At the time Liza and Goldie were the front-runners to star in the film version of "Chicago." (Even 20 years later they'd have been better than...oh, well.) This, sadly, is one of the last network "star" specials: cable and pay-TV were coming on strong and the networks soon could no longer afford A-listers.
