What a haul! Bit jealous but smiling for you too! Most of the material you covered, I'm unfamiliar with but I'm paying attention. I started selling books in Sept 2023 and found your youtube channel shortly afterwards. You've taught me a lot, and I appreciate all the time you spend showing us books, zines, etc. I used to be a nurse, but became unemployable after I wouldn't comply with some of the new requirements they put on us over the past 3 years. So, now book selling is my full time work, and your videos have been a tremendous help. Thank you for the life raft! Keep up the great work❤

That comment about the modern art is so true! Look at Jean-Michel Basquiat - his “untitled” sold for over 100 million - looks like something a kid did.
@JB-gt5no There's a book called, "The Cultural Cold War, The CIA and the World of Arts and Letters" by Francis Stoner. He does an excellent job in breaking down this movement and the cultural manipulation that has taken place through the art world for particular reasons, in short, partially to debase and demoralize society... He uses a lot of declassified documents throughout the work. One of the "go-to" books on the subject. What may be obvious to some but maybe not to many is I "suspect" some money laundering and "favors" procured through the sales of the work... if you're also interested, a man named Alan Watt (not the California buddhist) did many talks on cultural revolutions, manipulation, programming etc. That you may find very interesting. He died last year and you really can't find his work on TH-cam anymore but if you go to cuttingthroughthematrix.com you could dig through some past shows and take a gander... sorry for the long comment, this kind of thing has always been an interest of mine but I don't think it's fitting to really put it out in my videos or very fruitful to even have a discussion about these things anymore... thanks for watching

I was talking with a teen yesterday that shared how he couldn't understand how some art that he's seen featured on TH-cam has sold for millions. One was just a pile of buckets of sand that the artist stood looking at with a curious face. Then it fell and everyone clapped and cheered. The mess sold for stupid money. The kid I'm working with has become aware of the ways of the world. Unfortunately it can be depressing at that age. But it gets exciting for them when they learn how to out-smart and live happily outside of it.
@useupwearout5029 yeah some forms of it can be very extreme, like smearing the image of the virgin Mary with vomit, or displaying the cross in a bucket of piss, absolute depravity. It's grotesque and affects the psychy. The performance art like the buckets of sand is just as absurd. Not art but an abomination and inversion of anything good and wholesome. My personal opinion is that the new "counter-culture" in this country is Christianity, not this slop. I won't start ranting so I'll stop there but yeah for a young kid it can definitely be confusing it was for me as well. Appreciate the comment as always Amy there are some very good articles out there as well that I probably saved somewhere on the topic, if I can find them I'll send them but don't hold your breath haha as you know I have good intentions but sometimes get in over my head trying to keep up with everything. I sell a lot of art books and while I don't see the artistic merit in much of the "art" that has been produced in the last 50 years my viewpoint has always been if someone is dumb enough to pay for it I'm smart enough to take their money.
