Thank you! You made this easy to get done! My throttle body was dirty after all. While working on this I also replaced the air filter. The check engine light turned off the next day and it has stayed off for three days now. And my car is running great!
This also fixed my issue, thank you! I am not handy myself when it comes to cars and this took me about 30-45 mins to complete myself. This video probably saved me hundreds of dollars instead of going to a Chevy dealer
Great job, i have a 17 malibu that kept gettin a p1101 i would clean the inside and a month later it would come back on. Finally i got tired and took the throttle body off and cleaned both sides i havent gotten a code yet after 3 months
Thank you for your video! So thorough I appreciate that! Happy to see tools excite other woman also! Love your energy. I always feel so accomplished after finishing a car fix!
Thank you!!!!!!! I was getting this code when my light came on. I never fixed my car myself a day in my life. I watched this video about 8 times, when about bought the tools on my first 15 minute break at work and made the fix on my hour lunch. My CE light is now OFF!!! Thank you!!!
Loved your video! Now I’m a mechanic Made $50 fixing a Chevy Cruze, no certificate needed thanks to your tips! Fixed the code like a pro. You deserve more subs! Love your content, keep it up, best mechanic! 💯
I have a 2018 LT Chevy Cruze giving the "Engine Power reduced" and "Oil Pressure low - Stop Engine" errors as well as a Throttle body error code. The throttle body in the older models such as this Chevy cruze seem to be in an annoying spot. Mine seems to be more direct LOL. This video still helps a ton.
Be careful, you don’t want to be pushing on that throttle butterfly. It’s electronic, if you freak up its position, I know how to scan tool to reset throttle position sensor, well you’re looking at $90! Possibly 250 if you mess it up
Thanks for the video. Its Really informative. I have the Same code with my 2018 Chevy Cruze again and again. In canada, they charge $300 just to check the code and clean throttle body.
Thanks so much, I went ahead and changed out the MAF sensor and reset the computer and it didn’t work, so I finally found time and cleaned the throttle body and I believe it works, if anyone reads this, and u get that code saying 4 sensors aren’t calibrated in the range, clean the throttle body, and it will clear the code 🎉
What a great video! Now that my 2016 Trax is out of warrantee I've started doing a little work on it myself. So far I've done the spark plugs and ignition coil pack. I'm thinking that the throttle body is similar to the Cruze so your video will be very helpful if I need to clean it. Thanks!!
Probably wouldn't hurt to invest in a small air compressor and blow all the dirt and debris away from any part you will be opening up, especially on the intake side. Im just trying to help😁
This video has saved my life! I was wondering if you happen to know the part number for the clip you take out around @3:00? Mine came with two plastic spacers, but one fell off as soon as I was trying to install the clip back in place. I figured i would get a head start and order another clip with both spacers in case my light does come back on with the same error code. I know I could get to it in my car, but I'm too lazy lol
You are Too funny! The way you did that Ta ! da! And I've never used an extension before...waaat? thank you you killed me❤😂 And I will fix my throttle body right now thank you!! You're so funny🤣
Those electrical plugs are easy to take out if you push in while squeezing before you pull. Before someone taught me that I'd usually end up breaking the tab off. Hopefully this fixes my friend's car. She's gonna be pissed if she's been dealing with it running like shit for over a year and all she needed was this.
Anybody know what the bolts torque specs are on this when putting back on ? BTW you definitely should always replace tha gasket while your in there . Its only 4-5 bucks .
Oh shoots! I'm sorry! An auto shop might have it I would think? Maybe just ask for throttle body clip? 😅 Otherwise....maybe a chevy dealer would have it and fingers crossed not cost too much :)
The engine fans kept coming on on on my 2017 Cruze. The gas mileage also dropped three miles per gallon. No codes were stored in the computer. The GM dealer where I go for service found the throttle idle compensation was high, and the throttle body was dirty. They cleaned the throttle body, and reset the throttle idle compensation when I was having my oil changed. This stopped the fans from coming on when there was no overheating. The gas mileage has gone back up three miles more per gallon, and they did not charge me to do this. What a bad place to put a throttle body. The cowl gets in the way. Half burried in back of the engine compartment.
EVERYTHING is in a bad place on modern vehicles, it seems like! At least, it's always "that thing I gotta get at" that's impossible to get at without a top-end tear-down!! BTW that's a pretty cool dealer you have, doing that for no charge!
Hello nice to greet you and congratulate you it is not very commont for a woman to be involvet in mechaninics congratulations and thanks for the explanation i dont speak english greetings att victor from mich mexico
I have the same issues, the engine is not stable and car loses power while driving sometime, the code on mine is p0101 and mechanic tell me to replace MAS, do you think cleaning the throttle will fix my problem? Thanks
Tough call honestly as the code could be from many things if you have a scanner that can read data plug it in and you should be able to see if your Maf sensor is reading properly most of the time the code is due to a dirty throttle body hope this helps
I've only done it once when I cleaned the throttle body. I cleaned the throttle body when the check engine light came on. I'd say every time you have to clean the TB that I'd change the gasket, but you'll probably have varying opinions about it. But for $6, I think it's worth to do it if you're already gonna do the work 🤷♀️
Does anyone know how important the little plastic spacers on the throttle body wire clip are? I cleaned my throttle body without removing it and everything seems fine but I found a little plastic spacer laying under my car after I was done.
@@jodelfernandez That's awesome! My wife's car had the code come on, I started with the basics. Found out the dealership installed the incorrect air filter when she bought the car, so I changed that but I still get the code. This will be next! Thank you.
Today the mechanic said it won’t help the clean that I have to get a new throttle body? Do y’all recommend me to clean my self because I kinda know how to fix small parts of my cars but i don’t want to mess up!!
I considered changing the throttle body on mine but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and clean it first and if that didn't fix the issue, then changing the throttle body would have been what I've done next.
I realized that 🤣 and I had meant to be wearing gloves while working on it but I'd remove the gloves to turn the camera on/off then I'd just forget to put it back on 😅
If anyone is suffering from Lag when Accelerating or your car is feeling sluggish, I found a solution. Add 1 can of LiquiMoly (available at Autozone) to the gas tank and clean your throttle body EVERY 3 months. We have a 2017 Chevy Cruze, and we’ve had multiple problems. We had the check engine light come on after the Autostop/start, so now we drive it on L6. And we used to have the Check Engine Light Come On because of the injectors getting clocked with Soot. These cars are Gas DIRECT INJECTION. Horrible design. Do not let your injectors become covered with soot, they are a pain to take out and clean.
@@rubyvillegas7545 Yes. Then, 1.) Buy LiquiMoly 2.) Go to Gas Station 3.) Add all of the LiquiMoly into the Gas Tank 4.) Fill Gas Tank and USE 93 Octane Gas (Shell Preferred) 5.) Go Home and Clean your throttle body. Once you’ve done that, you will notice a HUGE difference.
I’m sorry, this is super helpful, but the way you try and explain certain things, doesn’t make any sense, things like it and that are really broad spectrum
Easy peazy lemon squeezy!!! Thanks. I bought a replacement throttle body and put it on a hour ago... As soon as I started driving the check light went off at 2 stop lights🫣😅🤩

Make sure you “walk” the throttle body on. Meaning go in a Star pattern when tightening the throttle body down
Do you know the torque specs on this one .
Shit dog just go until its tight. I barely had to turn them to lossen them up, so i just put them back where they were

I find your videos very informative. I have 2018 Cruze and it’s gave me all sorts of problems. It all started with the turbo.
Oil changes are crucial! Every 4k miles. Engine air filter, spark plugs and a transmission drain and fill are the best things you can do.

You probably want to use an impact swivel if you're not doing it by hand, that way your socket doesn't go flying and end up down in your intake
Thanks for the suggestion
