This is a really excellent review, Josh. I've been to UrbnSurf dozens of times and seen heaps of videos/reviews, but you have absolutely nailed it with this one. All the info you've provided, particularly regarding the rip and getting sucked towards the wave generator, is super important for people to know and this is the only video I've seen that goes into detail about those things. I know you made this video a while back, so I hope you've managed to get back for a few sessions since then. Anyway, I just wanted to say 'props' for a great review, mate. Yewwww!

Wow James, thanks so much mate! One of the best comments ever! I was blown away by how strong the rips are and hadn’t seen anyone mention it on other videos.
Unfortunately I haven’t been back but definitely want to, might do it soon actually. It’s so much fun. I want to try and get much deeper in the barrel.
Thanks again James, I really appreciate your support and kind words 🤙🏻🤙🏻

@@joshtraceysurfing Thanks for the reply, Josh. Appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I've actually spent a bit of time, since watching your UrbnSurf review, going through some of your other content and it's all awesome!! I can't believe how recently you took up surfing and how quickly you've progressed! Honestly, you're surfing like you've been doing it for years!
I've told my groms about your channel, too, so I'm sure they'll spread the word.
Keep up the good work, mate. And keep frothing! You're a bloody natural! Both at surfing and entertaining.
And good luck with your next trip down to the pool. Hopefully you get there before Winter hits! Hate to say it, but the water over summer was beautiful. 👌

Ah that’s really cool! Don’t go back too far hahah my early videos make me cringe but they’re also a good reminder of how much I’ve improved.
That’s so cool I hope they enjoy my vids, once this weather clears up here I be out recording more sessions.
Haha I hope to get there before May, I don’t want to be that cold ever again! I think I’ll see if my dad wants to come down.

No worries, I was there last night! A couple more tips... don't ride a twin or 2+1 use a thruster as you need more drive in your bottom turns as it can be a little boggy. If you have a pockety type board with a bit of volume, ride it. Good luck, it's super fun and I think personally that it is better than Melbourne!

Just a few points - re hire wetsuits - I hired one of their 4/5 wetsuits thinking it would keep me warmer but it was so stretched and full of holes it was not worth it - in my next session I ended wearing my normal 3/2 with a vest underneath and that was better than the hire suit.
Most important thing is - if you wipe out - DO NOT try to paddle across to the line up ! - let the waves wash you towards the beach and then paddle back out with the current - that way your letting the wave energy push you in and around and suck you back out instead of fighting it - (other wise it’s like paddling agains a rip) you will get just as many waves and won’t wear yourself out - plus your less likely to be in the next surfers way or get run over.
Also I think the break between sets is to give the water in the pool a chance to settle - the last few wave in each set get a bit wonky & I think it’s because of the water bouncing off the walls etc. so they give it a chance to settle in between sets
nice vid with good info - I realised I was one of the guys in your session - yes it was cold I had the boots and gloves on - they are something you have to get used to and they have to fit just right - not something I would hire

@@joshtraceysurfing intermediate. I think after 4 or 5 sessions you might get the real hang of it but I found it hard and little confusing in the line up. I suppose the element of being free in the water with no judgement or time frames is also not present. You feel a little rushed when you only have an hour. I think it would run better if you dropped in from the side of the pool with a guard allowing one person in at a time. This way you could walk out to the break and get a maximum ride. Like a cue for a water slide. Just a few of my observations. Keep up the good work bro.
