Next time test both but with original Maker in Fast Mode. The speed is pretty much the same. Fast Mode is available for many commonly used materials like vinyl, cardstock, glitter cardstock etc. One of advantages of original Maker is that in standard mode it cuts slower, which is beneficial with intricate cuts. With Maker 3 there is no way to control speed.

What are smart materials?
Materials that are only available for that machine ?
Smart materials you can cut without using a mat. You can use them with the Explore 3, Maker 3, Joy Xtra. You can still use them with the other machines but you would have to use a mat with them.
The Maker 3 cuts more materials than the Maker, right?
The only difference is smart materials.
Can it print and cut on A4 size paper?

Sure. A4 is the standard where I live and I use it all the time.
