Hi Beth. I'm Gary. I live in the Philippines (originally from Pennsylvania) and was there in Alaska this summer during June and July visiting my 4 kids which have all moved to Anchorage now. I spent the majority of my stay working on my Daughters house and maintaining the kids vehicles but was able to spend some time close to the end of my stay traveling around to see different places. On Friday, July 19th I drove north to see the area and the weather was fantastic. I enjoyed a beautiful view of Denali from the south viewing area and then headed to Talkeetna to explore the town for the afternoon. What a great place! Really! I could hear music playing up the street so I decided to go and check it out. As I was watching this video, I had a suspicion that was the day I was there. I recorded the one of the songs on my phone as it was being played "Lean On Me". I went back to my files and watched the video and it was you, your brothers and the rest of the band. How about that! Ever since I returned to my home here in the Philippines I can't stop thinking about that day, that town and the people I met that day. It was one of my most fond memories of the entire 6 week trip!!! When I get my house sold here and move to Alaska, I will definitely return to Talkeetna. I hope someday our paths cross! Love the videos from the cabin and the great wildlife you capture! Take care.
Wow how cool and what a coincidence that you happened to be in Talkeetna that day and then to see it on my video! Thank you for the kind words and yes, maybe we'll meet up there sometime!
Glad John is ok. I've cut a lot of winter's worth of wood in this lifetime and knock on wood no serious accidents. But good golly I've had some close calls that always renew my respect for the destructive power of a chainsaw and falling trees. I've had a couple friends that have broken their backs years ago and we always called the brace a turtle shell.
Ive heard of a "poo poo platter" but thats the first ive heard of a "poo poo paddle" lmao! Alaskan here myself..love Talkeetna and its acclectic mix of tourists, Alaskan Sourdoughs and hipster granolas... i live in Wasilla.
July? Are you that far behind in editing? 🤭I’ve seen a few you tubers now from Alaska, a few times I’ve seen the bridge you cross and the train tracks and a few mention Talkeetna, it always makes me smile that I “know” the area because of your videos
Haha yes I'm that behind! Actually it would be impossible to do this as a real time vlog; takes too long to edit all this footage plus i can't upload up there. I figure I'm just telling my story and it will take the time it takes! Plus going slow makes the season of the show last into the winter. :)

Yes you can never take forget that wood cutting is a dangerous activity!
Such a perfect setting. Hope the dock holds this time....
We'll properly fix the dock next summer so hopefully it will hold up as is through one more winter!
