Predict in the future this technology will become slimline and available to masses
Age 68. Two years ago, I started doing a few deep pressups on the hour, most hours. Since then, I've been able to work overhead all day, turn to look backwards on bicycle like when I was younger, etc. Swinging kettle weights up to 16kg about 50 swings from one hand to the other plus sone symmetrical 2-handed lifting above head gives me all the strength and flexibility I need. Helps my walking gait. At my age doing relatively heavy DIY jobs, this tool is not for my wallet. Looks fun though
68 and doing all that, you do realise what a lucky bastard you are, don't you?
The first person to turn up at work with this on there back is going to get more abuse than they can comprehend and will never wear it again. I can’t wait 😂😂😂
Are you serious about that? Just buy the whole team one and no one will make fun of eachother😂
@@themmgamer1227 yeah sorry boss. didn’t get much done today as my suit of armour was on charge…
More like we'll dave u finnished the whole job in a day , have rest week off cheers see u next Monday
This is making me think about all the duct work I used to hang. This would have come in handy.
Game changer for the industry. A very welcomed new piece of tech indeed
I really think so. Could save a lot of backs👍 Got a video coming out soon on how much endurance you gain while using it😎
I use a heavy power pruner to limb trees on our property. This could really make using it far less fatiguing.
Yes it would! If I was you I would go and check it out once it’s available on the market! It’s quite an investment (in Europe it will sell for around €2800 ex vat) but if it saves your back? What do you think?
Probably better to get upper body fit. Plenty of videos for deep pressups (just 5 on the hour most hours) swinging kettle weights, and holding plank. Barely fifteen minutes a day total. Age 68, I've done it for 2 years. Despite being runner, cyclist, swimmer for decades, wish I'd done this decades ago. Huge benefits for working overhead, walking better, etc
I'll wait for the £150 black&decker version have u seem the price!
It’s intense I agree but if you use it on your day to day job… maybe your employer buys it for you.. I don’t know I guess it could help a lot of people
@@FennahMakes without a doubt its a good innovation, some jobs on site are ball breaking and would be usefull for repetition work
Looks like Perfect Solution for heavy machine Gunner :) just Wonder what army have ....
Myself and one or two others need this to carry the rest of the company
I have the Hilti one I like it, weighs 3 lbs or something very light and no battery.
That’s the difference, this one is driven by a compressor and the Hilti one is pneumatic if I’m correct…
I cannot lift my right arm above my head due to a gunshot wound in my shoulder joint. Could this enable me to raise my arm completely?
I honestly don’t know. It supports your movement but you got to move your arm yourself. Maybe give it a try at a festool roadshow??
Hilti did something like this few years ago don't know if it caught on ?
I don’t know either, but Festool is the first to use compressor driven, motorized exoskeletons for this purpose I believe, correct me if I’m wrong!
I wonder if there is a plan for one for your bottom half.
My knees are knacked so i would be interwsted in that.
But 5 kg of assistance isnt that much.
There are currently exo suits being made, also for people who can’t use their legs anymore! But I don’t think they will be affordable for the public
Hey your body limit is even .. your arms match your leg strength . If you add more weight to your arms with a machine like this , adds stress to the lower back hips and knees . Over time this will cause damage , cause and effect thanks for info
I have lower back pains but the ExoActive is made in such way it doesn’t really stress the lower back! It even takes off some pressure of the lower back when lifting things!!
@FennahWoodworking hey sounds like it helps you .. but the weight is still on your body so the stress is getting sent to another area . Thanks good to hear its helping
Hi guys, did anyone see the smoke? at 4:25 you can see some smoke coming from the controller what is it? also the smoke can be seen behind around 4:22 .. it looks like steam
Welcome to the future
Jet packs for roofers, scaffs and tree surgeons
Wearable massage chairs for management
You have to push the button with one hand while lifting the weight with the other? But without the suit you could use both hands instead?
No you turn it on before operation and select the ‘zone’ you want it to work in. You can use both hands after it’s turned on!
Where is this smoke comming from at 4:25?
@@FennahMakes fun fact. Few years back I was looking for something from Makita as most of my tools are Makita. And I was browsing on the internet and landed on Japanese website where obviously I couldn’t understand anything but there were drawings with tools from Makita. It was looking all genuine. That was ages ago but some of the tools I have seen there were showing tools that came out later on for example coffee machine and kettle. One of the drawings was showing exo skeleton project which I believe never came to life but it’s interesting to see that they were thinking about it. It was showing all the details and how to wear it. I will link it here when I find it
@@Lukas-go2wv that’s awesome! I know Hilti (I believe) has an exoskeleton but it’s pneumatic driven, not by battery and compressor! Guess more brands are thinking about making it! Love to see those drawings when you find them!!
You get the shit ripped out of you with that on any uk site, it would be relentless.
You mean the machine malfunctioning, or people making fun of the user?
@@FennahMakesyeah, that's what he's saying but who cares if helps save your back, shoulders and neck , especially great for us ageing tradesmen with various injuries and parts that don't work properly anymore 😅
This is the beginning of the end for construction workers. They'll upgrade it until it's a full suit, then they'll put AI in it so it can work without you in it :P
@@vagrant1943 fair point, you didn’t… but you know, it’s the internet, always hard to understand people’s intent from a comment
Aside from tons of hardworking ppl losing their jobs, it would be cool to see one day, but like I said, feel bad for the ppl losing those jobs if it does happen, including myself..
Do they make them for men?
How much does it cost?
@bamf6603 I just got informed it costs €2800 ex VAT. Which translates to $3150 ex VAT in Dollars
you didnt even wrestle a bear with it, im disappointed.
Wow that would be a great video idea! Too bad it's not related to my niche xD
Hilti represented similar thing over two years ago
@@FennahMakes
Not yet) cause last one and half years I run in plate carrier. Hopefully I will survive and will check bought of them)
@RomaN-vk4hz I hope you survive as well! Let me know how you like both of them!
All that for just xtra 5KG of weight lift?
I get what you say, it doesn’t sound like much. But if you get the opportunity, you should give it a test run to see what it actually does, for example when working over your head with the Planex. Thanks for the comment!
Interesting. So it is more to reduce fatigue over time vs assisting in bursts with heavy loads?
It should be come so slim if you put an over roll one you wont or barly see it. Thus aint no one making fun of you...
Being made fun of isn’t as bad as all the complaints you could get from hard labour
Looks like you would be sweating all the time underneath the straps. Looks uncomfortable and I don't like the sound either.
But as always there could be market for it, and then there are the Festool Cult members who will buy just any overpriced item from the Festool catalogue, similar to Apple Cult members.
It’s very noisy, could be pretty annoying isn’t?
The compressor is actually quite subtle, especially when you have some music on!
Looks a lot better than that guardian XO piece of shit that costs a fortune and basically just gets in the way.
The demonstration video was a soldier loading boxes and fitting a tyre. My dad was in the army as a mechanic for 22 years, didn't need any help lifting wheels or lifting tyres, still strong now at 75, no injuries .
My point is - I can see the purpose and the usefulness of the festool product, but many of the others are just nonsense!
so you need the extra power to compensate the extra 7kg , maybe they make one for the legs to...
put on 7kg to gain 5kg power
🤣
The weight is on your back and borne by your waist. And $3000 is a lot less than rotator cuff surgery. I know it looks weird and I’m a tough old tradesman, but if there’s no need to work our bodies until they’re broken, why would we. It’s great that the health and we’ll being of laborers is finally being respected.
“Obviously dis is the on off button” - no not obvious mate, never sen anything fucking like this in my life!!
For anyone considering this, just whistle in the wife to lift it for you.
Much cheaper and you can ask her what she wants for dinner at the same time...
Win Win
I cant wait to go to work dressed like buzz lightyear. Hard hat,hi vis, boots....fuck me im glad im out of this game😂😂😂
Sh sh sh
Surely it'll make you weak if you rely on it a lot
You still use your arms.. it just supports you to increase endurance it doesn’t take over your muscles😂
Hassle. You have to tell it if you want overhead assistance what a faff. Who would actually buy that monstrosity
It never crossed your mind to lift some things with it?
FESTOOL EXOACTIVE put to the TEST! Will it increase endurance?
th-cam.com/video/5GuKMv90X38/w-d-xo.html
Nope this is a flop! Festool is great but this is a failure
Have you tried it on? When working over your head it’s quite convenient and really supports your arms…👍
@@FennahMakes Yes I have tried it in combination with the Planex. Its not feeling comfortable (natural)and the 5kg lighter is not worth the price. Not many people will gonna buy this in Holland.
@@dwm27-26 Have you tried a mechanical shoulder exo already? I would take a look at the Auxivo DeltaSuit!
New generation don’t won’t to work anymore don’t want to sweat!!
But hopefully in future they will make real AI robots so they can work and help!
I never want that ! but as I see every day ppl don’t want to work any more they think everything is dvd game! I’m talking a vast majority of young generation! Ppl don’t want manual working anymore they want digital and virtual human relations! So ppl who have factories will hire machines! That’s a fact
Our ancestors will be laughing at us from beyond the grave! My grandfather used to take the piss because I had a cordless driver.Just develop some muscles, it’s like taking viagra without E.D.
Yes, but imagine doing it their way, todays generation would not be able to cope without electrical appliances and tools😂
I think the cordless drill is just for adding more screws in less time. There's still strength involved in carrying the lumber etc. But I agree that not everything should replace the human body.
