    Details are boring? Ma non, mon ami. Rob is, in my experience, the only online woodworker willing to devote the bandwidth to the nitty, gritty details (and the long and patient process) of seeking perfection in his craft. This is the greatest value in watching this series. Beats the heck out of a standard 22-minute highlights-only show on throwing together a Windsor chair.

    Not boring. Very authentic craftsmanship. Thanks Rob (and Jake)

    Thank you so much for this intense content. Hand tool woodworking for me is a way to slow myself down and be absolutely precise (which is not necessarily in my nature!) - showing the time and attention true precision takes is a valuable learning experience for so many. Trying to focus on the goal rather than the time something "should" take is a lesson for us all.

    I've been struggling with a lack of motivation for working in the shop. Started watching this series on drawers and decided to learn how to do dovetails, etc. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of the items I ordered so I can get started. Been practicing layout and such but not ready to start cutting wood. I've learned a lot from your different videos (sharpening for example) and though I will never focus on the details to the extent you do (I wish I could but details and me don't always get along) I know I will be able to increase my skills. Got to hurry though, turning 75 soon. Not sure how much time I have in front of me. Thanks for your teaching and for your desire to help veterans. Keep it up as long as you can.

    I have watch everyone on your videos in this series and I have learn more from watch you deal with the errors than I have watching dozens of other videos that appear to have no errors. Gives me ideas for how to deal with issues I am sure to face. Thanks for showing it all and I will watch them all to the end.

    Very interested in the detail! At the very least, it tells us how much effort is involved with this level of perfection and that has a value all of it's own. Long live the PHP.

    I think it is amazing to achieve this level of precision! Very much appreciate this level of instruction. Currently working on your bench plans, excited to give this a try!

    Video Quality is only limited to 360p for this episode, bring back the 1080p quality! And thank you Rob for offering these videos.

    Great educational experience! The only disappointment was the use of the tablesaw, why not use the shooting board?

    Why not make a series of video finishing all your incomplete odds and ends projects?

    Apart from my nerves being in shreds watching this series, it has led to a couple of awkward domestic conversations. "What are you watching"? "Rob making a drawer." "I thought you watched him make a drawer two weeks ago?" "It's the same drawer"...."It'll still be done before my book shelves, eh?" " Oh look at that sunset Dear."

    Rob/Jake, did you guys mean to upload this at just 360p? All of your other videos are 1080p. Not sure if it was just an oversight. Anyhow, love the series and appreciate y'all doing this!

    Rob, or Jake do you guys sharpen your own (power) jointer and planer blades ? If so that would be a good video! Or make a dvd, I’d buy one !

    With having extra length would it be better to only make one end at a time? Then you won’t have multiple lines ?

    I can't remember what you said about your plane? For shooting, is it a 51/2 or 6? I'm thinking of getting a Stanley 5 1/2 for shooting. I have a 7 jointing plane but think that will be too big. Love your videos Rob, a true master. And love seeing that even greats like you make mistakes. Makes us mear mortals feel a little better knowing it's not just us haha

    • @RobCosmanWoodworking
      @RobCosmanWoodworking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      5-1/2, but a Jointer is the best for a shooting board. A 5-1/2 is better for general use though. If you’re going to buy an old Stanley, I would say go for a 6.

    How much do you want for the jointer?

  • @chrissmith4933
    @chrissmith4933 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t understand why you’re trying to shoot the perfect angle with feeler gauges. You are trying to match the front piece, so why not use that as a reference? Butting the cut end against the sole of your plane would give you an exact gap along the fence of your shooting board. You could then use a wedge or a shim to give you an exact reference angle.

    Why don’t you add an ‘F’ to the drawer front ‘TRF’ so you don’t have the issue of mixing up the drawer front and back? One extra letter would eliminate one of the issues you had with this drawer build.
