It lets you follow exactly whats going on and it wants you to soak in all the cool stunts. No movement is hidden, quite the contrary, you have very clear viewing angles and slow motion so you can see it all. You know at all times what's going on, even though this fight would be very quick. Neo and Trinity come off as incredibly skillful and hyperfocused, but they don't have an easy time. Compare that to most action movies, where the camera spins, shakes, zooms and cuts like crazy during fights. The angle will usually be so close that it's impossible to see who is doing what. The camera can cut multiple times in a second to disorient you. Nobody is doing anything that looks fancy or skillful, but if they did, you couldn't see. There's not much choerography, people are just flailing around until one guy loses. It's cheap to make since the actors don't need much training or many takes, but you sure as hell aren't coming back 22 years later to watch it again.

This and the Terminator police station scene are my all time favorite unbelievable shooutouts. Two movies way ahead of their time. Glad I witnessed it in theaters when it
I watched his movie for the first time yesterday and was hype as hell. But when I saw Neo's boots hit the ground, I sat on the edge of my bed for the rest of the movie. I was so into it, the best piece of cinema I've ever seen in my life.
I was thinking about this...at least they have the somewhat real aspect of having to drop weapons relatively fast (some still took too long). Yada yada yada scifi blah blah.
My friend built a gaming PC in 2004. He had the graphic card capability tested and this was the benchmark scene the software used to render the CGI. This is how revolutionary this scene was.
I will never forget watching Matrix in 1999. THIS Movie has it all: the story with philosophical meaning , the stellar cast, think outside of the box directing and top notch video/audio editing.
Absolutely wonderful and a new era in cinematic history in The Matrix. Carrie Anne Moss injured an ankle during this take which was continued to be filmed over some time. And apart from “bullet time” personally I think this is one of the most memorable parts from the film. Using a mix of acrobatics, the music by Propellerheads and finally the foley -sound effects to those who don’t know the term, of the tinkle tinkle of shell cases being dispensed all over the floor. -Up until this film was produced I have never heard the use of this technique which proved to be SO effective.
actually she hurt her ankle during the training before the shooting even started, she ketp it a secret or else she would get fired and replaced, then keanu had back surgery and hugo weaving had hip surgery too so the shooting was delayed even more so she managed to heal in time
look how UN tried to do that: got themselves annihilated by bloody Machines and ended up fucking the earth in the process. same can be said for indiscreet rogue nano-aug agents..... or trenchcoat dudes & gals.
God loves us sinners that he willingly died for us so we can repent for our sins. Come to Christ before time runs out. There’s never a guarantee for tomorrow. We either go to two places when we die heaven or hell but Jesus opened the pathway to heaven for us. God loves you. Repent and come to him before it’s too late
The point here is that, he did say at the beginning of the movie that there are people who are so dependent on the Matrix, that they work their lives trying to protect it, which is why Morpheus also treat them as the machines
They have no other option, as they are pretty much the Agent's unwitting henchmen.

Now that's is the Matrix which gives you goosebumps. The whole scene is so perfectly executed. Stylish, charming and very well story-told. Perfect segment of the movie, maybe my one of the most favorite if not the most one. Also the song chosen fits so well. This is art.
the reason why the whole fight is in slow mo is because neo and trinity are moving super humanly fast. so its not quite as bad as storm troopers. these guys got an excuse
Definitely one of the greatest shootouts in film history. The choreography, the timing, the editing, the amount of destruction to the tiles, and even some dark humour sprinkled in, all of it was nailed, and done entirely in-camera with very little if any CGI. Hope to direct fight scenes and shootouts like this in my filmmaking career. Absolute perfection this is.
I think you're right, there's no f bombs dropped in the movie either correct? I feel like it still could have skirted by as PG-13, I mean the Coen Bros True Grit is PG-13 and is more graphic than the Matrix IMO.
I don't recall a single F bomb & the blood is relatively minimal even in this scene but the level of gun violence alone was probably deemed too much for pg-13..
I feel like the disturbing imagery of neo getting his mouth closed, the “crops” and trinity throwing a knife into a dude’s head probably sealed the deal
The fact that this is 25 years old just makes me feel even older than i did a minute ago. Enjoy your 20s and 30s you young folk...it flies. What a great scene.
@@invictuz4803 The sad awful truth. There was actually a story today out of Chicago where a black security guard apprehended a man causing trouble at a bar. When the cops arrived, all they saw was a black man with a gun. They shot and killed the guard who died at the scene. No questions asked. No directives are given. He was shot on site.
The choreography and effects deserve the love they get, but can we talk about how perfectly the music creates excitement and a militaristic atmosphere?

Don't say 20 years it's making me uncomfortable.
@@SpaceMonke99 Its been Twenty Years since this Movie came out, and its better than most Films coming out today.
It wasn't a movie ... it was a documentary 👌
@@rashidhumine , this movie set the bar. That's why it's very hard to surpass the standard set. No doubt many tried and many more will fall short.

we need guns. lots of guns
That Holy Shit line makes him sound impressed more than anything else.
I remember watching this and thinking there is no way they will ever top these movies. 20 years later the effects are still on point!
The amazing thing is, out of all this. No blood splatter and it still tops the most gruesome shootouts in movie history
Never mind the blood, the bodies all evaporated too.
@@JasonKaler I guess they just warped out of the Matrix, lol.
0:42
Are you blind there's plenty of blood splatter
it’s not graphic or gory but you can see splatter if you notice closely
This and the Terminator police station scene are my all time favorite unbelievable shooutouts. Two movies way ahead of their time. Glad I witnessed it in theaters when it
The Terminator one was quite believable. None of the cops 'missed' the Terminator. Unfortunately, it didn't miss them either...
I watched his movie for the first time yesterday and was hype as hell. But when I saw Neo's boots hit the ground, I sat on the edge of my bed for the rest of the movie. I was so into it, the best piece of cinema I've ever seen in my life.
Security: "The metal detector is really going off. Do you hava a lot of spare change and keys?"
Neo: "Guns... Lots of guns."
Lol
Security guard: Holy Shit
Guard: "Haha, very funny. Can you open your coat sir?"
...
"Ah, crap"
1:31 My man being the only one to ever reload during a gunfight in any action movie ever
And he got his ass beat... I think there's a lesson here
Watch John Wick 👍
*John Wick has entered the chat*
😆
In Face/Off, both Sean Archer and Castor Troy reloaded during the hangar shootout.
Back when Matrix movies were good ❤️
It should not be pleural
Literally the best movie scene ever.
Feel sorry for those poor security guys, they were only doing their job.
Or so they believed, in reality they are submerged in goo being harvested for there energy.
Yeah but they weren't there to realize it. For them they just went to work one day and some dude blew them to hell. Good it's just a movie.
Yeah. I get they killed them because every Bluepill is a potential Agent, but it still sucks for them.
Picked the wrong line of work
Fair enough
2:55 You can see the barrel bending lol.
It's probably super hot since the soldier blasted it straight for 3 minutes
@@Adomas_B still it wouldnt bend as easily as that
A bug in the Matrix
Great catch
It could also be a fake plastic gun and the crew didn't notice that mistake on camera or they did and just left it since it's the Matrix.
Who needs to reload when you can just pull yet more guns out of your never ending jacket
"Holy Shit" - Security Guard
Guess that’s why they didn’t ask for lots of ammo too lol
Johnston Steiner faster than reload thats for sure
I was thinking about this...at least they have the somewhat real aspect of having to drop weapons relatively fast (some still took too long). Yada yada yada scifi blah blah.
Neo and Trinity drop their automatic weapons and grab pistols just when the backups arrive.
The Architect probably had a big bowl of popcorn in his lap as he watched this from his little screen room.
So these are the bodies John Wick buried before his retirement.

My friend built a gaming PC in 2004. He had the graphic card capability tested and this was the benchmark scene the software used to render the CGI. This is how revolutionary this scene was.
kinda weird, because I'm pretty sure most of this scene is practical effects lol
I will never forget watching Matrix in 1999. THIS Movie has it all: the story with philosophical meaning , the stellar cast, think outside of the box directing and top notch video/audio editing.
When your boss tells you to come in to work on your day off
Haha Jesus Christ
More like when you're leaving work tryin to avoid customers
Hahahahaha right
Lol
@@Extremefighters as a retail assisstant, i can confirm this is exactly how it feels when your trying to leave the store and avoid customers.
Every frame, every camera pan, every pillar splattered was iconic in this.
-Up until this film was produced I have never heard the use of this technique which proved to be SO effective.
actually she hurt her ankle during the training before the shooting even started, she ketp it a secret or else she would get fired and replaced, then keanu had back surgery and hugo weaving had hip surgery too so the shooting was delayed even more so she managed to heal in time
Outstanding scene for sure!
Indeed it is
BUT PROTO! Why didn't the guns have recoil!?!

I love it how they're trying to save humanity but have zero remorse on killing civilians.
look how UN tried to do that: got themselves annihilated by bloody Machines and ended up fucking the earth in the process.
same can be said for indiscreet rogue nano-aug agents..... or trenchcoat dudes & gals.
Because they can turn into agents at any time.

This movie's slightly dated, but at the time there was NOTHING as cool as this, this was peak cinema for the year
Those cops were just there to make a living 😩
True. In fact, I'm not sure if Morpheus and his team freed or killed more innocent people in Matrix. ;-)
The point here is that, he did say at the beginning of the movie that there are people who are so dependent on the Matrix, that they work their lives trying to protect it, which is why Morpheus also treat them as the machines
It's just a movie..
Don't try this at home 😀
@@MrRoopeshpatel279 hahahaha nice one
They have no other option, as they are pretty much the Agent's unwitting henchmen.
Now that's is the Matrix which gives you goosebumps. The whole scene is so perfectly executed. Stylish, charming and very well story-told. Perfect segment of the movie, maybe my one of the most favorite if not the most one. Also the song chosen fits so well. This is art.
These soldiers are worse than stormtroopers.
the reason why the whole fight is in slow mo is because neo and trinity are moving super humanly fast. so its not quite as bad as storm troopers. these guys got an excuse
Indeed. Plus they are moving vertically in relation of most of the troops, which just makes it ten times harder
They're not soldiers but ok.
easy ai xD
Thats because theyre all aiming at them.
Stand in a line and volley. You cant dodge a whole wall of bullets
The guns, the ballistics, the music. The scene is iconic. The piece of the wall falling off at the very end was the perfect ending.
3:05 "Do not use lift if there is fire"
Totally badass
Security Guards: "Sir, could you please step in through the..."
Neo: "So you have chosen death!"
Good One.
Perfect Dark's variant of this room is so wonderful.
I remember replaying this scene on DVD over and over again on my 5:1 surround sound system because I thought I was a boss......good times!
@Syntheon interesting way to get rid of rats 😂👍🏽
The early 2000s were a simpler time
I had a 7.1 surround sound system back then and I did the same, haha. Good times ;)
0:34 Notice how one of guards does a "dive and shoot"' move as well. The entire shootout scene is choreographed so well.
Still one of the most iconic shoot-out scenes -- EVER!
I remember I was 10 and would watch this scene on repeat to hype myself up for a karate tournament lol
You were precocious! And ya can’t spell that without precious 😜
This is just one of the soo many scenes in the trilogy which you can watch numerous times and still want to watch again, the cinematography is gold
One of the best scenes in action movie history. Truly intense!
Intense
This is very likely the scene most responsible for earning the film an R rating.
@@eido4220 also the weird bug thing
No, there were more bloody violent scenes in the movie that more than justified the rating.
The fact that this is 25 years old just makes me feel even older than i did a minute ago. Enjoy your 20s and 30s you young folk...it flies. What a great scene.
The way Trinity slid on the floor and dropped the weapon was so cool. The Matrix movie was full of cool factors.

That is definitely the matrix and not reality. Swat team arrives with dead bodies all over the place, and they yell "freeze"?
Well, if black ass Morpheus was there then they never would have yelled freeze.
@@Mike_Jones281 Now that's reality.
@@invictuz4803 The sad awful truth. There was actually a story today out of Chicago where a black security guard apprehended a man causing trouble at a bar.
