I bought mine a few days ago and I'm very very happy with it. I didn't want to spend thousands in a Gibson so this Epiphone was the key. Anyway, I did some changes/improvements and now the guitar is a rock machine and plays and sounds like heaven:
    - Switched all the wiring for a vintage/shielded wire (pickups as well).
    - Shielded the electronics cavity.
    - Rounded and polished the frets and fret ends.
    - Fretboard conditioned with lemmon oil.
    - Improved the toggle switch with some machine oil.
    - A full setup.
There are some things that can be improved (but then it wouldn't be an Epiphone):
    - The truss rod is a cheap truss rod but it just works. No complaints.
    - The fretboard isn't rosewood but I saw lots of Gibsons (much more expensive) with a clearest and scariest fretboard than the Epiphone fretboard.
    - The poly finishing is hard as a rock and shines as a sun... but it's ok.
    - The sunburst painting isn't the best job in the world.
But hey! It's a £549 Firebird with a pair pickups made in the same way as the Gibson ones, groover rotomatics 18:1, same body and neck construction as the Gibson Firebirds, a nubone nut, etc ... I do not need a Gibson Firebird by now.

Thanks a lot for this video! Very impressive and I would buy one right away, but I already own one of these!
Early this year I had the chance to compare one of the first of these guitars arriving in Germany with a couple of their "original sisters" and like you I was very impressed.
Believe it or not - if I closed my eyes and just play, hear and feel I could hardly tell which was the Epi and which was one of the Gibson´s! OK - its still an Epiphone, but its very very close to the original birds. And it has this vintage neckthrough construction and the CTS electronics works really well. Althoug I love the massive neck of my 58 Reissue Custom Shop Les Paul the neck on "Birdy" is comfortable to play. But its my opinion - I´m the most time "in the Blues" and don´t play in a lightning speed.
By the way - people always say that the QC at Epiphone is not that good - in the case of my Firebird there are no issues! Not one!
So, thanks again, stay healthy and keep on your good work!
    Greetings from Germany!

Thhey gave away a Prize every day of Advent (December)
Each has a Prize like a CD of whoever and aa Sony DAB Radio, everyone got them,
Crap tho as mine gave up in only a few years.
But the reason I won the Jackpot of the Firebird including the Massive Case it cam with.
it was i living in central London so could go to the studio in Edgware, so i got to see where every thing was done in 2008, so I have A untouched
Epiphone Firebird in it's case as I have Started my Guitar Lessons yet do to I'll Health.
and as I am in a Wheelchair most of the time I will start soon, as I have just moved to a Bungalow after living in Kennington Rd
    for 64 years.
I asked a now friend of mine if it's worth starting to play, He said Glen, Just plug in a see you're World Change, The Man was Zal Cleminson, my all time favorite player ever
He's new Band will be out on tour soon so I hope he comes near us in Walton-on-the-Naze.

I don't like the short scale but I've always liked this model. I tried one in the shop and was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail: unfinished fretboard, buzzing frets, traces of glue and no color choice (and I don't want any more sunburst guitars, I already have too many). In the end it's still an Epiphone but at a price that isn't an Epiphone price and in comparison the Squiers which cost just over half the price seem like custom shops. Of course they are small repairable defects but it seems absurd to me to buy something new starting with the idea that I already have to fix it. Other less enthusiastic videos tell of the same defects, so the quality standard is widely low, it's not a single case. it's really a shame.

For clarification top heavy means if you’re not holding the neck the head will dip towards the floor when wearing the guitar and the body will rise up. Not an actual weight question

It's a cool guitar but that amp sounds so ass

Its just the room because the orange that he heard earlier sounded the same way

I blame the room. I have that exact amp (with a 2x12 cab) and it sounds way different in my studio. That being said, the guitar sounds lovely through it, perfect for the rocking blues I like to play.
