I have a channel that I’m hoping to get monetized soon, but everyone says I should apply for Google Adsense before, but there is no way I can. And if I don’t, that will slow down the monetization process. Do I need to wait for the Google Adsense pin letter in order to get monetized? I’m kinda confused. 🤦🏻♀️
Great question! I got 4,000 hours and 1,000 subs on June 3rd and I was approved for Adsense and monetized by June 5th. So for me it didn't slow down the process at all.
But to break it down, this is what I know from my experience. You need to have 1,000 subs and 4,000 watchtime hours to request to be apart of Google Adsense (I don't think you can request for Google Adsense before because an actual TH-cam employee reviews your TH-cam channel and will just deny you if you haven't met the 1,000 subs and 4,000 hours. But I guess you could try to sign up for Google Adsense before and just see what happens!)
Once you are monetized you start making money from ads on your videos. Once you get $10 you can request for a pin in Adsense. The pin will come in the mail a week later and you just have to enter that into Adsense. (I made a video about the pin here: th-cam.com/video/L6YAUA2aTL0/w-d-xo.html)
Then when you make $100 you can finally get a direct deposit into your bank account (there is also a process for this but I haven't done it yet).

Yeah its sooo hard these days. I made my first videos in 2017 and quit and then started and quit in 2019 again. Hopefully this time I'll stay! It's awesome that you keep pursuing!

You are so welcome!!! Just keep working at it until you get monetized. The greatest thing about finally being monetized is that you don't have to keep getting 4,000 hours of watch time every year. It kind of a breath of fresh air after working so hard! I wish you all the best and success!

Great video. Had to smile. It seems we met the threshold for monetisation on the same day, Wednesday, and got the approval on the same day, last Friday. Congratulations! You’re absolutely right. Everyone focuses on the 1,000 subscribers. But it is the 4,000 watch hours that is the really tough target. Anyway, good luck with the channel. It looks great.
