  • My extreme minimalist sustainable and almost zero waste bathroom essentials. In today's video, I want to show you all the products I use in my bathroom, plus all the other body care stuff I need and own. With minimalism and sustainability being important values of mine I try to reduce as much plastic and waste as possible and try to only have the products that actually add value to my life. Also having a buzzcut and not using makeup a lot of products are not necessary for my life, so I decluttered them a while ago.

    Several months ago I just realised that I don't love and don't wear every clothes at my closet and I just declutter them , now I have a few t-shirts and pants , I feel so free and less anxious, I don't have to worry about what I wear anymore and that is so new and good feeling to me ! 🍂💖

    I love your content! I've been minimalist (though its definitely been a process) since I was 16. I've recently been experimenting with cutting down to just two bar 'soaps' (one is shampoo) and it's made travelling so much easier! It's a crime you don't get more views but I suppose its better to have an audience that loves your work than just being 'trendy'!

      Thank you! I am glad you like my content! I enjoy traveling with very few products too, it saves so much space and if you fly it's possible without liquids ☺ I hope to be able to grow my audience bigger but you are absolutely right, slow and steady is healthier than one extremely viral video (those always bring the haters, at least every video that got more views than I am used to did that for me... But it of course also helps a channel grow☺)

    I had watch some VDO clips of Marie Kondo and other decluttering, it has absolutely changed my life. I had a big decluttering of all my personal stuff. My bedroom and bathroom look much better now. Still I have quite a lot in the bathroom comparing to you. 1 toothbrush, 1 toothpaste, dental floss, 1 mouth liquid, 1 shaver for eyebrow, 1 shaver for underarms, cotton buds, 1 soap for body, 1 soap to wash panty, 1 shampoo, 1 cream bath, 1 facial cleanser, 1 scratching stone, 1 bath cap, 1 bottle of wash liquid and 1 bottle of fabric softener (which I stopped using for months). My goodness! Despite of the big decluttering!

    I use organic honey as my "soap," because most soaps irritate my skin. When you apply honey to wet skin, it works just like soap, but cleanses and soothes at the same time. I use rhassoul clay mixed with water to wash my hair for the same reason: shampoos irritate my scalp. The rhassoul clay soothes my scalp and cleans my hair. After the clay wash, I rinse with dilute lemon juice, because it restores the natural acidity to my scalp and hair.

    I also cut my creams open and get a lot of product out of it. For aluminum tubes, like also for my oil paint and medicine tubes, I have a tube squeezer. But I understand that might isn't an option because of minimalism. But it's very sustainable 🙂

    Lia, I would like to say that you are my inspiration! I decided to downsize number of beauty and self care products a few months ago and I'm sooo happy when I made another bottle empty ☺
    My perfect beauty products collection contains: bar of soap, shampoo bar, deodrant, toothpaste, sensitive face cleanser and face cream.
    I rarely do make up because I think that I look better without it 😊
    Again, thank you for the inspiration!

    I always like to see how others live minimally and/or sustainably even if I do it differently :)
    And I find one sentence of yours very important, and nicely put: "not getting burned out over the things that we maybe cannot do". I totally agree with it although or because I may tend to like overrate my responsibility or ability regarding sustainability.

    You’ve made your life so simplistic through minimalism and I can’t help but envy your willpower and determination to keep it that way. I just started my journey toward minimalism this year; I have a long way to go to get to where you are. But, it’s getting easier as I continue. Thank you for your openness and suggestions. 💕

    Love the message at the end!
    I have very sensitive and problem-prone skin so I end up needing a moisturizer and a sunscreen, but I'm happy that I've been able to find the right products for me, which in the end have minimized my skincare significantly.

    I use an electric razor, that I charge with a solar panel to shave. I think it's a pretty good option for those with sensitive skin who break out with a regular razor. My first one lasted over 10 years.

    I think sunscreen is the most important thing. I'd give up any other skincare product but sunscreen. Even if you live in a city and are out and about during the day, sun is extremely damaging nowadays.
    I've tried the toothpaste tablets but they don't have fluorid so my teeth became really sensitive after a couple weeks and I switched back to a vegan, eco-friendlier toothpaste, after talking to the dentist about it. Same with the toothbrush: I use an electric one, I've had the same one for 6 years now. Bamboo toothbrushes make my gums bleed and they also get moldy really fast so they were a big miss for me. When I am traveling, I use a toothbrush made out of recycled plastic, they are long life.
    And I agree about the no poo method. I have thick, wavy hair, good luck keeping it healthy and moisturised with water only... No one will ever take conditioner and hair oil away from me.
    Btw I have 3 small boxes in my bedroom for stuff that other people keep in the bathroom. I just take them into the bathroom while getting ready in the morning. And I keep all my makeup on my desk in a small Ikea cabinet I painted rose gold. It actually looks really nice and my stuff isn't just laying around everywhere. I feel so much better, having products in small boxes instead on the shelves.

    Your videos help me to think whether i need so much of skincare products to keep my skin in healthy condition, in most of the times its just fine without any products. Its helps me to declutter unnecessary items and helps to.save money in the long run.

    Hi Lia🤗 beautiful video🤗 and you are adorable!😊🤗❤ I love your videos so so much! 🤗🤗🤗 I would like to share with you what I found for my zero waste bathroom, it's so simple, it's the sodium carbonate, it works so well for my hair, I just mix it with a little water before using it 😊 I can use it also for my whole body, face, or for deo - with wet fingers you can put it on for deo, you can mix it also with coffee for face scrub, or just without it ect. This is so simple and works so well. For my face I use extra virgin olive oil or castor oil. Almost I forgot, it works also for the teeth 😊

    I've tried no-poo, also using Rhassoul clay, various soaps such as Dr Bronner's, and homemade treatments, as well as commercial (and prescription) products, but nothing seems to really work for my hair/ scalp except switching between various sls-free products and not using anything consistently. Even with a buzz cut I still get a lot of hair/ scalp sensory issues and nothing really seems to agree with me!

    No poo also didn't work for me, I tried for 2 years. My hair broke very easily and it never got to producing less oil. So happy to use soapbars at this point because it was taking up so much time and I would worry constantly about my hair looking like it wasn't clean. I would love to know more about why it didn't work out tho, I feel like I tried everything (:

    • @lizb4156
      @lizb4156 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because oil and water don't mix, so water alone can't get rid of the grease on your hair.

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I feel like it totally makes sense that it doesn't work (like the other comment said, how are you supposed to get rid of fat with water) but on the other hand it works for so many people and you also try to get rid of fat manually so it should be possible...)

    • @Antistylestyleclub
      @Antistylestyleclub 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ecofriendlia I thought it was more about your hair adapting to not getting washed, so it would produce less oil/ get a more natural shine. But I feel there was a lot of research missing and all I could find were personal experiences. I would be so interested in learning why it works for some hair-(types) But I have to say it was a relieve to hear that you also struggled with it (:

      Thank you! I am glad you like them! I did live in Sweden but only for half a year in 2018/2019 over the winter. Now we are back in Germany (although I am swiss) but I miss Sweden a lot! All the beautiful forests, northern lights, ice skating on the lake, and well-functioning public transport, beautiful islands, so many delicious foods and so much more. And even though I understand Swedish pretty well I still want to learn to speak it and that would work best if I am in Sweden ☺
