    So many people say zooms make you lazy. But they don't understand that a zoom doesn't make you any lazier than a handful of primes, they just don't seem to expect a prime user to switch lenses rather than move their feet. On a zoom you give a twist of the ring and boom you've switched lenses! This is the convenience of a zoom. Any composition a prime user can make, I can do the same with my zoom.
    It's all in how you use it.

    16-55mm is a superb Zoom☝🏻 but i also use the most time my f2 Fujicron trio primes 😊

    Good to see a video from you again. Over a year ago I got the X-T2 (my first digital camera) with the XF 18-55 and it is great, but I wanted a little more on both ends so I just got the XF 16-80, I really like it. I don't mind the constant f/4 because I shoot mostly at f/8 (i’m not a pro, it’s just for fun).

      _"I don't mind the constant f/4 because I shoot mostly at f/8 (i’m not a pro, it’s just for fun)"_
      I regularly shoot F/5.6 or F/8 on paid jobs. Nothing 'professional' about shooting everything at F/1.2 for the sake of it. Use the aperture that delivers the DOF you need or provides you with the light you need. If you understand DOF(the longer the focal length, shorter the distance to your subject and greater the distance to your background the shallower the depth of field for a given aperture) the 120mm equivalence of the 16-80 can still blur a background at F/4.

      thanks!.. that 16-80 seems likea great all around lens , especially for travel. .. i dont' spend a lot of time with my lenses wide open, f4 is plenty good for most applications.

    Regarding the comment about the 18-55 kit lens having varied reviews, I do wonder if that's caused by some people having the camera set on its default of continuous OIS ... which seems to cause vibration and softness. Hard to tell for sure, but I've seen professional photographers note that. And, in my case, I think I notice the difference. I'm not sure the 18-55 focuses as well as the 16-55 either. I am thinking of switching to X-T4 and 16-55 as my core combination, but hope it won't feel too heavy in my hand when I'm roaming around. For me, the problem isn't so much the 18-55's softness as it is its variable aperture, which makes it fiddlier.

    _"I just want an X-H2"_
    The way they slashed the price on the 'flagship' X-H1's with a battery grip($999) I've got a feeling you will get your wish sooner rather than later.

      an amazing deal for a great camera, great for anyone with an older Fuji (xt1) who wants a step up in technology and WR body but doesn't have enough for Fuji's latest and greatest

    I'm kinda torn between this and something else for wedding videos. Planing on the 18-55 for now, for budget reasons to pair with the xt 4 once it ships. But will I want this to go with it, in place of it, or something else entirely.

    how does the sigma 18-35 compare to the fuji 16-55?

    • @randallherreraNyc
      @randallherreraNyc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      both very sharp lenses' , but obviously with sigma you dont get the same level of AF abilities and , its not quite as wide or long.. it does do 1.8 though... the 18-35 art is one of the best lenses available for crop sensors.. i use it mostly on a gh5 for video , but have also used it for portraits on my Fuji cameras and even on a sony a73.. a great lens if you don't mind the hit you take in AF on Fuji bodies.. works much better though on the latest bodies (xt3 etc)

      Thanks for your very helpful videos. Considering buying the XT3 (or XT4) with the Sigma 18-35 or the 16-55. Which would you recommend more for Travel Videography? Both seems the do amazing pictures but the 18-35 seems to be a bit more stunning.

    18-55 f4 does no justice as a landscape photography so it really depends how you use it

      @@randallherreraNyc No problem , What I was really trying to find out is if you were using the XT3 with 16-55 to film your self talking . Because I am planing to do corporate work ( talking head interviews) with the XT4 and I wanted to know which lens to go for , that works well in AF and will not hunt. I finally ordered the 16-55 2.8 and xt4 , waiting for them to arrive.
