I’d love to see a recommendation for an ultra-lite trailer setup. A two-door JK and family of four means a trailer’s a necessity, as is really keeping down the weight.
Ever listen to podcasts, watch tv? Sponsors (advertisers) fund the programs we enjoy. IMO the XO guys/gals do a great job of balancing their content and acknowledging the brands/products that have helped their journey. They've also stayed loyal to all the brands they've used since day 1 (Toyota, General Tire, Maxtrax, etc.) all those sponsors probably stuck their neck out in the early days to help fund these guys so it's fair that they make videos like this that A) show off their gear, and B) plug their sponsors
If it's welded right there wouldn't be any weak points. You don't want a trailer that's bolted together our you will end up tightening all the bolts as your going down the trail because they will come lose oval out the holes and loose bolts and parts on the trail
thisisntme they're hot bolted unlikely they will work loose! Compare planes riveted together. Ships riveted long before welding and it's not always possible to "weld it right". Cold welding cracks, drop in gas unnoticed in mig/mad/ting oxidises welds etc. MANY times I've seen "welded right" to result in a great weld - then the material cracks alongside the weld! Welding isn't the be all and end all, repeat, look at planes and ships. Welding took over riveting ships for no more than economy.
As Ray mentioned, you guys should definitely check out the Patriot Campers X1 & X2 if you want a small, lightweight trailer at the cutting edge of design and overland accessories. It kinda makes these Schutt trailers look fairly primitive (even though the Schutt trailers look to be made very well). Aussie built super tough, they’re only now just making their way into the US market - being sold through Exploration Outfitters in Oklahoma. Check out: www.patriotcampers.com.au
Really,,??? A vid about pulling trailers? How bout home built trailers, or other brands? I know I know, shutt is your sponsor, but please.. at least fess up to it..
Never talked about cost...or Pro vs. Con...
Great little vid. Looking at one to pull behind my LR4 to put my bike (r1200gsa) in the back with roof tent. Just trying to swallow the costs
Been thinking of building my own Dinoot Jeep styled trailer.
Thinking about trying to build something similar to X3 my self :)
Will be looking forward to the trailers' performance on the South America trip.

The XV3 would be perfect!
I like your videos, they are really helpful to me, thanks for your awesome work!! Have a great day!
Please make one for storage. I find drawers a little out of the budget and looking for cheap solutions
tell me more about the bolt vs weld construction.
felt more like an ad for schutt than tips for overlanding...
B. Stone thus is TH-cam these days. For better AND worse!
You must be new here.
B. Stone lots of useful tips to trailers if you listen.
not really. basic tips. look at how many others in the comments said the same thing. they missed a lot of good points. clearly just a Schitt ad.

Hey Jeff, what type of hitch you are using to hook it up to your rig?
If I remember correctly the xv1 that you have has a water filtration system installed. I would love to see what that system entails.
Next major purchase. Once I get my wj sorted out...
I don’t know if I should get the XV2 or the XV3! Ha.
Still waiting for the South America Series
how are you guys securing your saws on the trailers?
How does the battery system stay charged? Sola panels or do the wheels operate as an alternator?
Probably charges when plugged in when towing.
Cool trailer!
Staying "within your payload" has a couple meanings...
Which trailer has been your favorite? Can't wait for the South American footage!
Careful what you wish for.
Cost please looking at a 171 RPod but you made some good points
I would love to see new Oh hey there video
I dig my XV3
No link to the trailer?

I've always struggled with the argument of welded vs bolted. I've always felt a combination would be ideal. I mean, bolts have their cons, too, right?

It’s aluminum, not steel. The weld is a weak point.
I feel like this episode can be revisited. Other trailers, pros cons, cost, etc
I want to seem them go out there and then need to get the trailer airlifted in order to extend their trip.
I'm waiting for the show guys

The Patriot trailers don't carry near as much cargo and cost almost twice as much.
Good points. I suppose it all comes down to what type of travel you're looking to do.
haha love the Jamo
Sounded more like a promotional video
Hurry up and get the new series out.
I need one max weight 500kg don't no pounds
(Borat) wawa weewa How much??
$9,995.00? How about something a little more budget-friendly
Smittybilt Scout Trailer runs about $6k or $5k if you have your own wheels/tires. We've had ours for about a year and love it.
