I presented the proof (Article 116 of the Organic Law Electoral Processes). I explained that the actual limit is actually 48h. I put a translation of the article and a link to the PDF of the law. Witnesses from the opposition party scanned the tally sheets in every polling station in the country. The normal procedure is for the results of each polling station to be read at the end of the day and a document is signed by everyone present. We managed to recover 84% of those tally sheets and documents. It is impossible for Maduro to have won the election. Those tally sheets are on the web for everyone to see. We are just pointing out that the National Electoral Council should've by now published those results, the fact they haven't is highly suspicious. We just want them to publish the results for the government to be forced to admit what we have known for a long time. Edmundo González won.
Actually you're wrong. Article 116 states that 48 hours is the time limit to aggregate the results, Article 125 states that publication of the results of the election is 30 days after the announcement of the winning candidate

In past elections the CNE always proudly presented the detailed results by electoral center, municipality, city, district, state and ultimate the country total votes; now they cannot produce that because the detailed data (as published by the MUD) is showing a result that is not in favor of the Cartel.
I know nothing about Venezuelan politics... but the guy made some points, and the lady talked past them. None of the guys claims were rebutted or addressed. He said the tallies at the precincts dont add up to the result that is being announced, and she said the voting on the ground was conducted fairly... these things could both be true. The fact that the lady did not speak to the problems that the guy raised leaves me thinking that either he is correct and she is a distraction, or that she is the the wrong person to speak to his claims (like she doesnt have any relevant info to speak to his issues, so some one else should be consulted).

I agree mostly with your read on their discussion. But Lander didn't seem to say that the tallies at the precinct didn't add up. He pointed out problems with the checks to secure the system that seem to have been ignored, which is informative. But, it sounded to me, like he heard observations from poll workers and inferred a statistical discrepancy. Assuming they have secret ballots, that wouldn't be direct evidence. Also, Farnia mentioned that there were observers from both parties at the stations. Maybe there is hard evidence about how individual polling stations results don't add up with the national reported results, but I didn't hear Lander explicitly invoking it. Both sides seem to have holes in their arguments.

And now I read that the Carter Center analyzed the available vote data and also concluded that Maduro lost. But was this video even about the elections? It was supposed to be about democracy in Venezuela, but it mainly criticized the opposition party. I was surprised they didn't mention that Gonzales couldn't win because he is too old! Lots of other irrelevant information was presented that has nothing to do with democracy and how Venezuelans voted. If some of these things are important, why didn't Madura bring them up when he campaigned against the opposition. Maybe he did and Venezuelans just decided anything is better than Maduro.

Recalling that almost none of the Venezuelans living abroad were allowed to vote; that about 25% of Venezuelans live abroad; and that Venezuelans living abroad to almost 100% voted for EGU, we see that even if the CNE figures would have been correct, EGU would have won if the election had been free and fair. Secondly, the opposition has shown proof of their numbers, the regime has not [the papers they have shown were forged and it has been proven].

Hmm… In her initial remarks, Farnia didn't actually address any of Lander's claims about the election, and only addressed one relatively minor issue in her final remarks. That seems a bit fishy. Also, pretty much everything she said makes it sound like the observers didn't really know much beforehand about how elections in Venezuela are run and didn't get to observe anything they weren't specifically shown. That doesn't instill any confidence whatsoever in their ability to assess the validity of the election. (And who the hell cares what Carter "once" said about the country's electoral system?) Maybe their conclusions are correct, I don't know. But if that's the case, then Farnia did a _horrible_ job of getting that point across in this interview.

A total is not worth anything without the underlying data, and it was a huge mistake for any totals to be given without the data presented at the same time. It is very difficult for the people to trust their government when this basic information is denied to them.
The government CAN'T provide the [real] data. The [real] data, which is available from other sources, demonstrate without a doubt that Maduro LOST the election by 2/3 of all the votes.

The US has a history of meddling. So you can't blame people for siding against the US too much. But just because the US is often doing wrong in its interference doesn't mean some of the regimes it opposes aren't also bad for reasons other than "being socialist".

Because Maria Corina is part of an opposition that has screamed election fraud in pretty much every election since Chavez was elected, and even tried to circumvent the entire constitutional process through a coup to install a president no-one had voted for (Guadió). Quite frankly, they have made fools of themselves one too many times. I don't know what happened here, only time and a thorough investigation will find out, but I do know that large parts of the Venezuelan opposition has tried again and again to undermine democracy in Venezuela with the help of the US.
I'm glad I saw this video. I think I learned some new and important facts about what's been going on in Venezuela. Amy's moderation seemed a bit off to me; she seemed to favor Nina's argument in the way she cut Lander off without warning. I think Amy is generally a wonderful journalist, but Lander's argument seemed to be valid and I think Amy should have been a bit more diplomatic.

As soon as the US removed the sanctions over Venezuela two years ago because of the war in Ukraine and the need for oil, Venezuela reduced its inflation until 1%, foreign investment increased, and the economy has grown up for the past two years between 8-10%. Every day that passes and the documents (actas) are not reported gives suspicion that results might be manipulated. Also, the Supreme Court of Venezuela after 25 years of Chavismo is not a trusted institution at all. You also have to take into consideration that candidates were banned from running and given less tv air than the government candidate. I presented the proof (Article 116 of the Organic Law Electoral Processes). I explained that the actual limit is actually 48h. I put a translation of the article and a link to the PDF of the law. The comment was gaining traction, 100 likes in less than an hour. Suddenly the comment gets deleted. Very democratic democracy now

Witnesses from the opposition party scanned the tally sheets in every polling station in the country. The normal procedure is for the results of each polling station to be read at the end of the day and a document is signed by everyone present. We managed to recover 84% of those tally sheets and documents. It is impossible for Maduro to have won the election. Those tally sheets are on the web for everyone to see. We are just pointing out that the National Electoral Council should've by now published those results, the fact they haven't is highly suspicious. We just want them to publish the results for the government to be forced to admit what we have known for a long time. Edmundo González won.

In past elections the CNE always proudly presented the detailed results by electoral center, municipality, city, district, state and ultimate the country total votes; now they cannot produce that because the detailed data (as published by the MUD) is showing a result that is not in favor of the Cartel.

I know nothing about Venezuelan politics... but the guy made some points, and the lady talked past them. None of the guys claims were rebutted or addressed.
He said the tallies at the precincts dont add up to the result that is being announced, and she said the voting on the ground was conducted fairly... these things could both be true.
The fact that the lady did not speak to the problems that the guy raised leaves me thinking that either he is correct and she is a distraction, or that she is the the wrong person to speak to his claims (like she doesnt have any relevant info to speak to his issues, so some one else should be consulted).
She refused to acknowledge that fraud happen. The data shows that the official numbers don’t match and no official evidence of the paper tallies provided.

But Lander didn't seem to say that the tallies at the precinct didn't add up. He pointed out problems with the checks to secure the system that seem to have been ignored, which is informative. But, it sounded to me, like he heard observations from poll workers and inferred a statistical discrepancy. Assuming they have secret ballots, that wouldn't be direct evidence. Also, Farnia mentioned that there were observers from both parties at the stations.
Maybe there is hard evidence about how individual polling stations results don't add up with the national reported results, but I didn't hear Lander explicitly invoking it.

And now I read that the Carter Center analyzed the available vote data and also concluded that Maduro lost. But was this video even about the elections? It was supposed to be about democracy in Venezuela, but it mainly criticized the opposition party. I was surprised they didn't mention that Gonzales couldn't win because he is too old! Lots of other irrelevant information was presented that has nothing to do with democracy and how Venezuelans voted. If some of these things are important, why didn't Madura bring them up when he campaigned against the opposition. Maybe he did and Venezuelans just decided anything is better than Maduro.

Hmm… In her initial remarks, Farnia didn't actually address any of Lander's claims about the election, and only addressed one relatively minor issue in her final remarks. That seems a bit fishy. Also, pretty much everything she said makes it sound like the observers didn't really know much beforehand about how elections in Venezuela are run and didn't get to observe anything they weren't specifically shown. That doesn't instill any confidence whatsoever in their ability to assess the validity of the election. (And who the hell cares what Carter "once" said about the country's electoral system?) Maybe their conclusions are correct, I don't know. But if that's the case, then Farnia did a _horrible_ job of getting that point across in this interview.

A total is not worth anything without the underlying data, and it was a huge mistake for any totals to be given without the data presented at the same time. It is very difficult for the people to trust their government when this basic information is denied to them.

As an American living in Colombia, I watched the entire post election shows where they actually went to the voting stations and counted the votes and read the tallies out loud. Maduro lost by a landslide. He is despised. This is NOT American imperialism.

Because Maria Corina is part of an opposition that has screamed election fraud in pretty much every election since Chavez was elected, and even tried to circumvent the entire constitutional process through a coup to install a president no-one had voted for (Guadió). I'm glad I saw this video. I think I learned some new and important facts about what's been going on in Venezuela. Amy's moderation seemed a bit off to me; she seemed to favor Nina's argument in the way she cut Lander off without warning. I think Amy is generally a wonderful journalist, but Lander's argument seemed to be valid and I think Amy should have been a bit more diplomatic.

Edgardo clearly points out that the Maduro government is authoritarian and a "Left" and/or "Socialist" government in name only. When 7 to 8 million people flee an oil-rich country due to poverty, it is hard to believe that a majority of voters would not vote for change. As soon as the US removed the sanctions over Venezuela two years ago because of the war in Ukraine and the need for oil, Venezuela reduced its inflation until 1%, foreign investment increased, and the economy has grown up for the past two years between 8-10%. The "word salad of US Imperialism and US Intervention" explains a lot of Venezuela's situation for the past 20 years.

It is not the ideology per se but what the government actually does. Sure the economy grew because of easing of sanctions and rising oil prices, but oil exports are down by a tremendous amount because of mismanagement. Power corrupts and Maduro the bus driver turned out to be great at consolidating power but terrible at governing. Chavez did not secure his legacy and all his good deeds and policies were undone by his successor.

Thank you! This is a much balanced reporting than your previous one. No one is disputing that the day of the elections processes were normal. Every day that passes and the documents (actas) are not reported gives suspicion that results might be manipulated. Also, the Supreme Court of Venezuela after 25 years of Chavismo is not a trusted institution at all. You also have to take into consideration that candidates were banned from running and given less tv air than the government candidate. So it is good that the day of the elections the process was clean but what happen before and after all the witness were gone matters as well.

The election proceeded normally. The problem is she didn't stick around to see what happened after, which is clear from the way she talks. The problem is not "did the ballots enter the box correctly" the problem is "what happened between polling stations closing at 6 pm and results getting announced at 2 am"
