This episode is a quick and easy $5 DIY Front Porch Welcome Sign. We see these wooden Welcome signs on all of our neighbors porch and entryways, so we decided to join them.
We picked up some fence pickets at Lowe's, picked up some chalk paint, and cut a paper stencil out on the Cricut.

That is very beautiful, I was getting ready to go back to home depot to get more mulch and ant spray, and I really want to try and do my own welcome porch sign, so I said let me go on TH-cam first to see first if it's easy to do, and I found your channel and you all made it look so easy. +Jose Hernandez Yes! After the fix of the C, we noticed the E's are upside down and the W is backward! I dropped the stencils and never noticed how out of whack they were. Lesson learned. It's kind of funny now.

Thank you for the laugh, I have been making my own as well and ran onto the same problems. I messed those details up too, drove me crazy but it is those things that folk art is popular for and still stand out as it looks great.

I got my wood from actual real Texas reclaimed barn wood for free, sanded it and white washed it , did the letters and added some greenery and hand sanded the edges to make it look more rustic , also gold or silver metallic paints outlined in black, aka permant Sharpe black do well too, I polyurethaned the entire things to seal it all in , do not press down hard when adding the poly on top bc it will bleed a tiny bit, I used a sponge like you use for staining wood. You can use any oil based or latex paints AS LONG AS THEY CONTAIN A PRIMER IN THEM AS WELL OTHER WISE YOU CAN'T PAINT THEM ON TOP OF ONE ANOTHER, IMPORTANT.... PEOPLE WILL TELL YOU. YOU CAN'T BUT I PROMISE YOU CAN , JUST AS LONG AS THE SURFACE HAS DRIED FULLY AND THE PAINT OIL OR LATEX HAS PRIMER IN IT. NOT MANY OIL BASED PAINTS HAVE THAT UNLESD IT'S SPRAY PAINT . GOOD LUCK. PS. HERE'S A TIP YOU CAN PRIME ANYTHING USING MODGE PODGE FLAT AND FOR SMALLER DETAILS PULL OUT YOUR FINE TIPED PERMANT MARKERS, NEVER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

We used the mod podge to create a little dam so the paint won't bleed.

How did you make the stencil?
We used a Cricut Maker. It's a cutting machine, it's great for making stencils along with a million other great projects! A must have!
