I camped thru 8 weeks of rain during a 4.5 month stay in Alaska last summer...I learned a very valuable lesson. I bought a small generator, 26 lbs, 1500 inverter, 1000 watt. I love it. Only used it once so far but what a savior. It's small enough it fit in a 27 quart plastic storage bin with its 2 gallon gas can. No one can see it and it's on the outside carrier. So many times people make me mad with their generators so I try to be very conscious of those around me.
Great backup idea! Nice not to have to mess with gasoline. It’s still cold, wet, and windy throughout Utah! Stay in Southern Arizona until April at least. It’s been a rough Winter. 🤪
Hi Rick + Linda, what a cool little generator. I like the idea of not having to carry gas while traveling. Small, light weight and no gasoline = a perfect option for solar battery charging in a pinch🤠.
A nice little generator- I've had mine about 18 months and only had to use it a couple times. I like that it doesn't have gasoline inside that can go bad and clog up the system. I keep it on the shelf and it stays fresh and ready to go. It does run my 8000-btu window AC unit just fine, but not on ECO mode.
There is no way a 1000 watt generator, rated at 700 watt continues, will power a 8000 btu electric motor type air conditioner under a load. The air conditioner electric motor will be around 800 watts. You need a generator max load rating about three times that of the air conditioner load motor rating to get the motor to start moving with out popping the circuit breaker.
@@bobmirror7164 Yes Bob, You can get an 8000 BTU AC that runs on less than 600 watts- I just made this video to show you how it works- The LG AC has a 'soft start', so no power surge on start up. This does run on my Alp 1000- Thank you Volete-AKS Les Moore - th-cam.com/video/txMsmSsKH50/w-d-xo.html
I bought my ALP last Fall and only have tested it charging my Delta 2 EcoFlow solar generator. Worked fine. At 73, weight was a factor for me as was the need to take the ALP inside my SUV minimizing any fuel odor. Also, the propane burns cleaner and has less of a carbon footprint than gasoline for the same energy output. I have two Delta 2s so in a grid failure, I can run one, transfer to the second and within 2-3 hours charge the first. I can also easily take a Delta 2 camping or outside to power tools. I actually had a transfer switch set up to power the fridge, sump pumps, router/modem, and a few basement outlets. Camping teaches one basic survival skills.
I just bought two of the ALP's 1000 and love them. So easy to use, quiet and propane last decades. 60 hours of run time on a 20 lb tank. I can use these in parallel.
Thanks for the look at this nice gen set. I purchased one of these last fall, with plans to use it just like you described. I have been collecting items to build out a trailer like you have done. I have collected the parts for a dedicated solar power system for the trailer, with 5KWH of battery. I was concerned about the "rain days", and that was my reasoning for getting the generator last fall. Also it will be very useful for running/charging small power tools when away from the grid. I have had a lot of the parts gathered up, but no trailer. Today is a big day, because I am going to probably pick up my new trailer from the dealer if all goes well today!. Soon it will be time to let the building begin! Thanks for all the great ideas, I will be using a lot of them in my build.
Congratulations, Arnold on your new trailer! Have fun with the build. Linda said we need to do a remodel, so keep in mind that it's never going to be "done".
I've been thinking of buying a small generator for the solar system but never considered an all propane gen set in fact didn't know they existed I also never considered the gas tanks adding weight and always having a gas smell or small amount of gas left in the tank. Obviously I was still thinkinn in the box and not outside of it!! What a great little tool for those days when you have no sun and just need to juice the batteries up a little. I'll be keeping this on my "Wish List" for sure! Thanks Rick for another great review.
Have owned this generator for close to 3 years ... Ian in Florida and used it many times due to hurricanes and power shortages on construction sites ... never let me down .. but mention do not run indoors .. still produces toxic fumes ... 👍
I’ve had this generator for over two years now. Very seldom used it but it’s great for when you need it. Never no issues at all. For the price and size was perfect too. Note they were supposed to have came out with a larger one also a remote start one too. But I guess they never did. But still a great little gen👍
I got word in mid April 2023 from ALP that they are still working on their higher watt generator. They got 1850 running watts to work but surge was having issues.
That is exactly what I am looking at for myself. Can't quite pull the trigger because of the price, but it fits the need perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Good video Rick, Looks like a great little generator to fill your needs. When Jo-Ann and I spent the winter in Quartzsite, Arizona we had times when we didn't get enough sunshine for a few days for our solar to charge our batteries. We were thankful to have our generator to charge our house batteries. JT
Congrats on passing 50k subscribers. I like the idea of a propane only generator. They’re so much cleaner than gas ones as well so you won’t have all the carburetor issues
Yes, no gasoline waxing up in the carb over the winter. I always try to remember to use a fuel additive in all of my equipment before storing it away, but I've been know to forget once in awhile and that requires a carburetor tear down and clean-out.
@@gonagain But modern gas genny's, even cheapos, have a run dry feature and fuel drain on the carb for long term storage. I have a honda and 2 china cheapos, they all have those features. Never an issue in the spring. Simple maintenance. And because I don't keep my genny or fuel in the trailer, I never ever smell gas. l
@@astrobob9432 What issues are you speaking of with a propane gen @ high altitudes.? I live @ 6,500 (for 20 yrs ) but never had a gen here. I did order a LG dual fuel (gas / propane) but in reading the manual I knew I did not want gas - I do not want to do carb/kit change here & again if I go to desert in winter. With propane not necessary. Took it back to TSC. Also learned I would not be able to use it without winch set-up in my truck. @ 70+ & Solo not really feasible 😊 So I'm hoping with a more manageable weight this Alp will be a good fit. AND if it proves to have less power up here I'm thinking lights / charging abilities will be sufficient for my use.
Hello David! I'm seeing a couple of comments here from people who have owned one of these for several years and they say they're great. That's good to hear.
You made a good point many overlook. Even though it's small, it is also most fuel efficient for charging batteries. I can still get high power through my inverter without running an oversize generator.
Rick and Linda, I started building my 5X10 CTC two years ago and have watched every episode of your channel since. It is fully operational and I love it. I have avoided a number of mistakes learning from your info. Also I have made a number of updates to my CTC and made some purchases based on your reviews. I like that you have a good number of equipment reviews along with travel episodes you and Linda share. I feel better prepared for things that pop up with your experiences. Two years ago did go with a Champion Duel Fuel 2500 unit and have only run propane in it. I like the extra power in mine but the ALP would have been my first choice two years ago had I researched more ... or had your video to see first. Thanks for what you and Linda do!
Thank you so much for watching our videos! We appreciate hearing that they've helped someone in their build and that the reviews are also important. See you on the next one!
@piratelongfellow9459 Ahh, you are forgetting something. That 2500 puts out more power at lower RPMs than the 1000 does. Therefore, it may not run as fast or as loud as the 1000. It is also likely to use less fuel running slower and not burn itself out so quickly. You wont have to run 2 in parallel and you can run an ac unit if you need to do so. If you can get all the power you need at idle or near idle, then you will have less noise and maybe be able to sleep also.
Thank you for this info. Exactly what I to needed. Hope you are all good. 5 degrees right now in Steamboat. Single digits for the next couple of nights. I miss Az!
Nice review! I put together components for home emergency preparedness…two Delta 2s, backup DIY extra battery 12v 100 ah (LiFePO4), six circuit transfer switch and an ALP to charge one Delta while the other is working. All mobile components are under 30 lbs and can take them camping! I tested the ALP to charge my Delta 2s (can select the charge wattage to ensure to ALP overload) and it did just fine. I like it because it is small, lightweight and it doesn’t stink of gas. I keep it in a closet inside at home, so works great for me.
I have a champion 2500 watt dual fuel ⛽️ pure sine wave for backup and so far so good. But remember they need regular maintenance. I mounted mine on the front of my trailer frame so no gas inside. Good luck, Mike
Yes, but the maintenance isn't bad if you remember to use some fuel additive before letting them sit for awhile. I've had a 3500w Champion for years and it's great! Too big for me to take along though.
Yeah, for you that seems like the right generator. They make a rack that will fit front of your trailer. I have one installed. The cover on your propane bottles you might not be able to get it off. But you could make arms longer easy enough, I think. This is how I haul my gas. I don't use 20# tank except for filling the 1# bottles. Glad you mentioned cloudy days. even AZ has those it seems.
Nice! I bought a 3 fuel type last year for 800, traded it to our concrete contractor for 1000 worth in work, so not too bad. Yours should run for ever on just propane, air filters and oil changes. Old 58 international ran just propane over 280k miles, simple maintenance only. Motor is still good, truck rusted apart.
Thanks. Cool little genny. You could run a 100’ extension cord and loosely surround the generator with aluminum coated foam board for further sound deadening
Nice little generator Rick, keep us posted on how it works for you in a couple of weeks, also how is the composting toilet working out, I am interested in purchasing one.
A couple of folks have commented that they have had this generator for a few years and that they work great. That's good to hear. We got to use the OGO toilet for a month and we like it. It's less trouble than our old bucket system and takes up a lot less space. With two of us in the trailer at night, it can be used with considerably less odor than a bucket because of it's vent fan and also because you can hit the auger button to essentially flush the toilet, cutting down on the smell. If it were just one person then it might not be as important, but with two of us this really made a big difference!
@@gonagain Will shared info on their Ogo toilet while we walked th thru their self built unit & I am empress so we're switching from our Nature head compost toilet to the Ogo, seems so much easier to clean out compared to Nature head. Thanks for sharing.
Nice little generator. Propane is nice for no running fumes also. I picked up a 23 pounder (gas) 1000 watt also and it is plenty for my needs. On eco mode it will run a 5000 btu ac. although it likes to have full power for initial startup. Almost never use ac but nice to know it will do it.
My 1000 watt gasoline 4 stroke generator is just about exactly the same size... holds 1.1 gal of gas and weighs next to nothing. gasoline is 6 lbs per gallon... The specs are identical to yours wattage wise. It is all I have needed to back up my solar system and is super reliable. The fuel tank lasts an average of 8 hours and has gone 10 under light load but of course would be less with a heavy constant load. I run an 8 amp "smart" battery charger and desulphator and various other small loads... laptop, 43" LCD TV etc and the generator is not even close to being maxxed out. If I could have found a propane only or dual fuel when I originally bought mine I would have opted to add Propane. In 2016 dollars I paid under $250. Best generator investment I have ever made. I also have a 3300 watt inverter generator and I haven't used it for almost 4 years. I started out buying/trying/using the Harbor Freight 2 stroke 1000 watt generators but they only last a year under frequent use if you're lucky ... I have the carcasses of about 5 of them and several were returned under warranty... I did not like the mixing of fuel, fouled spark plugs etc. The little Frontier 1000 watt 4 stroke gen is just about perfect for me. Pretty sure I can convert it to dual fuel/Propane easily also for not much money. That is a nice little gen you have. Hopefully it lasts a long time!
Good information there, Steve. I did my research from our camp there in the desert and then had it shipped General Delivery to the nearest PO. The first one that was sent, UPS didn't seem to know what General Delivery was and sent it back to ALP. ALP shipped it again with FedEx and it arrived normally. It was hard waiting for it because we were so excited to get it! We kept getting rainy days...
Cool, Super Cool. Gotta get one of these. Good Review Rick, Ya did it Again. The 'Equipment Expansion Dilemma' is Alive & Well but That's ok with me. Especially when it comes to a Much needed item or Clever Gizmo like this, that will Actually get used. Thanks Rick. You are Rapidly Becoming the 'Energy Man' solving a Myriad of Power-Issues for us Off Road Folks. Nice. 👊 Hi Linda 👋
Hello Vinny! I am able to leave one very large power station home after buying this generator, so no space was lost or gained by getting this. A little peace of mind was gained though. Too bad it won't run your AC! By the way, I hope the day comes when you don't need AC because you are more free to drive to a cooler location. Summers up north and winters with us in Arizona!
I like the little unit. But as a Prepper its nice to always have a backup, Propane/Gasoline generator, even if you never use the Gas part of the Generator.
I like the propane part...I'm adding lithium batteries to my trailer... I'll put them inside so I can add a 2nd propane bottle to the tongue. Thanks Rick
You probably know this, but don’t directly charge lithium batteries with the ALP dc power. Use a charger made for lithium to ensure you get the appropriate charge profile!
Another great review, thank you. I have been thinking about replacing my Honda 2000 with something that doesn’t use regular gas for the reasons you mentioned. I have been thinking about the Jackery 1000 power station. You can fully charge it while you are driving or with solar panels but then again we are back to solar panels. Power station with panels you are up to $1,300 before tax before that Uncle Sam guy.. Still trying to decide.
Hello Tango Bravo, my suggestion is that you stay away from the Jackery because they are still using old technology with their batteries, that being the outdated lithium ion instead of the newer, safer and longer lived lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4). Look at Bluetti, Oupes and other brands that are more up to date. EcoFlow is switching over, but not all of their products have the newer battery yet.
Hi you two! Yes, it was after you helped us out with your generator that we knew we had to get one. We're back home now and getting ready to see my older sis in FL in a couple of weeks or so. Much aloha to you!
Yea! I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was looking forward to your experience/recommendation for this generator. Great thoughts..will be checking it out. (Mom wears O2 at night) and although we have a good power station, I need to be sure she has power every night. Thanks again! Be well.
I remember you saying that and tried to get the video out asap just for you! A couple of folks have commented saying that they have had this generator for several years and it's great. Nice to know that.
That's a cool gen. Not sure if I've seen a propane only. If I did, I don't remember it. Which tends to be the case a lot for me lol. I have seen some that are hybrids and can do both propane and gas. I don't think ours can do that. I think we're strictly gasoline. I like how small this unit is. It would be pretty nice for overlanding (which we plan to do this summer) when we only have the hummer and a tent.

What I really like is that it will run for 3 hours off a 1lb bottle. I carry those for my stove and don't have room for a 20lb one on the outside of my truck camper shell. I do have a Honda and a conversion kit so I probably won't get one but I also like that it doesn't weigh much. Don't like the noise much though.
Rick and Linda, I really enjoy all your videos. My question is if you had to use this generator continuously if something went wrong with the solar, how long will it run on a 20 pound bottle of propane?
Hi Kevin. I'm using the generator to charge my Bluetti AC200P, a 2000wh unit, as well as my other power stations. I'm plugging in the AC brick that comes with each unit and it puts out the specified wattage, such as the AC200P brick putting out about 475+ watts. I can plug in two at the same time and it does fine.
Alp said they were working on a remote fob for electric starting last year. I've been waiting and they haven't mentioned it again. That would be the icing on the cake for these generators.
Roof space on a Toy Hauler is precious for solar panels, I don't have any panels under 445w each, 5x540w and my second array of 5x445w. Maximize your solar, 100, 200, 300 watt panels are really a waste of your roof real estate. even on completely cloud covered days, I still make 400-600watts/hr. I use around 20kWatt/hrs a day and I've only had to run my generator a handful of times in the last 2 years.
I only have enough space on the roof of my 6X10 for 600w, max, so I'm pretty limited. I need enough to run my Starlink, a power hungry laptop and the refrigerator, but during a rainy period I can get into a jam pretty fast. One thing about really large panels is that, on an off-road trailer, I would worry about the flexing of the large panel leading to breakage. On my tilt-up panel (200watts) I installed aluminum angle along the sides to help support it against the bouncing of the trailer. Just my thoughts.
@@gonagain I did some quick measurements (it was raining in “Always Hot & Sunny Tucson 🤣) and the length of my Canadian Solar panels (my small ones) are something like 42”x68”. I’ll try to look up the official sizes to be sure, but if they are under 70” in length - that would work!
That's a great looking solution for your occasional needs. I believe you'll find it easier to start if you start it in regular running mode rather than eco mode.
Good information. Been looking for a lite weight and propane unit for general use around my RV. Today I received my Alp 1000i I hope to have a good solar set up later but in meantime this Alp will be a good backup for my RV. I bought a seperate 30 # propane tank last year and the RV has SM solar roof panel to keep battery charged and the frig is propane or 110. Now to service the generator/ familiarize myself with it and test it out. The pull start is the only thing I don't care for but if its a good unit that shouldn't be an issue.
@@gonagain Yes, thats what the manual says also. I just need to get gutsy enough to get it prepped & start it. Basically I fear propane 😉 Even though I've used it for years. Guess Age Matters SO don't have the Gutsy I use-ta....hahaha I can DO I hope....

I got word in mid April 2023 from ALP that they are still working on their higher watt generator. They got 1850 running watts to work but surge was having issues.
Yes, I'm glad that ALP is making sure their higher watt propane only generator is high quality instead of rushing out a product with issues like some other companies do.
Nice episode. Showing us something unique. What is the recommended hours for oil change? Type of oil? Warranty time? I think cleaner burning propane (cleaner than gasoline) this engine may have long years of life? Thanks for the information.
Like# 1,6?? - still one of my favorites! Propane, who'da thunk it? I love this for absolute survival wattage. This would be good for overnight to run the survival loads (heat). I'm curious how I would connect 2 of these in parallel to get 240v since my generator connection is 240v - 50amp... I just don't have/carry propane, I no longer carry my generator as well, so no gas either. The over paneled solar generates enough even on stormy days to keep the battery pack topped off. But this would be an ideal third option!
Thank you so much for all your excellent videos. Always helpful and informative. This generator looks to be a great backup plan. My concern with it, is being able to start it. I have a bad shoulder and am a older women. I was wondering can your wife start it? How many pulls do you find it needs to start. To bad they don't have the remote start. Thanks Happy Trails
They have a remote start one on the way and should be available in the next couple of months. On this one, Linda can start it ok, giving it two easy pulls before giving it a faster pull. Be sure to bleed the line until you smell the propane.
Just get a Honda with propane kit if you really want propane. If you rarely use a genny, I guess you won't really care about using the cheapo stuff. but if your use case calls for more than occasional duty, you will certainly see the difference. Honda's are truly at another level. reliability and very low noise. Wonder if the alps will be running 2 years from now? How long have they been making gennys?
Rick, I AM back on! 🤗 I will be sure to keep an eye on my subscription & Notifications! Mine only shut off Notifications! Maybe you could find out how someone was able to do that??? 🤔
Welcome back, Carolee! It happens to all of the channels on TH-cam and just seems to be a glitch of some kind. I check my subscriptions to my favorite channels periodically just to make sure.
I had the 900 watt Ryobi propane generator. The issue I had was it was it only could output 700 watt continuous, (the 900 was just for moments). and my battery charger took 750 watt. I was also not happy with their quality control. Soon a wire inside pulled itself off. I am handy, so I fixed it. Then it started leaking oil from the crankcase. Apparently the lower engine mounts go all the way into the crankcase and if they loosen, it leaks. I will be replacing it with the ALP 1000. it says 850 continuous, so that will power the 40 amp charger.
This grandma is not mechanically inclined-thanks Rick for explaining this generator in a language I understand 😂 What would I need to learn in order to maintain it properly? Thx again
Just a matter of changing the oil at regular periods. It's a very simple oil change too. Just tip it up and pour the oil out (the same hole you add oil into) and install fresh oil. It only takes 7 ounces.
It's the same as any other generator, although being propane powered the oil doesn't get contaminated as fast. I put a cover over it to keep the rain off.
I am still getting notifications of a new video, so I guess I am still a subscriber. Great video Rick. Question; do you know the "tongue weight " of your trailer when you are fully loaded?
Can you tell me if you used this in high elevation? We travel to Yellowstone National park and I would like to know I this works around 7000 ft elevation. Thank you.
The generator is not compatible with my 2022 TT .. It has to do with Intel equipment in my trailer. Advance technology.. Had to return it unused. HOWEVER that was 3/31/2023 Still have NO refund from the Alp Co. 🤔 Not a Happy Camper 😒
@@gonagain Just an FYI, I contacted ALP and they have gotten good feedback from people using it at 10,000 feet, just need to keep the propane tank above freezing. They suggested pointing the exhaust at the propane tank while running the generator. Also, no gas powered generator will operate properly at that altitude, they make kits but you would have to alter the carburetor every time you moved up about 3000 feet, so alter at 3, 6 and 9000 ft.

There is no way a 1000 watt generator, rated at 700 watt continues, will power a 8000 btu electric motor type air conditioner under a load. Thanks for sharing, It's good to know that they hold up. Yes, the fumes are less, but still need to be avoided.
Good review, "again." Like the idea of propane only feature, plus able to run on 1lb bottles. Nice and compact.
@@greggfur9626 I wold love to have a larger one too. They said that a couple years ago when I ordered mine. Thanks for the info sir🎩
I like your generator and totally agree about not wanting to smell gasoline 🎉
That is exactly what I am looking at for myself. Can't quite pull the trigger because of the price, but it fits the need perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Good video Rick,
Looks like a great little generator to fill your needs.
When Jo-Ann and I spent the winter in Quartzsite, Arizona we had times when we didn't get enough sunshine for a few days for our solar to charge our batteries. We were thankful to have our generator to charge our house batteries.
JT
Yeah, I start panicking when the rainy days make it impossible for me to work. Hope you two are doing well!
The drawback is that you have less power with propane, and when you get to altitude, you will have issues. Not an problem down in the desert.
@@gonagain But modern gas genny's, even cheapos, have a run dry feature and fuel drain on the carb for long term storage. I have a honda and 2 china cheapos, they all have those features. Never an issue in the spring. Simple maintenance. And because I don't keep my genny or fuel in the trailer, I never ever smell gas. l
@@astrobob9432 I agree on your Honda choice, and I never have a gas smell issue, they are the premium and best you can buy.
@@astrobob9432
What issues are you speaking of with a propane gen @ high altitudes.? I live @ 6,500 (for 20 yrs ) but never had a gen here. I did order a LG dual fuel (gas / propane) but in reading the manual I knew I did not want gas - I do not want to do carb/kit change here & again if I go to desert in winter. With propane not necessary. Took it back to TSC. Also learned I would not be able to use it without winch set-up in my truck. @ 70+ & Solo not really feasible 😊
So I'm hoping with a more manageable weight this Alp will be a good fit. AND if it proves to have less power up here I'm thinking lights / charging abilities will be sufficient for my use.
Thanks Rick. Just ordered one from Amazon!
Hello David! I'm seeing a couple of comments here from people who have owned one of these for several years and they say they're great. That's good to hear.
Always enjoy learning new things from you folks. I can't picture needing this level of power - but you never know!
Great option. Thanks for sharing.👍🏻
You made a good point many overlook. Even though it's small, it is also most fuel efficient for charging batteries. I can still get high power through my inverter without running an oversize generator.
Really good item to have on hand. Thanks for sharing this.
Stay safe out there. Thanks for the video. Yes we do have a Honda and love it.
Definitely like this generator. Been in the back of my mind to get one. Thanks for your opinion Rick. 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻🤙🏻
👍🏾 already got the propane generator last year for the same purpose.
Hmmm ...that looks very useful.
Thanks for sharing!
That thing is cool!
I appreciate this, very good information to have.
👍👍nice unit.
Hey Rick..great demo ! I've had solar & a gen from the beginning.. gotta have all your bases covered 👍
Yes you do!
Man!…seriously, this generator is exactly what I’ve been looking for… thanks mate!
Keeping everything simple and light. Great Ideas!
Like that lightweight generator and the price is not bad...thx
Nice thanks for sharing, have a blessed day
Thank you for this info. Exactly what I to needed. Hope you are all good. 5 degrees right now in Steamboat. Single digits for the next couple of nights. I miss Az!
Hi Donna! Yikes, glad we're not in Steamboat although it's been cold here in MT but it's warming up to the mid 30's. We miss AZ too.
That's exactly why we like it too. Linda especially likes the lightweight aspect and the no gas stink.
Nice little system. Be safe.
I love the exhaust smell of a two-stroke engine. What I use to avoid oil changes and keeping up with hours ran.
I like that generator looks like a great option
Good video and very useful if you’re already using propane and even if you didn’t have propane at hand this generator makes a very fine argument...
I have had vary good luck with mine for 2 and a half years.
That's good to hear!
Love learning about something new - thanks!
@8:15 I see you have the Hitch Tongue Lock as well as the hitch lock! Layers!
That's right! Layers.
Awesome find Rick...thanks for sharing this.. I'm impressed. 😊👍
It's a nice thing to have, giving me some leeway when the weather gets cloudy.
For sure a gas/propane would be better for prepping. You're very right about that.
What a good idea. I need more solar. But this is a good back up when the sun isn't shining and you always have propane.
We've been looking for a propane generator. We camp in the North Woods a lot and this would definitely help!
Nice...Handy😁
I like the propane part...I'm adding lithium batteries to my trailer... I'll put them inside so I can add a 2nd propane bottle to the tongue. Thanks Rick
Judging by some of the comments, it looks like these generators hold up well. See you around, Chris!
@@gonagain I'll be in Helena this summer.
Keep us posted on that, Chris. It would be nice to see you.
@@gonagain I will. I'll be there for a few weeks
Aloha Rick & Linda, glad you found a Generator for your needs-good going. Hope you guys doing well, we're good-camped at BLM. Keep in touch. V & B~

Hello, Patrick, it looks like that one has been discontinued. That's too bad because it looks like it was a nice little generator.
@@gonagain yes, to bad.
I've been enjoying your videos on dessert and candy!

50hrs
@@JeffSkymaster thank you
@@JeffSkymaster on a light load, not at full load though. Still a great gen.
Yeah, probably 50 hours like Jeff said. The manufacturer says 60 hours off of a 20lb tank at 25% power.

How long did it take to charge your lithium batteries and what size are your lithium batteries? What size is your lithium battery charger?
@@gonagain I get it; not batteries per se, but power stations. Thanks for replying.
Alp said they were working on a remote fob for electric starting last year. I've been waiting and they haven't mentioned it again. That would be the icing on the cake for these generators.
Yeah, I heard that too and am looking forward to seeing it.
Hello! You can make a folding box out of corotated plastic board and sound proofing foam will knock down the sound 70 %. good video peace.
Thanks for the suggestion, I can see how that would work.
Great video Rick. Where is the pie🤣
Hmmm... pie.
Thank you, Keith!!!
Good information. Been looking for a lite weight and propane unit for general use around my RV.
Today I received my Alp 1000i
I hope to have a good solar set up later but in meantime this Alp will be a good backup for my RV. I bought a seperate 30 # propane tank last year and the RV has SM solar roof panel to keep battery charged and the frig is propane or 110. Now to service the generator/ familiarize myself with it and
test it out. The pull start is the only thing I don't care for but if its a good unit that shouldn't be an issue.
One person told me that it starts easier if you have the switch set to Normal and not Eco.

Ok, that's nice , however, I just bought a brand new sportsman 1000 Watt with Sine wave Inverter gas Inverter/Generator from tractor supply. For my back up. It weighs 23 lbs. Just as "quiet" & runs all night on 1/2 gallon of gasoline. ($139.00 on sale brand new in the box.)

It's a great company for customer service.
Two is one and one is none when it comes to power supplies :P
I just received mine! ;)
We've had to use it when we were without sun for 4 days on our little trailer.
Yamaha makes a nice little 2000 watt gen that's quiet and and small picked 1 up at Costco for 499.00 last year
Thank you so much for all your excellent videos.
Always helpful and informative.
This generator looks to be a great backup plan. My concern with it, is being able to start it. I have a bad shoulder and am a older women. I was wondering can your wife start it? How many pulls do you find it needs to start. To bad they don't have the remote start.
Thanks
Happy Trails
They have a remote start one on the way and should be available in the next couple of months. On this one, Linda can start it ok, giving it two easy pulls before giving it a faster pull. Be sure to bleed the line until you smell the propane.
Thank you. I will wait to see if the remote one comes on the market.
Very helpful.
Just checking does the generator provide a pure sine wave?
Yes it does.
@@gonagain that’s awesome 👍
can you do a video on how to change the oil and do maintanence on this generator?
I think I will, if I remember. Keep watching!
Rick, I AM back on! 🤗
I will be sure to keep an eye on my subscription & Notifications!
I'll be doing an update on this generator pretty soon. It's all good!
How often do you have to change the oil? What about weather..water resistant? When you say no sun I think rain.
It's the same as any other generator, although being propane powered the oil doesn't get contaminated as fast. I put a cover over it to keep the rain off.
It’s genius
I am still getting notifications of a new video, so I guess I am still a subscriber.
Great video Rick.
Question; do you know the "tongue weight " of your trailer when you are fully loaded?
I don't and I need to find out the total weight and the tongue weight.
I got a big surprise as I am finishing my cargo trailer. I am rearranging some things.
What is your battery capacity? Once I switched to lithium, rainy days never ran me low enough to worry.
Rick I noticed you all use the same type of hitch lock as we do. Do you have the stainless steel puck or the aluminium one?
The aluminum one.
Thanks Rick. Do you know how much power the battery charger uses. I was just wondering if the Bluetti 700 would work? Good review.
Hello Chuck, this would charge the EB700 no problem.
So Rick, now that you have had time to use this generator for a while, are you still considering it to be a good purchase?
Yes it was.
Would the Alp 1000 be strong enough to recharge the Ocelot Pro?
Oh yes, and I've used it to charge my ebike batteries already. I can charge my Bluetti AC200P and my ebike battery at the same time.
Can you tell me if you used this in high elevation? We travel to Yellowstone National park and I would like to know I this works around 7000 ft elevation. Thank you.
Propane works at elevation so this should too.
The generator is not compatible with my 2022 TT .. It has to do with Intel equipment in my trailer. Advance technology.. Had to return it unused. HOWEVER that was 3/31/2023 Still have NO refund from the Alp Co.
🤔 Not a Happy Camper 😒
Do you know how well this generator works at high altitudes?? (8-10,000ft)
Thank you.
We bought this when we were in the desert and haven't been to any high elevations with it yet.
Thank for that info!
5:00 am coming from Honolulu Hawaii aloha.
Aloha!
Ok, at what level of power generation is the 1lb/hr?
The Alp website says the run time is based on a 25 percent load.
