Can we take a minute to appreciate Duncan’s dedication to make the perfect pancakes 🥞 for Liz!! 👏🏻 lol so sweet!! Great video...always exciting to see what y’all are up to ☺️. Also...loved the prom pic! 😂
I can attest to this recipe as the best vegan pancakes ever! I also didn’t use flax at all and they were great! I also made them once with regular flour and once with gluten free flour and still great. Thank you for your diligent research. 🙌🏼
Secret ingredients to add to your pancakes to make them the bbombdiggity: 1 Almond Extract (1/4 - 1/2 tsp) 2. About 3/4 cup Cooked Cream of Wheat (or rice if gf) This gives them that IHOP Griddle Cake Flavor Enjoy!
I have a waffle batter recipe which I need to try in a pancake form the recipe is: 1 ripe banana 1 cup of oats 1 cup of non-dairy milk whizzed in the blender and poured in the waffle iron they come out fluffy! Which is amazing as they have no rising agent in them.
It's great to see you two making cooking videos again! Y'all should try swedish pancakes and the patented flipping technique where you hoist the pancake high in the air and catch it with the skillet.
thank you so much for sharing this recipe!! i've never made vegan pancakes before because it seems most recipes insist on some expensive/gimmicky ingredient that i don't already have. I had all of this stuff in my house and made these today, amazing! for anyone using sweetened dairy-free milk (i used oatly) i just halved the amount of sugar i added and it tasted great
pancakes are my favorite food too! i eat them for breakfast literally every single day (but i make mine in the blender) 😍 sometimes for lunch too ( but on occasion i dooo add protein powder to them so they’re not JUST oats, cinnamon, banana, baking powder and water) 🤭 love them topped with any kind of jam
Just found your channel 😍😍 going through old videos and I can't get enough of theo and I can't wait to see more also hope your making it through this pandemic
If you want to make savoury Breton galettes you need only buckwheat flour and water - you can have them with so many things like fried mushrooms, scrambled tofu, chilli, curry - anything 😋
I’ve made many different vegan pancakes in the past! I tried this recipe today and my 5 year old daughter says it’s the best pancakes I’ve ever made! I agree :) thanks for creating this awesome pancake recipe!
my favorite is a store bought mix, birch benders brand, i either use the classic recipe or mix classic recipe and the plant protein one (70/30) for some added protein. Add water, crushed roasted hazelnuts and vegan chocolate chips. Make sure pan is very hot, and it makes the perfect pancakes. I don't bother making from scratch when the store bought one is so convenient and good, no crazy ingredients either (pretty much the same as what i would use at home)
Very nice! I add mashed banana and applesauce in mine in place of sugar or yogurt with a little oil and it's so so bomb 💕 oh and of course gotta use a cast iron pan it makes it fluffy & golden. My recipe: 1 cup flour, 1 cup plant milk, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 mashed banana, 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp applesauce, pinch of salt, 1 tsp vanilla = delicious nom nom
You have NO IDEA how much I appreciate the tip about the pricier flax seed! I never knew about that, and TBH I kinda hate the way that flax imparts that nutty flavor, especially in cookies! When you are trying to replicate classic recipes, and serve the item to non-vegans who are looking for things to taste weird, the last thing you want is some extra flavor in there that brings attention to the fact that the recipe is different. I will definitely spring for the expensive flax seed, it looks totally gross and slippery and sticky just like a chicken's egg white. Perfect! Thank you!
I was just thinking about you all yesterday! I love seeing Liz's beautiful face and see baby Ruby's progress. You're worth watching too Duncan- that mustache makes you look like a 70s dad. Btw I keep making your vegan egg salad. Now to try making these pancakes! :)
thank you for this recipe, I didn't have the yogurt or flaxseed and I used olive oil instead of canola. and squeezed a half of lemon and only had brown sugar and omg these pancakes were so good. I didn't even need syrup. lol
So glad to see a post from you! But tossing that flour and sugar broke my heart. Could have used it for something else or adjusted the ratios of the other ingredients.
Yeah my bad. I always try to avoid wasting food and compost regularly but I just thought it would be funnier, video-wise, to show me tossing it in the trash. Thanks for keeping me on point.
Believe it or not, even though they say that you should cook them right away, I've found that waiting 5 minutes or so makes the pancakes better. I think that's why the last pancakes came out better than the first ones. Good job!
Liz I've done that double pancake thing many times lol, I'm Super excited to see another video from you guy's hope to see many more!! I know you are busy with the little one❤❤🤗
I'm from the UK so I don't know what brands you have in the US, but I would recommend trying a pea-based milk, they tend to taste good and they've good for protein too. My favourite is a pea and oat milk blend.
I make my pancakes with oat Bananas flax eggs baking soda and the other one baking powder I can remember now the name.soy milk vanilla pinch of salt.i just blended all together . Mmm and a eater with maple syrup or agave syrup. Thanks for recipe.
I tried this recipe this morning, and this is probably the best vegan pancake recipe I have ever tried. Y'all should really try this recipe, thank you so much Duncan and Liz
I use baking soda + apple vinegar instead of the egg. Also, I never make small ones, just big thinner ones. Best toppings: peanutbutter or buttet/powdered sugar
I'm so happy that y'all are back! I've always had issues making pancakes from scratch them turning out pale so I gave up. Box mixes always seem to work, I'll try this recipe!
Can I say that Liz looked cute in the intro, with those bangs? Or will I have to sleep with one eye open and constantly be looking over my shoulder in fear of Duncan? 😁
Your recipe is just about spot on with mine. However, I use vanilla extract. Also, you'll know your pan is the perfect temperature if you wet your fingers, flick the water onto the hot skillet and the droplets sizzle and disappear in about 2 seconds. If immediately, then the pan is too hot. If longer, then not quite hot enough. And btw, if IHOP is your standard then...nope. lol I prefer pancakes with a slightly crispy edge and super light and fluffy throughout. Kinda like a Cracker Barrel pancake. I achieve this with coconut oil. Love you guys 😊❤
my favorite recipe is: dry ingredients -1/2 cup + 1 T flour -1 tsp baking powder -1-2 T sugar wet ingredients -1/3 cup plant milk -1 tsp apple cider vinegar (reacts with milk for a buttermilk consistency) -3 T apple sauce (I usually skip though) -1/2 tsp vanilla -2 T plant milk (optional if the batter needs a better consistency)
Good to see you! And that cute Ruby Bug!! Leaving to spend the winter with our vegan pancake makin' kids. My son-in-law makes the BEST pancakes but he always lets the batter "rest" for 10 minutes. *shrug*
I read a lot of recipes that recommended letting the batter rest, supposedly to let the gluten develop. But I found a longer wait = less fluffy pancakes. There's quite a bit of mystery and variation for such a simple traditional dish
I really like this 3 ingredient/flourless pancake recipe from plantbasednews.org (it is quite a filling pancake imo, so you can't eat too many without your stomach hurting but they're so good!) 1 medium banana 1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats 3 1/2Tbsp dairy free milk Method: blend ingredients, grease frying pan (generously), pour batter into pan, once cooked enough then flip, fry for additional minute on other side & serve :)
These pancakes are beyond fantastic. The non vegan members of my family love them as much as the vegans, and both parts are super critical. Thank you so much for working on this recipe! One question - how long can the flax goop be used when stored in the fridge?
i didn't see the butter, but is that a vegan brand? also welcome back, i haven't seen a video from y'all in ages!! i miss it, and i hope you all are well!!

i always try this but it never works out right! i seem to always need baking powder 😟
@@olimac909
I haven't tried it as a pancake
and I use a high speed blender
that really REALLY aerates the mixture
so I guess I have been lucky
Seeing one of your videos pop up in my feed never fails to bring a smile to my face. What a treat!
It's great to see you two making cooking videos again! Y'all should try swedish pancakes and the patented flipping technique where you hoist the pancake high in the air and catch it with the skillet.

Looking forward to trying this recipe!
As lovely as always. Much vegan love from Mexico. Thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
So good to see you post! I’ve missed you guys! And I’m so excited to try these pancakes:)

You could also try experimenting with Aquafaba (chickpea brine). Some people swear by it. It is used for vegan soufflé like recipes.
I was missing your videos! Nice to see you three are doing well
I just have to say , best pancakes I've ever had!! Thank you for the recipe!! 😃
Great to see you two and the baby!

thank you for this recipe, I didn't have the yogurt or flaxseed and I used olive oil instead of canola. and squeezed a half of lemon and only had brown sugar and omg these pancakes were so good. I didn't even need syrup. lol
Baking soda is definitely key. I also like using oat flour (grind regular oats in a blender) and frozen cherries are awesome in pancakes.

Liz: It's just the aesthetic not the taste, who cares?
*moments later*
Vinny: honestly the only real difference is the aesthetic
I know what I’m making this weekend!! I love the yogurt trick in the pancakes. That’s what I put in my banana bread
Thank you for this !!! Gave up pancakes for a while because each new recipe left me defeated. These are perfect

This was great, can’t wait to try the recipe!
I use baking soda + apple vinegar instead of the egg. Also, I never make small ones, just big thinner ones. Best toppings: peanutbutter or buttet/powdered sugar
baking soda plus vinegar is essentially what's in baking powder, but minus the "double acting" reactivity to heat
I like them with lemon and sugar (family memories) or berries and some kind of sweet spread (like vegan notella or speculoos). 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
@@soyouredatingavegan True, but since I bake bigger ones baking soda just doesn't do the trick when you bake bigger ones like we do.
@@jenerlee but everything tastes better with speculoos. I'll try the lemon/sugar combination. You use normal sugar?

Of course I haven't tried your recipe but I really like Liv B's vegan buttermilk pancakes. No flax and no yoghurt but 'vegan buttermilk'
I use 1/2 buckwheat flour and 1/2 chickpea flour. Perfect consistency, and high protein.
Liz might like kaiserschmarn an austrian dish, pretty much how she eats the pancakes but already made in the pan
