Hello guys! I have lost one plum tree and one apricot tree to willow borers. My trees looked like your apple tree. When I cut the trees I found the willow borer larvea in the roots and the tree trunk 😞 If that's the case its time for a campfire. Burn the wood! Dont throw anything in your compost bin ! Good Luck! Seeing your corn field reminded me of a funny thing that happened to me.
We live in a small village in Western New York state, there are tons of corn fields around here, anyway I worked the 11 PM to 730 AM shift in a town 20 miles away.
My daughter had been watching Children of the corn right before I left, so I was spooked by it, on my drive there were corn fields planted close to the road on both sides , it was really dark, no moon because it was rainy and a bit of fog. I just kept looking forward not daring to look at the corn when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, something was moving fast.
I about had a heart attack when a herd of deer ran right in front of me.
After they passed I floored it until I got to a store parking lot.
After I calmed down I drove on to work. 😂😅

Just keep giving to your neighbors and friends and you will still have more than you can eat And preserve for you and yours. Our God is faithful. I wish I lived near you I would purchase tomatoes from you and pay you for your labors. Then we would both be blessed. Thanks for sharing.

I also linked the sides with poles across long ways, going down to the top of my cages! I was thinking after my tomatoes finish, I maybe able to turn it into a frame for green house😂 glad my husband didn’t listen, when I asked for bamboo about the size of a cane 🦯 fishing pole 🎣 😂❤ God is good! y’all have a blessed one.. off to pickle jalapeños ❤❤

Hey Andy. Man you have a good stand of iron clay peas there. They will put a good bit of nitrogen in your soil. I wouldn’t use up all that free nitrogen by following it with turnips. I’d come right behind it with crimson clover and let that overwinter. The clover will add even more nitrogen. Come next spring you’ll have A LOT of available nitrogen for whatever crop you choose to follow it with. Just a suggestion my friend.

@@TrueGritAppalachianWays anything that over winters in the ground will be twice as bad the next year. Last year's polar blast killed off some pest that over winter in the south so even though I lost quite a few plants I'm very thankful for it. The vine borers decimate my winter squash vines every year, I prayed to the Lord Jesus Christ to keep them out of my vines this year so He sent weather to freeze the pupae that lives in the soil and hatches out in late spring and early summer, the freezing weather killed the majority of them and I've not lost one vine this year.

I wish y'all were my neighbors, I'd be asking if you want to sell a couple bushels or more of those beautiful tomatoes. It's so hot and humid here in southeast Alabama that the tomatoes die from disease by mid July. Those spoon tomatoes are the same thing as the Florida glades tomatoes, they are tiny with a giant taste and once you grow them they will come back every year if you had one tiny tomato fall to the ground.

@@TrueGritAppalachianWays 👍Figured that might be why the one end did better than the other. My buddy's mother wondered why their well water was high in nitrates. He didn't want to tell her it was because of the dairy cows.

Garden looks great. We found a paste tomato that we will now grow every year, large, very meaty. Its from Hoss seeds in Georgia. Its called Tachi. I can't tell you how many large paste tomatoes I have gotten off 3 plants. No much juice at all. We have done San Marzano and Romas in at, neither get very big or us. I highly recommend you try a pack of these Tachi's. Happy gardening.

I make comfrey salve occasionally but we mainly use it as ground cover and natural nutrients around our trees

Love your gardens...I removed our zucchini, corn and cucs also, started carrots, beets, kale, snow peas and collards...do you prep for a fall garden?
I need good tomatoes for salsa 😂 I learned that my heirlooms make very watery Salsa 😢 I ordered the Mtn tomatoes and hoping next year it will be better, I may need to order some San Marzenos also.
I've lost a few trees to the dang zoles...done chatting for now 😂

Yes we do a fall garden! We are actually running a tad behind but we like to plant cabbage, carrots, salet, garlic and collards in the fall ☺️
