- I think every aspiring author wants to be able to write a 'how I got my agent' post, and I'm no different! I've decided to do it in video form. I really hope this gives you some useful tips for securing your own literary agent, but remember, please don't compare your journey to anyone else's.

First, CONGRATULATIONS (again)!!!! I'm just so stinkin excited for you!!! It was so fun to hear your story :)
Second, I totally get the mental health bit in regard to querying. The waiting and anticipation is so difficult--especially for a full manuscript request, which ended in a rejection for my book. I think I'd rather know it's a "no" than not hear back at all, but that doesn't make it easier to take!
Thanks love! You'll always be the first person I trusted to read my work haha! Yeah, it sucks so hard. And it's SO hit and miss. You can write the most amazing book and still not land an agent. I consider myself very lucky. I can't wait to see where self publishing takes you, you're going to do amazing things x
What an informative video. Thank you for sharing your mental and emotional journey during this process. This part, in particular, is the thing I'm least looking forward to. Your video helps give a sense of commeraderie, and talking about hyping yourself up after getting manuscript requests and then the deflation after they were rejected helps those of us on our way to those steps to better prepare for what to expect.

Congratulations I have been querying for 7 years and 4 different books which I have two more coming up nothing but rejections. Plus studying how to write three times a week during this time getting fired from my job working over 60 hours a week

Hi Becca. That was really very interesting and well said. Many congrats on making it. You must be proud. I have been a daily paper journalist and everybody thinks I have it made but they are wrong. Writing a novel is totally different. I have just started the process of submitting and so far I have two rejections. I previously self published because collegues told me to cut out agents but I think they were wrong so I have changed my query letter to include a par saying so and saying that I have attached all the reviews - 5-star by the way. Would you be able to look at my query letter? i would be grateful

Thank you so much! It's honestly been the most amazing experience. I know a lot of people think an agent's job is just to sell your book, but my agent has done so much more than that. She is my no 1 source of support in an otherwise quite lonely industry. She advocates for me and keeps me going on a daily basis. Even if you get a book deal without an agent, I still 100% recommend getting one.
My quo’s where is the list of agents to choose from? Everyone talks about how to get one, but there is no names or further information about a list! My genre is Grief. Ty
Query Tracker is a great resource. You could also check out your favourite authors in your genre and find out who their agents are
