C2 here, i'm not able to perform speedflips, musties, consistant flip resers and so on... Yes mechanics are nice to have but it is more important to be able to relise what your ememy does, position yourself well and to know how to counter someone who tries to use those mechanics on you.
yes positioning is good but you need mechanics in those higher ranks like you need to learn how to dribble and flick the ball and how to do air dribbles and ground to air dribble you might not need to do stuff like flip resets but you do need to learn some good mechanics

Everything’s about fast decision and making decisions without flipping when you don’t need to flip. I be in diamond lobbies rn and everyone doesn’t know how to stay grounded and play right, my highest rank was c2
If you wanna hit GC1 then yeah mechanics aren't as important, but learn mechanics as early as you can if your goal is to hit SSL.
@@hendude127 I have now almost 3k hours on my steam ingame-time-tracker. I'm also a Keyboard player and i got enough experiance to know that my skill ceiling is fairly limited. I'd be fine with getting gc season rewards one day. Thats my goal and more is out of my reach aniways.

I’m d2 and have never speed flipped. Diagonal flips are enough to get you by. It might help, but decision making and game sense are more important than any mechanic

My problem is I'm in plat and I can speedflip so when I do most of my opponents are slower so it hits off me to them and it ends up in my goal😂😭

@@X2rtxThe is a Thanovic video about it, when he was going over kickoffs, basically the direction you flip matters a lot when doing kickoffs. So you were just flipping the wrong way at the wrong time.

You don't "need" to learn anything to rank up (in terms of mechanics). But it may help
when you hit champ you absolutely do need mechanics

I’m c2 and I fell off at the beginning of the season and landed in d2 after placements. I saw so many times that my tm8s and opponents seem under skilled more than half of time they couldn’t hit a basic aerial. That made rethink the skill ceiling. I play on Xbox btw
Thing is there’s always several avenues to improve, it’s not something you need to reach diamond but at diamond you probably will want to know

I learned speedflips when i was in Plat. honestly, I think leaning any recovery mechanic is worth it at almost every rank. sure your not gonna need to know to wall dash or zap dash to win games but they provide benefits on low boost.
Nah plats are guys who just started, it’ll probably always be that way. They’re never becoming more mechanical
If you are interested in freestyling and you’re still low ranked start by learning speedflips they teach good muscle memory for flip cancels

This is a result of the lack of new players grinding the game. Today its just the same people playing the game everyday and they’re all getting better. Champ becomes diamond, diamond becomes plat and etc

Speedflipping consistently at plat. I got considered diamond level by alot of people but still i cant get out of plat ( i dont play ranked much so I guess thats why )
Can you complete the musty speed flip test? I know a guy who thought he could speed flip but he was doing a side flip the whole time.

The thing is you have to understand musty's speedflip kickoff test actually requires to do a PERFECT speedflip, even some ssls have to try a few times before succeeding. You can speedflip without having to do it perfectly, it still works very well, its just tiny milliseconds difference. But yeah I can assuredly say I can speedflip I could send you a clip somehow if you want.

Speedflips remain irrelevant up until low-mid GC (for 2s and 3s). In 1s they are definitely needed in champ and above.

Honestly ive learned to adapt to not being able to speed flip (i play on kb/m) i read their kickoff and place myself where they are hitting the ball last second and almost always get the ball onto their side or off to the side anyways. It's not easy, but neither is speed flipping on kb/m lol. have never found an indepth speedflipping guide for kb/m that actually gives you a true speedflip, only a half ass speedflip which imo is worse than what i do.
I'm gold three and it is very difficult since I'm not very mechanical. I lose every kickoff from speed flippers

Been doing speed flips since bronze one (I'm a loser who thought if I learnt all the high level mechanics in free play before doing ranked it would make me better, I was wrong 😭) my game sense was TERRIBLE and so was my boost management. ANOTHER thing was that some mechanics were hard to do in game But I'm happy I learnt it early so I don't gotta learn it later

I think that at this point most of the mechanics of the game has been discovered and its just a matter of time before lower ranks will become better at them. Till the point that rocket league might add new mechanics. If you would look at the time that the first ever airdribble was scored you would say that that level of gameplay is about Daimond maybe champ today. So depending on how long rocket league will continue in probably few years ssl players right now might seem daimond of champ right then.

If you cant speed flip and hit on the left or right side of the ball on a face off (I mean perpendicular to the side walls) you arent doing it right and you can be read and countered.

As a plat i do see people speed flipping but idk if theyre executing it correct because if i see their name tag bounce up a little from normal height i then know theyre going for a SF kickoff and i challenge with a early jump (not flip) to get the dunk most of the time.

Bro I'm gold and I'm telling you all, yes, if you can learn that then do it because you will get better at the game. I see some people doing it, be worried. Other than that, learn to play better defense and make your shots into the net. If you miss the target less, you score more, you win more games. It's that simple. Learn to dribble, too, it's a great mechanic to learn for lower ranks.

I can confirm that you don't need speed flips in gold as after I learned it nobody uses them
Only a few do and imo, golds (like me) don't have the consistency to use speedflips in kickoffs without conceding possesion.
I think its a better recovery mechanic for the lower ranks especially if they don't have boost. It also unlocks power shots that require a flip cancel.

You dont have to speed flip.. you just gotta know how to react to it. Almost every time, that slight opposite faster guy on the other team? Yeah it very easy to let his extra speed send the ball into you and you send it the other way. Accentually turning his speed flip in your favor
