900 hours into this game and I just realised the garrison can sally out of settlements. Game changing.
Been like that in total war for a long time iirc.

@@tairkhairushin6240 Settlement like armies have a zone of control (red area when hovered) if you stand inside that with an army the garrison will help in battle. Same goes with a besieged settlement and an army standing outside of it; in the zone and your army will reinforce if they attack the settlement.
How can you miss that with 900 hours in? You never had a situation like that? There is no way :O

Almost all of Legend his cheese is usefull regardless of difficulty level XD
@@RomanHistoryFan476AD The dodging only works as great as it does because of the way our dodging pattern undermines how the aim system works.
And because the AI is stupid as shit, they have no idea how to deal with that.
Of course you can also call the magic siege cheese "only avoiding enemy sight lines while casting", but we all know what we are doing there xD

what I really love about this serie is the edit ! we don't have to suffer loading times (in ME that's a pretty big deal)
and the info is much more compact.

I'll admit the best thing about this was the numerous edits, makes the video much more enjoyable. I know it's more work for less content, but it gives better quality. Keep it up all the same o/
Please do Bretonnia next, I really like them even when they were considered bad in TW :)
Bretonnia is easy, just fuck up your public order asap and fight every greenskin rebel twice (the -20 po event for 20 turns is broken). After that you have a really high lvl lord or 2 and enough chivalry to use the green knight untill you get the next tier, do w/e you want with a lvl 20 lord after
Playing bordeleaux is very easy since it gives you a bost in trade income (i belive 25%) meaning you can just spam trade agreements with other factions also bretonian technology tree allows you to easly confederate with other bretonian factions. In my playthrough (mortal empires) i was able to unify bretonia and the bretonian araby factions under 60 turns. If you rush the confederation tech you could unify in prob 20-30 turns
Bretonnia is the most cheesy of factions for the first 20 turns. Chivalry is multiplied by the number of lords you can have in battle (max 4). So Bretonnia's strategy is to farm rebellions with a minimal number of troops and 4 lords. It's pretty easy to get close to 2k chivalry in the first 20 turns as you can get two decisive victories per turn.

Only been subbed for a little while and came across this just today. This is, imo, by far the most insightful series of guides bar none. The way you explain the process of building your faction up on Legendary makes a lot of sense, and I'm actually looking forward to launching into a campaign on the highest difficulty for the first time. Thanks loads for uploading, Legend. You're the biggest boss that ever bossed big.

I agree this is a great series. What I’d love to see is, the day after you post one of these, you continue that save in a livestream for the day. That way you can end the video with a hook to come watch your livestream for the next steps to take. I think it would drive livestream people to the videos and video watchers to your livestream. Look forward to the next one!

Hellebron is a beast in melee, even on Legendary difficulty (in her Cauldron, ofc), but I agree that she is harder than others DE lords.

@@rogaldorn2109 It is, especially when the Blood Voyage just gets obliterated past turn 50.
Hellebron's start though is rough, one of the roughest. Your territory is held by 2 different factions and an uncolonized settlement. Your capitol doesn't even have a port (which is weird because lore-wise Har Ganeth does indeed have a port) and your start income is terrible. You need slaves, but the only sources of slaves you need in the quantity to trigger Death night are through Ghrond with the skaven. You got like 2-3 turns max to capture Ghrond, else your economy is going to be worthless. Not impossible on legendary, but pretty rough if you don't have Legend in your name haha.

Great series, I find Skaven really hard to start so would love to see a guide on them. Honestly I'd watch every army multiple times, the guide format is a great fit for your skills and extensive firsthand knowledge. I did notice a few weird cuts that left me wondering what they were for, at one point you talk about a short battle you have to do manually but it's missing and when the video picks back up you've already allocated Ungrim's level up skill points. Nothing that can't be inferred, just wondering if these videos really need that much in the way of editing. Obviously I'm no expert and appreciate the content either way, thanks again

I beat every totalwar on Legendary difficulty( that had one) and I didn't know holding alt will target ground!

Awesome idea for a series! One for each starting lord would great! If two or more lord starts from same location and are significantly different, just include a bit about their strengths and weaknesses, and how using that lord would affect your game play.

1. Rune Lords are in the TOP5 of best Non-Legendary Lords, dont hesitate to get them.
Especialy when you match them with a Thane.
2. Disciplined or Strategist are the best traits if you want to keep them.
3. Destroying an Orc army is not always a wise thing to do. Once defeated, Greenskins end up with low "fightiness" which results in inner fighting and a massive attrition hit. If you also wipe the army, a new one will pop and be ready for battle within three turns.
Be advised that Grombrindal is the best LL for the Dwarf campaign. A slightly higher learning curve but not so difficult to understand!
The first time I watched your videos I recognized what your marketable skill(s) is. You are extremely good at breaking down content and exercising a skill until you make zero mistakes. We as an audience really like watching your content to feel the way the game works empathetically.
I love this good feeling, when I hear from you a good part of what I already figured out myself. I bought the game recently. I struggle at army composition in the late game. I haven't tested everything and I don't know what is the best overall for every faction.
Finished every campaign on legendary at least twice in this game. Didnt know alt was the hotkey to target ground. never bothered to check. tnx :D
Hey legend theres this mod called "world war" that makes all factions of the same race Confederate. I think that could be a really cool camping for a livestream

I would love to see how to do the Wood Elves first twenty turns or so. I often find myself struggling with the bretonian forces and end up getting locked in Athel Loren without the money to keep the expensive units alive.

22:46 I find that creating a ZOC between Pillars of Grugni and Mount Squighorn by placing your LL's army there tends to force them to jump into that no-retreat area just south of Squighorn.
Really good idea, those first turns can be a real bitch. Would love to see you do a Skaven one next, really want to play a full campaign with them but I never seem to get off on the right foot.

i only ever play H2H mortal empires with a mate, we've recently moved to this difficulty level and although frustrating at times i doubt i'd go back now. Looking forward to more of these!

Thanks for this. Still works as of Feb 2021, bar the some very minor differences in how the roll of the dice lands. The Ambush technique is especially useful to encourage the AI to come and attack you.
Thanks Legend! That was fantastic. I've often found myself playing Teclis or Khalida on the Vortex Campaign, and both pose difficulties. Khalida because it's early tomb kings against lizardmen and Teclis once you reach that stupid nuke rat. I would love to see some Vortex campaign guides since most people seem to only do stuff with Mortal Empires now. Cheers!

I probably won't play on Legendary difficulty anytime soon as I just have 95 hours in the Warhammer universe. But these tips will help us out immensely really. I didn't know about the orange obstruction symbol from artillery for example.

Couple of questions:
1. Where should you expand after The Silver Road is secure?
2. Do you need to leave an army behind to defend The Silver Road?
I usually push up north after Silver Road to keep Broken Spearz from coming from there and to get Zhufbar as a trade partner/buffer, then push south when done and fight greenskins for forever. You don't really need an army once the silver road is built up but it doesn't hurt

@@LK-gl3rj Good luck with the campaign. Once I'm ready with consolidating the silver road, i normally hide Thorgrim in ambush stance to guard, recruit my 2nd lord and build up the army. You might go a little in the red, but you should have enough money to be okay. Then Thorgrim can go take the settlements up north and link up with Zhufbar. Keep Zhufbar as a secure border against vampires
I'm doing it on VH/VH and the green tide is absolutely nuts. Army after army, but its good for experience
Just focus on tanking with your lord and fire artillery into them as much as you can and you should be fine
Do one of these videos for Count Noctilus. While he's technically another "easy" start location, it would be interesting to learn how you prioritize upgrading his ship vs. his settlement, conquering vs. pirate coves, and how you go about cycle sacking with him for leveling purposes. Thanks!

Very good series, this helps a lot. I've tried to play as the Dwarfs on Legendary and I just get swamped under greenskin tides.

Norsca! Love their story and roster, but find it difficult to manage that middle ground between horde and empire-building faction.
I love it! I play on VH/VH all the time, but I never have any fun on legendary because I just get destroyed. I'm looking forward to more from this series.
Thorgrim's battle card looks like he's constantly smoking a Cuban cigar.
With the greenskin uptade the dwarfs are in a way more fun. Because it's harder and it feels more like you are defending against an unending green tide. Even the skaven die from grimgor now.

I hate difficulty settings that just boost the AI's stats/nerfs the player's stats.
It's not how the game was balanced or really meant to be played.
Higher difficulties should just make AI play better, more aggressive and punishing.
I kinda agree. But making AI better in such a complex game is hard af.
I can settle for AI cheats to make the game harder, but I would prefer them not to be plain stupid.
That greenskins have a billion armies that cost nothing does justice to the lore.
That you are forced to focus on ranged units because your melee units have been nerfed into oblivion to the point that longbeards cannot deal with goblins..... that just sucks.

Lokhir Fellheart - The Blessed Dread. I love the Dark Elves, but I've got Malekith and Hellebron down pretty well. Lokhir Fellheart has Luthor Harkon, Tehenauin, Skrolk, Teclis, and the Dreadfleet to deal with. That's a tough spot. I would love a 20 turns for Lokhir.

Dark Elves
I started a legendary Grombrindal campaign before seeing this. I made the mistake of trying to take more settlements after the first province. Lost mount squig couple times before I decided to just turtle until I got the walls. Now it's turn 40 and I still have dwarf warriors facing black orc doomstacks. Still winning though cause Grombey boy is OP and with research, red line and his ancestor things buffing my troops my dwarf warriors are bustin' the black orcs down with 30+ MA and 60+ MD (not to mention like 4 grudge throwers and quarrelers).
20:12 how do you move your units like that? having their placement show on the ground and are able to drag them forward. that's so much more time efficient than having to right click drag them
Select units then hold alt and left click one of the units and drag.
I noticed now after the last patch (January 26 2021) that there is a huge difference between Warhammer and Warhammer 2: Mortal Empires when it comes to dwarves range units damage ability. In the original TW: Warhammer game you have less then half of the DPS.

I do it like this: Occupy Mount Squighorn on T2, take the underway south to the border between The South Road and Karag Dron on T3, start sacking Karag Dron on T4. You'll have enough movement between the border and the Karag Dron to sack and go back and recruit every turn. So now you get to grow The Silver Road straight away and you level your lord while at the same time you're an underway trip away to one of your minor settlements in case an army comes from the west.

Holy shit! I've had a hard time playing the dwarfs in the beginning of campaigns on the second hardest difficulty because of the relentless assault of the green hoard. For whatever reason I never thought of bunkering down the first region to expand.
