People from that time don't speak in lies. Harry Belafonte is cut from that cloth. And he lived up to it again. He absolutely spoke the truth about the Democratic party. But sadly the democratic party has built up its own ego to such a great extent that even the words of TRULY GREAT MEN fall on deaf ears. What a tragedy.

First of all, as a CONSERVATIVE, not necessarily a Republican (there is a difference), I actually agree with much of what Mr. Bellefonte said. When he talked about wanting a second party, because there is really only ONE party with varying shades of difference--he was absolutely correct. When he talked about politicians going to the inner cities and seeing the poverty, pandering about it to get elected, and then forgetting about it once in power--he was absolutely correct. When he talked about Bush and the Republicans heading off to war rather than fixing our domestic issues--he was absolutely correct (though plenty of Democrats, including Hillary, were right there with them). When he stated that it is up to the individual people to stand and make things better--he is absolutely correct. Where he is wrong (though not completely) is in not wanting to "seek treaty with Republicans". I would suggest seeking treaty with CONSERVATIVES. Conservatives are the ones who want to help fix schools by allowing school choice--which would allow EVERYONE to take their kids out of the failing public school system and get them into charter or better schools where they can learn. Conservatives are the ones who want to make real change to encourage FAMILIES to stick together, to help end the cycle of single moms and deadbeat dads--which is the root cause of the enormous numbers of incarcerations of the poor. Conservatives are the ones who offer REAL rehabilitation of those incarcerated by seeking to heal the souls of men and women rather than shoving them into a social program. Conservatives want to reward entrepreneurs by allowing tax breaks and removing harsh regulations that stifle business, and by doing so allow small communities to thrive. There are many more advantages, too many to mention. On the other hand, the liberals and Democrats seek to continue to control the poor through pandering and entitlements. You know, in zoos and wildlife preserves, we warn people not to feed the animals because they will become dependent on the handouts, and forget how to forage and feed themselves. I am not saying that the poor are animals AT ALL, so don't go there. However, the point remains. Big Government--Democrats AND Republicans of the UNIPARTY--want to keep people under control. The best way to do that is by handouts and indoctrination. We have given single mothers incentive to stay single, and told fathers they are not necessary. We have indoctrinated 2 or 3 generations now that the "nuclear family" is a myth or a racist trope. The idea that the Republicans want illegals to work as cheap labor is now completely destroyed by the fact that it is the LIBERALS and the DEMOCRATS who are allowing this flood of illegal immigration, which, coincidently, hurts the POOR by taking jobs, sapping the entitlement programs, and increasing crime. Now tell me, who is hurting the poor? Mr. Bellefonte is right. Dead on right. People have to stop looking to politicians and government to fix their problems. We have to fix ourselves--learn to live in cooperation and harmony with each other , helping each other, and seeking the highest good. Perhaps this could come by returning to some core values that we used to cherish and honor--family, justice, absolute good, seeing the person and not the melatonin level or lack thereof. They killed Dr. King because his dream was too close to becoming real. Then we allowed "The War On Poverty" to create a whole new class of slaves and subhumans. Time to fix it. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
