What a difference the paint makes, the room is so light now and not a dark hole. The strawberry pink looks delicious and once Belle adds her touches it will be a beautiful room. Happy to see you kept that door as is, just freshening it up, it 's a wonderful door.

Bell's room looks so good. It really looks bright and much larger. You guys do such beautiful work. Our house was built in 1914. So we also tried to keep the old doors, glass doorknobs and floors. It was alot of extra work but worth it.
Being the talented artist she is, if she says it’s perfect it must be.

I generally do not like painted wood, but the room really needed to be lightened up. Belle's room will be fantastic.
You may not want to hear this, but those small holes in the closet leave a place for bugs to get in the closet. I put my clothes on racks in my room after I got all kinds of bugs showing up in the pockets. They like wool and cotton. I was in Houston, the weather there is a lot like Florida. Something to keep a watch for. Have loved your channel for years !
It doesn't bother us, we're not worried out it. The holes are so small and they don't even go all the way through the boards.
Oh, Belle is going to love that room. I can't get over how bright and pleasant it looks with the new paint.
If Bell likes it, that is all that matters. I remember the pink glass door knob, I kinda figured back then that she had a pink theme in mind. Maverick you are the cutest 😊

I used to work at Sherwin Williams for a few years. Masking paper would have been a better choice. It is lightweight and comes in a variety of widths. 12" wide masking paper might have been adequate to keep the pink off the ceiling. The paper you are using is for floors and meant to be walked on, hence the heavy weight.
We actually bought that paper for the floor, but we like to use what we have on hand. It worked, almost :)
@@diyfferent A roll of masking paper is about the cheapest thing you can buy. Save that heavy paper for future projects. I used to have a roll I used for all kinds of projects. I would even lay cookies on a piece straight out of the oven. I recently bought a new roll to cover the windows in our ambulance while painting the exterior. There will always be a use for the heavy paper.

Paint shellac on the bleed through.Then give it another coat of paint. It will stop the bleed through.

I have always been told to use flat ceiling paint on the ceiling, any type of gloss paint makes the light create a glare.

When you showed the paper had fallen....my heart sank. I felt so bad but, let me say after all that worry everything looks beautiful....very feminine and the color Bell picked reminds me of a beautiful Victorian room ......all she would need is a Victorian style bed, antique floor lamp and vanity. love the door ....I am another person who loves to let things alone that show its character. I am sure whatever Bell picks for her room will be beautiful. Maverick is so adorable ...I can't believe how fast they are growing. What a sweet family❤

Well that was very sweet.
No need for sanding the door again or applying a second coat of shellac. Rubbing out the door using #0000 steel wool loaded with paste wax is all that is needed to get a fantastic finish.

I love the color of Belle’s room, my sewing room is painted a similar pink and I enjoy the rosy glow. You can spray or brush shellac over the paint before you do the finish coat of paint and it will block the bleed through.

No disasters, just a little change in plans.
So I watch this after I watch the window episode and I want you to know that when we rebuilt our home after the fire in 2020 here in Napa, we too used mythic paint. It’s excellent coverage and it looks beautiful in our home and from what I could tell from the Vlog, the ceiling and the walls in your daughter’s bedroom look beautiful. Well done.

I’ve got to tell you, you guys relaxing on the porch and chatting looks great 😊. The bedroom is perfect! I am so excited to see how everyone decorates their space! I really loves this house.
The bottom of the door looks like our old dog Nigel was there. We put up a plywood board in the kitchen doorway from the laundry room while we were at work to keep him from chewing on stuff. He literally ATE a section of the floor tile & a hole about 3' wide & tall in the wall!! He never threw any of it up!!

So fun to see the transformation of this room! As for bleed through...Jami Ray Vintage has always done a cheap spray shellac over dark wood, sometimes after the base coat of paint, to prevent bleed through into the final coat. I don't know if that would work for you in the future, but it's an idea. And Ashley and Maverick are BOTH too cute!
Shellac is an excellent stain blocker.

It's looking so good! That's what I love about old houses, the imperfections are part of the charm. When we lived in Scotland we wall papered the ceiling! I laugh when I think about holding the paper up with a broom handle. LOL! The door is awesome!

I remember my dad cleaning his paint gun after loaning it out to people. They thought it was clean but there was paint in the nozzle and especially the screens.
He took it all apart and soaked the parts in gasoline to remove residue. Our gun was metal in the 1950s so maybe parts are different now. Shellac spray blocks the wood tannins from bleed through. You still need the primer though.

Very interesting. MAYBE the wear on the door is from rubbing on something, but we think it looks more like an animal has been gnawing on it. Anyway... We think it's cool to leave it that way. God bless!
