Hey guys, we hope you enjoy the video this week! It's been epic getting this boat ready for the biggest sail of our lives! Thanks for all your lovely comments, make sure to check out that marine growth remover, it's really good. l.clpro.com/wls-04
What a great episode and oooo brave swimmers ..maybe the wind was colder than the water...but getting out OOOO.. I am a painted and loved moms abstract wave painting.. oh and the handstithced quilt is lovely and the century and a half old beautifully preserved thimble is amazing....
It just warms my heart to see the love and support of your parents beaming with pride and with Yoshi approval. You can't fool a dog. The boat is looking good. Stop worrying so much . Let's get that piano out playing "love is all you need". Happy Thanksgiving from the States.
Oh my, that quilt is absolutely beautiful! To have something that precious and hand made by your Grandmother too, makes it priceless and will be an heirloom in your family! I was told many years ago that there is Magic in every quilt. When you cover yourself tightly in it, the fabric will absorb all of your cares & woes, leaving your soul cleansed and refreshed! Use it well kids and God Bless you on this and every passage to come!
on your list of future purchases a 3mm neoprene wet suit each, even after an hour snorkeling in the Caribbean you start to get hypothermia . Your Dad's voice reminds me of my dad's voice which I haven't heard for over 30 years, as he died in 1990. Cheers mates
I really enjoy watching you guys. I’m actually old enough to be your grandpa, you kids are very respectful and sensible. You have great parents and I love Nadiana (sp?), she has such a beautiful heart and she refers to her in laws as our parents. Not many kids today are like you guys. Don’t ever change!! Good luck with your sailing. ❤️❤️❤️
Your parents are lovely. The boat is such a good design and I’m sure you will both make it a great boat for your sailing adventure. Such a wonderful channel.
Look at how to use spring lines to pivot the boat. It is a trick to get a dingy off the dock. Take a line of the stern cleat to a point on shore and back to the cleat. Set the sails so the dingy reverses. It will pivot against the dock. As soon as the bow is pointing away from the dock, reset the sails and let the spring line go. It should work for a bigger boat unless the wind is seriously strong which is perhaps your current situation. I'm loving your channel.
First aid tip. Put honey on your cuts or burns. It has narural antibiotic and antibacterial properties. Put a plaster on top and in a few days it will be healed without a scar. Great for barnacle scrapes. Cheers, S/V Cork
Q: Do you have floating vests for everybody onboard ?? Hope so ! And always have them out of storage while crossing. An add on your wish list: a diving wet suit. Even in southern seas in summer, deep waters are cold. The mediterranean sea is cold 12/12. Fair and safe winds guys !
The quilt that your Granny sewed for you both and also giving Nadyana the thimble. The story behind it was so heart felt. Just to know that she sewed every stitch and that thimble was on her finger the whole time. I know that she sewed it with the purest of love. What a treasure for you both but mainly for Nadyana. I knew she was going to cry and I began to first. It really touched my heart and cried my eyes out. Mark, your parents love your wife as they do you and there's no doubt that Nadyana loves them too. When Nadyana pressed those flowers for your granny a couple years ago was a very special moment as well. I feel safer for you two having your parents aboard on your first proper sail. This was a great episode. Nadyana, where are you gonna put that thimble so that you don't loose it. Maybe needs to go in the ditch kit. But you also want it somewhere you 2 can see and treasure it too :) put it inside an air tight container though. God bless and Fairwinds
I'm sure having Mum & Dad will give you the confidence to embark on your trip. They love, trust and support you and it must give you a huge boost knowing that they have chosen to be part of your adventure. Happy sailing
I had a diesel engine that started like that, it was a small leak in the line, not enough to let diesel leak out but enough to let air in the line so every time I turned it off the fuel would drain out of the lines causing the hard start up, hope you get yours fixed, if you ever need it in a hurry your hooped
Your mum and dad must love the way Nadyana calls them 'our parents', a very sweet thing from a master diplomat and relationship builder. Loved this episode. Minke seems very homely with two generations aboard. Love the wave painting (yes, right there on the wall!) and the hand-stitched quilt with the silver thimble. Priceless. Can't wait for the Spain voyage!
All year videos are great, but this one felt very family orientated and humble, love the way your dad got so involved in everything too. Love the respect you have for your parents. Love the way you all love Yoshi and involve him in everything. Finally your mums painting was awesome and that quilt granny made is stunning.
Loved the pressie opening and that quilt omg. Its like living heritage art..and such a beautiful thoughtful gift. Deep respect. We need to meet grannie!
Let’s face it, with not a lot of cash, and a lot of work you have a nice boat which I suspect will give you many happy times over the next few years. I wish you two many years of gaining happy memories and a huge amount of experience in life . Whatever happens I wish you good fortune and more happy times than sad ones - but the sad ones will add to your lifetime experience. I am, at 84 years old, totally green with envy. ⛵️👍🇬🇧
If it wasn't for Nadiyana and her positive attitude it could be quite depressing. I love your channel and you have been so determined to get as much done as possible by yourself it's just that you always seem to be looking at the negative and it sort of rubs off. You and Nadiyana have turned this vessel into something special despite the negative comments about whether it will make, your amazing so no more negativity and a lot more positivity. Stay safe J.
Hiya,,,As Mark's Mom, I can honestly say, hand on heart, Mark hasnt a negative bone in his body! He just takes it very seriously, is respectful of the sea & sees Nadiayana & of course Yoshi, as his precious cargo!🤗🌟😀
For me leaving and docking is the most stressful part of boating. Once your out in open water it becomes more relaxing. Your cat sails beautifully, you could have used the main, but go with your comfort zone. Yoshi is now an official boat dog, chilling with your mom. The painting is awesome, nice addition to Minke.
It looked like the Wind was blowing you onto the dock... tricky but the answer is to hold one line close to the dock and swing the other end out ... Either by trying to push your bow out. Or by pulling the bow line in letting the stern line out and using the prop wash and rudders to swing it right out till your well clear across the channel if you go into reverse and slip the front line you will be clear to reverse out and bring the front around to move ahead. The single line as long as its strong enough will act as a pivot point... sliding away as you pay out the line🤔. It should be easier if the winds trying to push you off the dock. You dont have to push or drive the one end against the wind ...you can use it.
@@WildlingSailing you can use a spring line to bring the bow of the boat away from the dock with out actually moving the boat. Something to practice when you get a clear ock
Now this where a twin engined Cat'd be really good, half ahead on one, half back on the other and of you turn. Nice drivin though, Wildings Sailing! Nice 1, got it all down! Thanks m8, you and yours stay safe and well.
When I saw Mark’s drawing, I thought he’s either a Artist or a Engineer! Then I saw the “Wave” & the beautiful handmade quilt & realized that you come from a long line of Artists and Craftsmen and they love you both very much. What a wonderful visit and sail for everyone, it was a great video too!
Aww Mark you truly are blessed. Along with a lovely wife and the cutest doggie, you have such a wonderful mom and dad. I loved the beautiful quilt and the painting is cool and vibrant and ...such treasures! 💙
I adore you guys an your parents.. you both come from class people.. I am crying from the beautiful quilt made with so very much love an the 150 year old thimble... This episode warmed my heart , brought tears to my eyes... What a beautiful episode you Mum's art is stunningly beautiful an the quilt too a work of art .. both made with love an your Dad just a great man .... Thanks for sharing your lives with us and fare winds an following sea's guy's.... ✌🏻💗😊❣️
I was going to say use the Stern spring line to help lever you off the pontoon … but others mentioned the spring before I did … I'm not keen on climbing on other people's boats (unless it's a rafting situation) but moving them without permission I would avoid in case you damage their vessel or you don't tie the lines back the way they were and the lines come undone and their vessel goes for an unexpected trip adrift, I have seen it happen. I think the Thumbs Down was from that Cat owner whose vessel you moved … 🤣😂🤣
Hello Mark in your wonderful wife and Yoshi and most of all your parents that is a very heartwarming gift a hand sewn quilt my grandma made one years ago well she made a few don't know whatever happened to them after I moved away some years back. Bless your hearts you deserve to have that wonderful gift keep it safe and dry and I love you be safe and stay healthy good to see your parents again on the boat with you and Mark you need to be careful with your fingers even a finger can stop you from doing important things on the boat anyways be safe God bless all of you watching from Roseville California USA Ray Garrett with love

Getting away from the pontoon was hampered by Minke's windage... a catamaran thing. You should learn to 'spring' the boat off.... using spring lines, and perhaps the wind too.
My thoughts exactly. Using springs and differential thrust, windage should not be an obstacle to springing off. You just need some training and reliable engines (oops, maybe they have neither here). But the biggest kicker here is that you don't climb aboard another person's boat uninvited, and you most certainly don't move that boat without permission - lacking a real emergency, simple as that. Doing what they did is inexcusable. If you need help to get out, you simply call in the marina people because if they catch you doing this then the marina will ban you and likely call the police. (I wonder if the marina people have seen this video...)
That was a fabulous episode guys. Coffee on the way. You have such fab parents who clearly give you and Nadyana full support and encouragement. I hope the trip went well' I’m sure it did. Beautiful painting by your mum and the quilt and thimble are a beautiful family heirloom to treasure on Minke. I thought you had packed Joshi in the dinghy bag at one point lol. hi you two, if you are pinned in to the wharf by wind, or no room to manoeuvre, try setting an anchor from your dinghy and then winch the boat into the clear water. Sounds easy but you are on a boat so usually never that straight forward. Good luck and happy travels!
Just saying your tender strapped to the deck could come in handy if things go wrong. I had a 2.4 Smart Wave tender that was also considered as a life boat.. It was PVC and foam filled unsinkable.
What a lovely family! Thank you for sharing your adventures and sharing your sailing journey, you are gaining experience all the time and it’s great to see. I wish you all the best and many happy adventures. Stay safe and happy sailing ⛵️
I know that this is probably out of sequence but my Volvo Penta use to be a pig to start. I would crank and crank until it eventually fired. My problem turned out to be bent con rods probably caused by water syphoning into the cylinders. After I stripped it down and changed these it would start immediately. Not a simple task I know but the engine ran so well afterwards. Incidentally I now live in Spain in l'Ametlla de Mar which is on the Med coast about 150kms south of Barcelona. My route here was exactly yours. If your voyage brings you this way then you are very welcome to drop off for some Iberian hospitality, a washing machine and a well equipped workshop. l'Ametlla is a charming fishing port with a small marina and visiting berths and we are just 2 kms away from the port.
A nice episode, very touching to have family aboard and the precious gift from Granny to Nadyana. Hope that finger heals quickly....hard to do when living on a boat and doing passages...all ten fingers are needed multiple times per day...ouch! Looking forward to see how that passage went.
Great to see the smiles and you guys spending time with family. The boat is treating you great to this point cant wait to see your passage next week. Stay happy and safe

good job with that sail thats the joy of mizzens they keep boats balanced without the main sial and 5knots is fine

Getting away from the pontoon was hampered by Minke's windage... a catamaran thing. You should learn to 'spring' the boat off.... using spring lines, and perhaps the wind too.
Yeah, we did try the spring but it just wasn't enough power to get it to spin out against that wind blowing us right on to the dock!

When you are the captain, you worry. It is part of the job. But you have taken precautions for your family. Eyeeye captain. ♥️🙏
Looking nice with the family. You are doing well
Nearly made me cry again towards the end there. I must be getting old. Nice episode! 😎
Great to see the smiles and you guys spending time with family. The boat is treating you great to this point cant wait to see your passage next week. Stay happy and safe
That is great oil and additive for the diesel engine, I do think it will help a lot, and quiet the engine too👍🏻
There is a synergy between the main and Genoa it creates it’s own wind
Hoobits from the Preston 😂 only 80 miles from me I must be a more northern Hobbit 😂
