You see these dudes in public and you may think they're just a couple of muscle heads, but in actuality they're extremely knowledgeable about diet and nutrition. The only criticism I'd give them is about dairy foods (such as yogurt) and calcium. The acids in cows milk eat away at your bones, and so you actually get a net loss of calcium by consuming dairy. Much better ways to get calcium, such as with fruits and vegetables. And even some types of fish.

It’s nice to hear a contrasting opinion once in a while.
I agree with Stan that vegetable oils are detrimental and with his stance on caffeine. Rice is also the most calorie dens grain and the amino acids are absorbed significantly faster than in most other grains. Oats are also great but they are higher in protein and fat.
I just wonder why he recommends eggs because they pose a risk for salmonella even when hard boiled.
I know these strongman need over 8 or even 9000kcal but the amount of saturated fats and cholesterol is just rediculous on the arteries. I hope at one point both athletes can transition away to other protein and fat sources.

Jason blahas favorite bodybuilder I think because of subsidies eggs are cheap in a lot of Western countries and they are genuinely a bro-food in the bodybuilding community. The research on protein bio-availability also scores egg protein very high.
Not that these have been shown to give a significant long term benefit when compared to equal amounts of protein from lower bio-availability sources though above an intake of 1.15g of protein per kg of bodyweight.

      Wenning Strength
Some sources to back up the 50-70mg/dl claim.
For people who have already had a heart attack going lower than 50-70 seems to be beneficial also.

@Gore4ever FulciLives I think what he did was a) took all the recommendations from the World Health Organisation and New York Heart association in regards to heart heath, diabetea etc. b) Did the exact opposite = new diet fad

@@WenningStrength I hear what your saying, and respect it, but Shaw has only seen a decline in performance during past few years, since doing the Efferding diet. Performance comes down to so many factors, age, training, PE drugs etc etc. But granted oranges might always be a healthy addition to any athletes diet

      My guess is 1g of rice = 1g of carbs = 4 Calories. 1000g = 4000 calories.
