  • A tribute to one of Hollywood's finest stuntmen. When this documentary was shown in the UK it was preceded by an introduction by British stuntman Roy Alon. One of the top 'high-fall' men introducing a tribute to another. It was then released on video as 'Stunt Wars II'. Enjoy and marvel at this incredible man who was taken from us at only 39.

    I was aware of Dar Robinson as a kid growing up watching episodes of "That's Incredible" where they would feature his latest greatest work. When he died I was 13 years old and cried my eyes out. Where the hell is the Oscar for best stuntperson and best stunt choreography? If they can honor people that design costumes and do makeup, how can they not honor this incredibly complex and dangerous work?

    I met Dar with my then husband, Myles, In California while he was jumping off the San Pedro bridge, for a movie. We went to his home for dinner and i met his pregnant wife , Linda. it was a fun day and we were supposed to get together again but our schedules prevented this from happening and then Dar met his untimely demise while taking a break from filming. He was a really nice guy and it is a tragedy. . that he did not live to meet his child . Rest in Peace, Dar.

    I met Dar Robinson when he was about 12 years old, in 1959. I was also a trampolinist in those days, and met Dar and Dan Millman giving an exhibition on trampoline at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona, California. There was this particular technique of "bouncing" another person on the trampoline by pushing down the trampoline just before the performer landed. Dan Millman was "bouncing" Dar in a series of Codys (back flips from stomach landing to stomach landing) and Dar was going unbelievably high. Though Dan was actually a better trampolinist and later won the world trampoline championship while he and I were roommates at UC Berkeley in 1964, Dar was always the biggest daredevil. He was always willing to do the wildest tricks, even at that very young age. I was very saddened to hear of his early demise in 1986, though somehow it seemed inevitable. Of course it's ironic that his death resulted from a motorcycle accident, not from one of his amazing and dangerous stunts.

      @behindthestunts: The audio in this version of this documentary is horrid. The music, wind, screaming, etc., at various points throughout this video is terrifyingly bad; in particularly at 17:53, 31:03 & 38:46. If there is any way to take this documentary, remaster it and upload that new, remastered, version that would be awesome.
      Thanx!

    DAR ROBINSON.....without doubt the worlds greatest stuntman of his time and can possibly still hold that title today when you watch this brilliant documentary and marvel at the incredible stunts he performed and the world records he held and probably still does to the day! Unbelievably brave, intelligent and a very clever, nice guy. This film is a must watch for all stunt performers out there.

    I am glad I grew up during the last era of real stuntmen. Most movies now a days, all the stunts are fake. Seeing a real crazy dude, or dudette do something absolutely bat shit insane and walk away always left my jaw on the floor. Could be a shakey cell phone video (veritcal at that) of a dude jumping off his wood shed and id find that more exciting than a 10 million dollar CGI stunt scene of a guy jumping into a volcano and warping to the 6th dimension

      He was amazing as a kid from the '80s I can tell you that . Evel Knievel and all that he definitely would have been able to hold his own with him. But sadly much like Evel Knievel and other people that that type he pushed his limits too far and he died period but he went out doing something he loved something that is in his blood real adrenaline junkie I don't think he would ever be sorry for it sad that he died so young but not sad that he died doing the thing that he loved most.

  • @budekins542

    He took stuntwork to its limits and yet put safety first. The best of the best. .(If you remember that sports programme that used to come on in the 70s and 80s - "World of Sport" with Dickie Davies. .well, in those rare weekends when World of Sports wasnt on - ITV sometimes showed one-off stunt specials - I think they were called "Superstunt". In one episode Dar Robinson jumped a car backwards onto a row of parked cars. I dont care how much padding he had on - that would have hurt!)

But he didn't want to die but as high risk as his job was he knew that it could happen any day and he's not at any time. Is there a little bit of a rush that you get when you evade this yeah sure I don't think he was suicidal though I think he like was what I said and adrenaline junkie he got off on not dying. The fact that he died doing them something that he loved would he would have liked that

    8:32 ... interesting line... "If you push real hard, you might just hit the pool" .... Water, is a symbol of repentance... But it is not the act of covering yourself with water, but what is going on inside you that counts. Genuinely repentant? John baptized Jesus WITH water, but you must be baptized IN the name of the Lord.... If you think about it, He is a New Ark, and it is both sufficient and necessary that you be found IN Christ... to escape when God destroys this second world, with fire ....See, 2 Peter 3 : 6-7, kjv... A passage : Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.Acts 19:4-5, kjv. ... Think of a Russian Matroyshka doll if that helps.

      @rowdyyeats9986 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +rowdy yeats .. and blood is associated with ... faith, forgiveness, and death (as in the wages of sin is) .... If you think about it, sin itself became guilty, for they condemned the guiltless, and so ... by dying, sin was vanquished (for sin sinned, and had to die), and being without sin, death could not hold Him.... circumcision.. a word, but not referring to a physical act, unless followed by the phrase 'of the flesh' ... There is another phrase, 'circumcision of the heart' ... ever feel that, cut? ... there is a baptism that is not with water, as in H2O (hydrogen dioxide)... It is written THAT in those days, He will POUR OUT of His Own Spirit upon ALL flesh, and whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. See, Acts 2 : 17-21, kjv.... God has made his son Jesus Lord. Jesus Christ is Lord. ... Eh, it cannot be "rocket science", because He would not make it that difficult, y'know? For God is Love.

      "If you push real hard you might hit the water." Was a line in the movie that Dar's character had said earlier to someone else. Burt Reynolds character was playing out a "reap what you sow moment" for Dar's character death scene. Reminding him how he didn't show mercy when in the same situtation, so Burt's character gave him the same advice that Dar's character gave to someone else earlier in the movie. Dar's character was an extremely bad guy.
