Yeah I would also recommend just making a very simple border wall around the hillside just like how Japanese fortress cities did in the past, their walls were very fluid when it came to the terrain and you only find more linear walled cities on flat ground. Plus a simple, useful tip for ATM 10, weapons, tools and armour for colonists only care about their tier, but with Apotheosis now implemented, you can add apothic attributes like speed, armour, luck and mining speed to the armour without going past the tier-limit for each colonist's level.
During the Edo period, most of the streets in cities like Edo (modern Tokyo) were narrow, especially in residential areas. However, there were also wider, straighter roads that led to important locations, such as the castle or other key sites, which were often more prominent and easier to navigate. These main roads were often used for official purposes and were designed to connect the castle (or town center) with other significant areas of the city.
Bearing in mind how popular Japanese food was it would be cool if you did a few Feed the World style episodes where you focused on farming to make Japanese dishes if they're in the modpack. I know that for me the last Feed the World series didn't last nearly long enough!
The signs are so small, the messages end up cryptic, the idea is, if you have the build tool in hand you can see the preview of the HQ upgrade or alternatively use the builder's goggles to see that most of the hq is filled in with placeholders to protect any contents during upgrade.
@@MsSmontalvo Just wanted to let you know that it is in fact already on Curseforge, it's just part of the Byzantine style pack mod, not its own separate one! I was confused too before I realized ^-^
I found a pair of springy boots, they grant me no fall damage. Ideal for dropping down into the mine. The best place for redstone is redstone caves, far better source than general mining. These are in the over world and can be found with a compass.
A naginata is similar to a halberd: basically a polearm with a blade on the end. It's useful for fighting an opponent on a horse when on foot, and can also be useful to help a smaller opponent take on a larger opponent due to its range. A wakizashi is a short sword. It can be like a smaller katana, but not always. It's better for close-range combat, obviously, but can also be a backup weapon. If you think about Japanese art (or anime), a wakizashi is usually the smaller blade worn thrust through an obi (like a cloth belt), while a katana usually hangs by a cord. Obviously, Japanese weapons have been around a really long time and those terms can apply to different things depending on the era, but that's most likely what the mod author was drawing on. ❤
@@jswell1991 I agree, I only chose a halberd for the example because (in my experience, so this is obviously anecdotal) people tend to know what a halberd is more than they know what a glaive is. :)
He did say in episode 1 that it's ATM10, and he will be using tools and armor from there but for the most part sticking to minecolonies. If you want something that's not "the same ol thing" watch the create mod + steampunk colony that he just finished. He mixed a good amount of modded mc into the colony.
LOVE Minecolonies, but REALLY wish they didn't decide to lock the custom namelists and colonist skins behind a subscription paywall. Really hurts any kind of immersion, and makes the mod feel really stale after a few runs, when you're forced to use industrial-era Europeans all the time, even if you're trying to do a Nordic Viking village, a Japanese village, a Dwarven hold, Elvish jungle retreat, etc. They've got TONS of really great designs from all over the world, history, and fantasy, and the ability for other people to make their own style packs to share as well. But then force you to use the same old generic designs for the colonists. I'd even be perfectly fine if they chose to lock the Official skins and style packs behind the paywall, but then gave the option to make and share your own colonist skins, same as the building styles. So if you want to have the most up to date buildings that use the newest mechanics, and have the skins for each job right on release, then you pay the subscription. But if you're willing to wait for someone else to make a skin pack for the new jobs, then you can use that instead.
hello great job on your videos i'm one of your new subscribers from one of your older series i have a question about the maine colony sawmill how do you use it for some reason my worker isn't working or making anything
Your colonists are all dying because you ignored that one monster in the beginning that spawns in more monsters. Should've dealt with him immediately... 😟 I know it's just a silly game, but it still kinda makes me sad, lol.
Hi Sjin, been watching your stuff for a long time. I hope you keep this series going, I love the build style so far and your minecolonies series are the best I have ever seen. Thank you for always making wonderful videos to help me feel better at the end of my day.
If you don't automate the production of rice, dried kelp and sushi rolls, I'll be very disappointed. And sushi needs a conveyor belt system to display it properly.
Dear Sjin, You know your people don't have to die. You could have easily destroyed the druid and or sealed that hole up. You just left it and thus got your people killed. Maybe fill in the holes and try not to kill your people. I love how people are dying and you do absolutely nothing at all to help. Seriously do something instead of talking. Edit it out if you need to.
It's incredibly frustrating to watch. If nothing else it feels like he wants to stick to a script rather than just naturally play the game. String is not difficult to get, especially if multiple colonists are dying to a spider...
I guess a Creeper Teacher will say to his students: "Pay attention! I'm going to show you this once!" "Boom!" Would he be boned if one student says, "I don't quite get that!?" LOL!

what a cool concept, making the camp the player hut and adding in some guard and curier huts

There is a Sushi/Sashimi mod in ATM 9. I haven't confirmed if it's in ATM 10. It's pretty neat, similar in some ways to Roots and PotionMaster.
I'm not sure if Farmer's Delight is in this but FD has sushi rolls!
I think it would look great to have a big port for fishermen on one side of the colony, and a huge field of crops like rice on the opposite side

beautiful supply camp you made on this pack.
I can't wait to play with this, it's beautiful!!! But I only mod my game through curseforge. Any idea how long it'll be before it can go up on there?

The reason why is probably the necromancer that you saw earlier in the video
Yeah when I saw him just walk away I immediately knew it was gonna murderise the whole colony...
Make a Mega Torch/Feral Flare! Just an easy and cheap way to keep your citizens safe
@Sjin
Instead of stair blocks, try to use half blocks/slabs to make more gradual elevation changes.

The western equivalent to a naginata would be the glaive

Tetsubo means iron club. It was the armor piercing weapon of Medieval Japan in the same way that hammers were used to crack open knights in plate.
that hq is a gorgeous building.
a fun new adventure for you i will watch with bated breath.
The Oni keep snatching the villagers
Best intro of a video Ive ever heard 😂
I love watching your videos plz keep up the amazing work I really hope samurai swords are in this have a good day and good year.
They are, both the Katana, Wakizashi, and the Naginata (all classic samurai weapons) are in the game. He even mentions them in the video.
Make sure you add Epic samurai’s and better combat so you can look and feel the part of a samurai!
11:29 You should look up some of those weapons.
honestly just build a mega torch to stop the constant deaths :D
Maybe once don't rely on the Easy Villagers iron farm?
you need a megatorch or two as well.
You should fill those holes in before you go any further
I am going to Japan for my next trip I can’t wait to go😀.
Today I learned Druid summon skeletons
Hi Sjin. Could you slow down a bit and show a little more of your work? Or is there a member only extended video?
Yeah, those colonists fall into all the holes….
Note thier is a building that are carts for couries
You should try and add a nice balance of nature all around
I think your title is off? Under the views and date it says "Welcome to Episode One of Minecraft Minecolonies - Byzantine" ??
Hope this one is completely different than the last minecolonies and what not so it doesn't feel like the same ol thing.

I just ordered sushi from Japan
hello great job on your videos i'm one of your new subscribers from one of your older series i have a question about the maine colony sawmill how do you use it for some reason my worker isn't working or making anything
You have to teach the sawmill the recipes you want it to make.

Why do I only seem to survive in one of Sjin's Colonies?
I wanna see an npc named after you sjin
Tried the Samurai Dynasty armor on the guards. It crashes the game.

I will shout now... MAKE A MOB TORCH PLEASE....
