You've got to love how good this scene is on a 2nd watch. Ransom is sitting here knowing exactly what's in the will. He came for the show and while everyone is telling him how good it is he's out of the will, he's stocking up ammo to throw right back at them the moment the next scene happens.

@@The-Deadite He's also quiet for a point; like a lot of Internet trolls, he spews all sorts of hate behind online anonymity, but is a shrinking coward who wouldn't say anything to people's faces.
I love the hypocrisy of this entire family. They all say that Harlan being cut out of the will could be the best thing for him, that he'll have to support himself, but the moment they find out they're all out of the will, well we know what happens next.
Walt was the one who was hardest on Ramson here and I think that's exactly why. He knows he doesn't have a real job or real responsabilities and is just cashing his symbolic position on dad's company, from which he has been fired. So deep down, he knows how little he earns and must tell himself "at least I'm not like Ramson, who is proud of being just a heir being financed by grandpa without a job." Ramson is proud of being what they all pretended they werent.
That's why I love it when Ransom drives off with Marta, he says to the family "I think this could be the best thing to happen to all of you!"

This is hilarious. He knew everyone was cut out of the will.. he just had that little piece of information close to his chest and created his own little pocket of happiness in the annoucement.
The way Toni delivers "Oh my Goddd" is still one of the highlights of the movie for me 😂

Ransom was no different than his rotten-to-the-bone family, but honestly he had more wit and freewill than all of them. I mean notice how despite his family’s absurd reactions and criticism he stayed cool and calm the whole time. He pretty much owned the room in this scene.
He had the most street smarts out of all of em. Everyone else was too coddled. And they said Ransom was the most spoiled...
🤔 Linda had her moments when she was just as intelligent. Like realizing right away how Blanc tried to bate her, she knew her dad well enough to decode his letter to her and play games with him. However she could be blinded when it came to their family's ego being hurt with Marta inherited everything Harlem had.
“I’m not eating one IOTA of shit!” Literally one of my favorite lines in the moibe
And to think, Michael Shannon completely improvised that line.

God I love how many layers there are to this scene, based on the audiences knowledge and perception
Layer 1: Ransom acts confident because he is a cocky asshole who thinks he is beyond consequences
Layer 2: Ransom acts confident because he knows something the others doesn’t
Layer 3: Ransom acts confident so the family builds up their arrogance for the big reveal
Layer 4: Ransom acts confident because he is convinced Martha will get convicted and all the families problems will be fixed
Chris Evans should play more characters like that. He’s perfect as Captain America, but damn he played such a perfect unlikeable bastard.

The sequel was ok, but can never beat the first one. The acting in the first one was perfect, amazing casts too.
It wasn't a sequel kind of because second one is a completely different story and new characters except for blanc! Both were good movies but I figure the villain on the second one was easy once I saw red colour
It's the cast... the first one had the best casting, the chemistry between all of them was something that the cast of the second movie didn't really achieve despite it being a good movie with a great script.

I like to think this is the moment from which Blanc knew Marta was “guilty.” But to her rescue was the wrinkle of Ransom immediately after
True. But rather than Blanc thinking that Martha was “guilty,” it’s more like she’s hiding something from him. Since he said he doesn’t like to make opinions about cases without the whole truth.

He knew she was “guilty” the moment he met her and saw the blood on her shoe
Not entirely guity but maybe suspicious of something she's hiding. Because a blood on his shoes doesn't means she's a murderer. Plus Blanc said his opinion will depend on the whole truth.
He worked out she was involved pretty much instantly, but had faith in her good nature. He keeps checking to see if she's cleaned the blood off her shoe throughout the movie because an actual murderer wouldn't have left it there, but the thought never crossed her mind that she'd even have Harlan's blood on her because even though she thinks herself a murderer the whole time - she doesn't have the mind of one.
He could have wrapped the case up instantly with the blood, but he knew there had to be far more to the story.
In a room full of such amazing talent,just see how Evans shines.
He should stay away from the superhero stuff and focus more on these kind of roles.
Chris Evans and Scarlet Johanssen actually did an interview back in 2019 discussing about how they have to do superhero roles to become bankable stars that studios are willing to takes risks on so that they can go on to focus on starring in films like Knives Out or Marriage Story.

Johansson wants to get another sci-fi like Glazer’s Under the Skin funded? She can do it. Marvel made them “name talents.” Now it’s all about how they spend that goodwill.

I think that he was also counting on his framing of Marta leading to the will being contested and reverting to a version where he had a large share.

When people talk about movies similar to "Knives Out", they tend to list mystery movies. But if you want a scene like **this** one, you should check out "Greedy" from 1994, where Kirk Douglas plays a millionaire whose family is always trying to suck up to him and sabotage each other to get their hands on his fortune.

There were many elements that made this film great. The. first, was the casting.
I loved the dogs especially, the barks and scene selectively edited to make it seem anxious and threatening when they're are just super happy to see Chris Evans lmao
