What an absolutely kick butt teacher this man is!!!! He’s a marvel!!!! Amazing how he integrates the students into the discussion and draws out their contributions!!!!
Progressivism sounds amazing. It's in practice where it's fatal flaw reveals itself: it's inability to rectify the constancy of man. If man's nature doesn't change, if he's an imperfect creature, then there will always be some flaws in any human society. The best any society can hope for is to know what evils are to be tolerated, and trade upward best it can in order to foster excellence.
Thank you Hillsdale College for inviting us to sit in on these discussions on the Constitution. I am very concerned as I watch our government morph away from the Constitution and work to take power to themselves.
Thank you Hillsdale. I am now going into medical school with hopes of entering politics after I finish my schooling. I will forever take what I have learned from the scholars in your videos with me into my future. You guys have truly made an impact on me.
If you merely intend to pass through medical school before entering politics, you are wasting your time, your money and your health. And you will be taking a place of someone who is dedicated to his profession. You may become a great politician, but you won’t be much of a physician.
Thanks for this exercise in critical thinking. More, more of these thought provoking series. How better to combat the product of these fractious times than a great session of smart discussion. So important.
Hillsdale College deserves a "pat on the back"! Taking the time to make these videos and to put them on TH-cam for free really shows precedence and sets your University apart from the rest. Thank you!
This was a GREAT series. I am going to collect them and send them to my grandchildren. And my children as well. I'm a history buff but I learned a whole bunch of stuff of which I wasn't previously aware. Thank you for your efforts. Timeless.

The mistake with the assertion about science in this video is that science is determinate. Despite appearances, science, in fact, is always uncertain. It is also a method for dealing with uncertainty. And that’s the beauty and freedom of science.
Thank you so much for your service. I watched all twelve lessons in one sitting and in the time I spent watching nothing else but GOD, Country and our beloved Constitution. Thank you.
Love the picture in the background, table set-up, group dynamics and insightful ness into better understanding this topic, “The Constitution” and how we relate and it relates with us and the outcomes of an incredible nation we have here in the U.S of A.
Thank you so much for making this available. I am a senior of 72 years, and regrettably I am ashamed that my least favorite subject in school was history. Looking back and living in these times I see how important it is for our young people be given the opportunity to be educated in an unbiased and unedited school system. I never saw this terrible transition coming. Now as I look back, I can see the major changes in our political, educational and environmental systems with major concern. Human rights, equality and freedom of speech are being restructured in a way I never thought possible. What does one do to try to make things right?
I am a 58 year old man who has only graduated through 11th grade. I have a thirst for knowledge, and I can't get enough of what your college is teaching. Thank you for making it possible for me to access it.
This was a fabulous course. Thank you for opening it up to the public. I truly have learned so much. God bless you and please let me know how I can contribute to this endeavor to educate Americans.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I have had some free time and decided to expand my spiritual horizon by taking an online course. I saw your site and decided to advance my knowledge on the Bible.
Interesting discussion. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Hope this is something that can continue. I do believe truth, right and wrong do not change with the times. As was said, if it was true then, it is true now. False then, false now. What seems to actually change is not truth, but perceptions, opinions and personal whims. If we are led by any of those three things and develop our concepts of truth and government from them we are going to have some very Shakey foundations indeed.
Why is it inherent that what is the most right not lie in the future? Assuming there is a static moral system that is objectively true, there is no reason to believe we have access to it in the past

Sandra R. Focseneau that isn’t necessarily true though. The stories of the tyrannical mother are very interesting if you have a chance to listen to Dr. Jordan Peterson describe them. Women are also much more likely to shame other women into conformity. Women seek control as well they simply use other methods.

From Calvin Coolidge's speech, given on the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.
