- Over the objections of advocates for those experiencing homelessness, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled cities can enforce no-camping laws and take down tent encampments, even if there is no offer of alternative shelter or housing. In Pittsburgh, the tents will stay. KDKA-TV's Andy Sheehan has more.
What's wrong with making them pick up the garbage off city steets? Put them on a work detail in exchange for their "free rent" on City property. We never voted for this.
SMH. and it's "their"
@@tommas2674 Dude, they can afford to give billions to foreign nations, give migrants debit cards and put them in hotels etc...
Shame there is nothing left for Americans except a tent out in the street....
But you probably did lol
@@CrabFiles foreign nations migrants = same.
Roughly 30,000 homeless being added over the border every day, America Brace For Impact.
I hate working in Pittsburgh. Panhandlers approach you when you drive or walk anywhere around the city. And they are getting more aggressive.
When did they appear?
What a ridiculous story. No matter what space they put the homeless, there will be someone to complain about it, just like what that guy is doing. That's exactly why there isn't a homeless shelter for them. If there was, residents would complain about it. You can't make everyone happy. There will always be a homeless population.
What a dump.
Pittsburgh is the east coast Portland 😂😂😂
rent is out of control. they city has no cheap rooms anymore. and even if they did you would need proof of income and have a 650+ credit score. 🍻
Good. You know why? Because PA favors tenants over landlords. So landlords MUST screen tenants!
Cheap rent is illegal in Pittsburgh, banned back in 2008.
Any 'violation' (chipped paint, missing hand rail, etc) is $500 a day PER violation.
So low rent housing facing $1,000 ~ $5000 per day fines shut that down that year.
Pittsburgh don't want cheap renters. Only owners & Corporations.
Good for them at least they are trying to help the homeless people.
not really, i found a place here and only had to put 1500 down. My credit score is like a 630 not the best but is getting better.
Pittsburgh is a crappy city
IT WASN'T.
My cousin worked as a security guard at a Catholic Charities homeless resource center in Midtown Baltimore for 12 years and most of the ones that would line up outside the main entrance Monday-Friday waiting for the doors to open were NOT drug addicts. They would all take drug tests before receiving services. My cousin had to quit because homeless people were coming in unvaccinated and testing positive for COVID-19. His wife was undergoing chemo treatments for ovarian cancer at the time and he didn't want to bring COVID-19 home to her. Clearing them out is not the answer and you can't arrest your way out of this crisis. Here in Baltimore, the city under orders from the mayor, purchased 2 hotels to house homeless people in to help them get access to services. Also, here in Baltimore, when you call 311 or go online to report a homeless camp, police show up at the camp with case workers from DSS to start the process of getting them help. The Supreme Court has been corrupted by Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow.
The Wall has been empty for years. Remove the locks and keep them there. Police could watch the entrances and respond to criminal activity and protect the safety of those there.
I love Pittsburgh. I used to live there 14 teen years ago. Live in new Jersey now, but i miss Pittsburgh very much.❤
did the opposite from NJ and moved here. NJ was just out of control
@williamward3879 I get paid 3 times more in new jersey than I did in Pennsylvania. But I miss beautiful Pennsylvania. Traffic here sucks major.
@@theomartin7339 I still make NJ money luckily etc but i understand way more money there
Today poor is a crime lets let the Supreme Court justices sleep in tents
What, no abandoned air bases near by? Perfect place.
Molotov cocktails?
where did God go. permanent vacation?
Stop stating it wrong ""DRUG ENCAMPMENTS FOR THE HOMELESS AND THIEVES"" PROVE DIFFERENT watch the vids on TH-cam they themselves admit this.
I'm sorry you ate lead paint chips as a child.
These encampments represent a failure of our public services for helping people stay afloat.
Sophie says raccoon state park is open……..deadheads unite
Yes they will. Give it time.
They’re encamped 10 feet from jail. Put em there
Wait till winter. They’ll move.
It's behind the jail. There are beautiful parks this family can jog in. PPL like that are A-holes

Yea, City of Pittsburgh, yunz doing good.
their running from their pride and glory
Lee Schmidt and democrats who don't want to enforce and protect tax payers should home the homeless in their mansions. but, if voters vote to keep these people in charge then that's on pittburgh
.
Some cities have a higher percentage of homeless than others. In some cities it's a much bigger problem than in others. Now days, almost every city has some number of homeless people. Of all the myriad of problems housing or helping the homeless there is one constant, and that is the number of homeless people out there is growing year after year.
Turning a blind eye to the plight of the homeless or cutting them off from living on a sidewalk only exacerbates an already complex problem and between the quality of life issues affecting everybody concerned to the right that a human being has not to be persecuted for being poor and homeless, the probability that any of this will improve in your lifetime is zilch because the propensity to just deprive them of a place to sleep and run them off only moves the problem to the other side of the street, town or another state.
For a lot of people working, all their paycheck goes just to pay rent and some have two jobs just to pay rent.
For whatever reasons, many of the homeless are unemployable. How is this going to be resolved?
great movies pride and glory and the ice man happy independence
They don't Apply this same pressure on all the illegal immigrants that came into out backyards but yet...They set rules for the local homeless an enforce it...Smh
the scopions
There hasn't been a Republican Mayor in 80 year downtown pgh needs a change of the Democrat controlled guard Pittsburgh need a chance to make Pittsburgh Great Again.
There's no homeless ! And crimes down .
So all of those tents are what? Just a figment of my imagination?
@@laura121684 it's the demon crats lies.
@@tommas2674 Why would they lie about it? It's democrat city officials who decided that, despite the Supreme Court's ruling, they _won't_ remove the enampments. Lying about the encampment's existence doesn't benefit them in any way in this situation. Your theory makes no sense.
jobs everywhere, no inflation, kids do good in schools... no more drugs... vAXE is safe !
All the people who think these encampments should be torn down are more than welcome to be good Christians; open their doors and give them a place to stay. Thank you Pittsburgh for being humane.
No one should take them in unless it’s the public officials who created this problem. Back in the day we never had this issue because people were put into rehab or mental institutions. Problem solved
No, you open your liberal door
Compassion kills
Giving the homeless houses is actually cheaper than maintaining camps. Housing is a human right.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
actually it's not
Leave them be they are already at rock bottom..send a social worker in there offering help and alternatives..
They tried that in Seattle they stabbed and killed them ! Why does Marthas Vinyard have no homeless they sent them packing. These people are all close to going to the FEMA CAMPS way before us. clueless.
there are NOT enough beds FOR YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS GROWING IN HOME LESS NESS. oh Fellow Americans.
They are often dangerous to the community.
@@jeanettesmith765 You got some proof to back up that claim?
