- What you see here is a watch that we did not expect to encounter at Baselworld heading into 2018, but perhaps we should have. It's the completely redesigned Breguet Marine, a line that fits more comfortably within the Breguet fold with its new look than previous iterations did. It picks up and runs with a handful of design codes seen last year in Baselworld with the Breguet Marine Equation Marchant 5887. That was an incredibly complex talking piece of a watch that came with a visible cam for the equation of time imposed onto a tourbillon, in addition to a perpetual calendar display. Here we have a simple automatic with date. If last year's release was the Marine talking piece, this year's is its flagship.

He was probably too disappointed to wear it. He does have some points on the missed design direction but a wrist shot added to this vid can really sell a watch to people. How many times have we disliked a watch initially but seeing it on someone else's wrist made us mentally exclaim "hmmm not bad"

I love the watch and the lume is an on point modern must. It adds to that Mistique in low light gatherings. Otherwise picture yourself on a yacht gathering as the Sun goes down picturesque like on the ocean and your prestigious timepiece lacks a little Moonglow.Pateks movement decoration is 2nd to none but front of house is truly looking dated and a tad fuddy-duddy. The King is dead, long live the King.

I expect the guys at Hodinkee understand that this has ended any relationship they had with Breguet... perhaps I'm wrong.
However, it's refreshing to see a more critical [/balanced] video that outlines the positives AND the potential negatives.

Hi Guys, thanks for the responses; I was essentially pointing out that it was good to see an unbiased review, many TH-cam channels are extremely biased as to what they review and how they do it, particularly with watches, as they are sent the watches for review... I was not being sarcastic when I said 'nice job'.
jackspot how is it not biased? Saying the price is good for such a shitter ? It has a bit of gold ... let’s say 100 g which is 3.5 k dolllars alright ... but then charge it 12 k not 30 ... otherwise no real sense person would ever buy it. In today’s market you can’t charge any price you want. Not even Patek can. Like for that money you can get a nicer Lange. And if you buy on a grey market you can buy a chrono graph from Lange for that money ... so believe me this was a fake review just to make a review ... like unbiased or honest there brother

There’s a lot in this watch that should appeal to the modern $30K watch buyer. Eg, blue dial, white gold, integrated bracelet, cool design on dial, and 40mm diameter. Designed to sell I’d say.

The lum is just too strange. I never thought applied numerals could be creepy before this watch.
Gr8 video! Not sure if this WG example was a sample. There was a blob of paint on the T and E by the looks, the B didn't look good either in a dial zoom shot. And there were metal shavings in Brequet on the caseback zoom shot...those could find their way into the mvt itself - looks sub standard for a 30k watch.
I conjecture that their macro shots are always chosen advisedly when they show these kinds of flaws. As always with these videos, the macro editing says more than the script.

Breguet have used design cues from Ulysses Nardin Watches for the new Marine. Which I believe has made the watch very bland and uninteresting in its overall appeal.

Ohhh wow those applied lume-filled numerals are a disaster. How this was passed as ok is perplexing. White printed would be more appropriate.

Just make a Hands On or In Depth, but is is not a week on the wrist.
This is clearly "integrated" but I've seen this on a beaclet, rubber band, and leather strap? Can these be swapped out ?

I wouldn't want one if it was 300 dollars. It's awful but cudos to Hodinkee for showing a bit of criticism for once.
I dont like the blocky roman indexes and new center lugs. I prefer the previous marine design.

Nobody at any point questioned Breguet's importance in the Luxury Watch industry. I was just making the point that it was a bad move to copy something that was so obviously unique to another elite watch brand. Few will care or notice that Patek uses the Breguet over-coil, but the majority of Patek owners and luxury watch enthusiasts will notice the fact that Breguet copied their unique design element.
It was originally used on the Breguet classicique line.

The previous generation was so much better, a shame that Breguet ruined it to jump on the integrated lug sports watch bandwagon.

Breguet just doesn't have that brand appeal anymore, at least speaking for myself.
It is quite nice this Marine. The part that makes less sense is the prior Marine model was stunning, front and back, and the new model is not as striking as the outgoing model.

In today’s market you have to be comparative otherwise nobody will ever buy you ... this is no Patek ... there is no demand for such shitters ... and it’s time Vacheron Blancpain Breguet AP understood it. You can buy those shitters for half of price new on chrono ... why are they still pricing those ugly watches so high ... don’t they understand the demand vs supply rule ? The key factor is the price there. Not sure about Vacheron Blancpain & Breguet, but APs are sold as hot cakes. See any new millionaire's watch collection and you'll find few APs and Pateks. So no way their prices are going down ( I wish they go down though because I can't afford one right now :( )
