Correct, you don't generally eat on trains in Japan. However, there are lots of exceptions to this rule. For example, bullet trains, express trains, first class cars, & weekend trains food it fine and sold on the trains. My rule for local trains is that if it's not busy and nobody is sitting near you then eat up.
If I find anything else unique or interesting besides the regular drinks, maybe I'll do another one of these. Thanks!

Lol at first, I thought he was just joking about the whole "Just put your wallet up to it and it takes your money" but he wasn't joking. That man that got something after he got the onion soup used his wallet and scanned it too. That's pretty freakin' awesome! Technology these days! Astonishing.
You can buy lots of stuff in Japan these days by simply touching your wallet to a sensor. No need to remove the IC debit card from your wallet.
