The US Gov website suggests that same day passport renewal is an impossibility unless an immediate family member is dying overseas. Barring that, can we still get same day renewal?
You could with proof of travel within 14 days last year when I recorded the video. Call the State Department number in the 14 day window as I explain in the video. Hopefully there are more appointments than last year!
I've heard the agency fees and capabilities vary widely, and they're ultimately going through the same locations. I wouldn't have spent the money for the extra airfare if I'd actually been given correct information by the phone rep, who said I'd get the passport in 60-90 minutes, versus the reality of pickup at 3PM, no exceptions.
@@josh2k4 If I had a ticket for November 7th, and called today (October 24th and 14 calendar days from travel), they would tell me to call back tomorrow. For reasons I do not understand the appointment line seems to interpret "Travel within 2 weeks" as "less than 14 calendar days." I don't know the rhyme or reason, and you may get a different answer depending on the mood of the phone rep, alignment of the moon and sun, or some other factor. As I mention in the video, be prepared for "false information" as well. The phone rep told me a max of 90 minutes for processing in Atlanta, which turned into 6 hours since they didn't release the new passports until an arbitrary time in the afternoon.
@@TheBigHeavywhat do you mean by thoroughly? Do they check what date the flight tickets were purchased? Do they also check if the tickets are valid/ haven't been cancelled? Btw loved your story, it was as suspenseful as it was informative 🙏
@@raulrivera6743 The final lady looked at my printed flight confirmation, and highlighted a bunch of stuff in yellow, then gave it back to me. I would guess she at least checked the date and that my name was on there, but I doubt they ran any check with the airline, although I have no way of knowing that for sure.
Thank you for candidly explaining your real life experiences.
Sorry.. that doesnt help me "personally", who would go through all this process of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE😂Good information to know.. though.. Thank you.
I am in this same exact situation right now, trying to work through it. Thank you for posting this.
Good luck! It’s frustrating and not much you can do other than dance to the tune of the state department.
@@TheBigHeavy fyi got it today!
@@JasonHenson1975 Awesome! Safe travels!

Wow hope your having fun In France! Also W video
Thank you for the vid. Am I missing something or for the money you spent wouldn’t you have been better off just paying a 3rd party agency to get it?

@@TheBigHeavy Makes sense. Not worth the stress of bringing in a 3rd party and adding that unknown factor. Thank you again.
So if make a appointment on the 4th, i have to purchase the ticket for 16th? Making it exactly 2 weeks?
Theoretically you need to buy the ticket first, and they’ll let you book an appointment starting 13 calendar days before your flight.
@@TheBigHeavy can you give me an example?

When making phone appointment, did you need to give them air ticket confirmation number? Also, thank you for making this video.
No, nothing required during the call, but I did print out my itinerary and they checked it over pretty thoroughly at my appointment.
