Thats true, but hemis back then you could get a rt for about 25gs then spend another 25 making it into a fast 9 second car. And still beimg cheaper than this car, and all of its upgrades, after you spend a whole bunch of cash doing trial and error on the ECU.
@@mrkojak-ci1zm you can add headers , steeda cold intake and h pipe if you’re still not satisfied lol but plenty of big name tuners have their hands on it , only a matter of time by the end of the year it’ll be unlocked
$42,460 is not $50k brother. Which in fact would NOT be the problem still. It's the ECU and tune-ability like the man said. There's no extreme potential at the moment. Which is what mustang owners want.
@thedoctormma9433 I just bought a 24 Mustang GT. I haven't seen a single car lot yet that is selling the new mustang for less than $49k. Mine was almost $60k after taxes, title, fees, and financing. I couldn't imagine what people are paying that have bad credit.
@atre6652 That's a crazy deal for a brand new 5.0! The lowest i just seen online was $43k and that's because they finally marked it down from $48,900. Looks like all the 24s are being marked down.
The problem with car companies nowadays is that everyone wants to force you to go a dealership for repairs. There's no one that gets excited for a God damn computer, how about they just make a vehicle that's simple & customizable. This is why Shelby has been doing so well 😂
Yo! Shameless plug here and using the wrong account for it too, but that's the plan here! Just, gonna be a good wait unfortunately. Better get it right or as close to, the first time though.
I think this Mustang isn’t selling so badly because of the locked ecu (even though it’s definitely playing a part) I think it’s because interest rates are through the roof on an already expensive car. Gas prices are crazy, the economy is wack. Just about everything is looking down on the new car scene.
Still tryong to figure out why someone hasn't just started building "used" cars with a fresh powertrain and a redone interior. Crate motors are cheap, crate trans are cheap, and the market you would aim at wouldn't give 2 sht about features. How many people want a base model car or pickup from before 2000 just because it doesn't suck?
A lot of people do that, ever seen a 86’ Monte Carlo with a 5th Gen Camaro interior? Or a 97’ mustang with a S550 interior? A lot of classic builds are basically just classic body, new motors, trans, technology, wheels, brakes, interior, sound systems. Also, Crate motors are not cheap, junkyard motors are cheap. You’d be better off getting an old LQ9 motor or some other LS motor than buying a New performance crate motor from a performance shop. Most desirable crate motors are in the 10’s of thousands of dollars. They’re probably cheap to people want an all out build, but junkyard motors are the best bang for your buck.
@Silenthwk-e6o you're thinking performance, I'm thinking endurance. You think a re-manned Iron Duke is gonna dominate at the track? Nah. It will dominate the market.
I almost got a 2024 mustang. I think the styling is awesome. But the cost for the premium GT built out with all the stuff was way too much. Like 60k. I jumped on the single cab bandwagon
I was super tempted to get one of the new mustangs, specd one out the way I wanted it. Came out to over 60k. I turned around and now im looking at finding a c6 ZR1 for the right price. Hell, I may even just get a Grandsport and go from there
I work at the Ford engine dynamometer lab. We created the perf and durability calibration from the mustang GTD. We use lots of GTD technology like rods and tunes to make it a track beast. If you look at track times from similar weight and power vehicles compared to the dark horse youll see record breaking numbers on the track with a bullet proof engine.
Its locked because Ford said and EVERY manufacturer actually went to Congress and said you don't actually own the electronics. They sell you upgrades to it 🤫😉 lol
I have a locked ECU cuz I'm running a Cali-smog ECU from an 86 300zx. My Z is an 86 too but it's not a smog model. I'm going to fix that tho, then it won't run so damn rich haha
I already got a mustang, but IF and only IF I want to trade it in, I'm either gonna get a s550 mach 1 or a v6 raptor swap base model with a RTR widebody kit

Yep! C8 Vette is a good example of it.
Hard to imagine someone isn't trying it now
The software engineers will eventually make a crack for it but they have to let the EPA feel like they can control something first.
Today's Cars Have Way To Many Electronics!
youre about 20 years early to this conversation
True, but the main issue with the new Mustangs is that they can't be tuned
