a part in ome of the later books that would make much more sense to me if I had.
So I got too complicated but basically the order would be something lime this:
Percy Jackson
Demigod Files (can also be read in between the fourth and fifth Percy Jackson book)
Heroes of Olympus
(New Percy Jackson series chronologically takes place here even though it came out later)
Trials of Apollo
Sun and the Star
The Chalice of Gods (what I refer to as the New Percy Jackson series) chronologically takes place after Heroes of Olympus and before Trials of Apollo (at least the first book) so you can decide to read it first if you want to but you can also read it after.
All the other companions (Demigod Diaries, Camp Half Blood Confidential etc.) can be read at any time.
Magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles are about different mythologies but especially Magnus Chase has some connections with the Camp Half Blood chronicles. They are conpletely separate series otherwise though.

just a tid bit, piper's name is pronounced pipe -- er not pipper haha, but yes heroes of olympus is a spinoff of the original percy jackson books. the new pjo trilogy thats presently being released isnt like required to understand the other books, it was more of a tribute to the original characters/trio and a love letter to the kids who read pjo and are now adults (me lol), but that just from my perspective. i definitely recommend reading heroes of olympus because it continues percy and annabeth's story but with more characters that are to die for; also, heroes of olympus DEFINITLEY should be read before chalice of the gods to avoid spoilers, so don't read it yet if you plan on doing the spinoff series!
