It just turns off equalizers and safety precautions, you MAY get better bass if you feed it with the right, equalized music, but for most devices, it just fucks up sound quality and moves the drivers like crazy. (Trying to go lower than 70Hz, failing miserably.) I don't know if the speaker registers doing this, so you MAY lose warranty if one of the speakers blow, and it will if you do this, trust me. No speaker can withstand prolonged abuse. It may not fail outright, but does go muddy, starts crackling, etc. Just saying, not trying to be the smartass, just trying to prevent people from making grave mistakes. x| Had Xtreme1, now using Xtreme2. (Not recommending the upgrade. Almost RMA-d mine it sucked so hard compared to Xtreme 1, also it looks a lot cheaper, they removed the brushed aluminum radiators...)
Guys to reset your jbl xtream completely you press down + and >|| for 10 seconds if you have any problems, this will make the speaker go back to the factory settings, this will also make you have to pair it up again when you open it :)

Aswin Frn lol you decreased the bass then just put it back to normal. That mode you did is the low frequency mode. It doesn't respond to much above 50 hz. Thats why the bass decreases. You can do this with all the JBL speakers.

nope it sounds flat and there is no 60hz boosted bass since dsp is off when you hold down vol and bluetooth, restarting speaker put it in default mode where dsp is on @@DavidNabinger
You may use 100% vol for not to long or the drivers will get hot and a chance burn up but not blow but it is depending if you have a gg or tl because the gg has a cheap plastic come but the tl has a paper cone

DOn't think you can shut it off completely but you can use only Aux: don't connect to it via Bluetooth and use aux cord, JBL Xtreme will auto detect audio via aux & not Bluetooth & use aux cord audio.
Is there a way to limit it's max volume? I bought one off Ebay that was SAID to have only been used twice, but it's max volume is not very loud at all. In fact, I don't think it's any louder than my JBL charge.
joke is turning off and on manualy does the same thing as ''increase'' the bass - it just resets to default mode, no need waiting for 10 seconds like if you want to make sound flat (turn off dsp)
Plug it in..and hold the jbl connect button (next to power) and volume up until one of the leds at the bottom turns red (this took about 10 seconds) and it should work just fine

I have a Sony XB 21 speaker and it has an app for cellphone and there is a 3 band equalizer ...Bass ,Mids and Treble with frequence range of -10 to +10 ..much more easy to use.

Aswin Frn lol you decreased the bass then just put it back to normal. That mode you did is the low frequency mode. It doesn't respond to much above 50 hz. Thats why the bass decreases. You can do this with all the JBL speakers.
