What a charming tour guide for the hotel. She obviously delights in it, and shares it in a genuine way. I have been a guest there twice, and am always happy to see it being cared for.

Learned more in this last hour, about the Brown Palace . . . than the nine years I lived in Denver, and Colorado. With entertainment . . . you settled for the Red Rocks & John Denver . . . for culture, seems like the Brown Palace lead the way !

The Brown Palace was par none my favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It feels like being taken to the Edwardian Era even though in was built in the 1880’s. Everything about it was magnificent. From the decor, the sense of being in someplace unlike any other, and the entire set up. The glass ceiling atrium is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. There were even rules for guests to dress either semi formal, formal, and casual formality all to add to the ambiance of the hotel itself. The grand staircase what was visible from the top to bottom seemed like something straight out of the Titanic. Coincidentally enough, Margaret Brown, aka The Unsinkable Molly Brown, keep a permanent suite in the hotel. What I found extremely interesting was the fact that bc of the triangular shape of the place, every single room is different. Once mine had a sitting room, a drawing room, a huge bedroom, and a bathroom with the original claw foot tubs! The other time I stayed in the Eisenhower Suite and you could actually see where he chipped the mantle while playing golf(?) in his room. Now that suite at the very top, along with other presidental suites named after presidents who stayed there, was big enough to live in! Strangely enough those suites were above and around the glass atrium. I loved everything about it. Everyday Denver society ladies would have tea and types of finger foods all the while being serenaded by an actual harpist! Like one of those huge harps. Sounded like heaven. My biggest surprise was when my friend and I went into the fire escape on our floor and the railings were the most ornate fire escape railings I’ve literally ever seen! They were gold on the bannister while painted a turquoise type color. So strange to say that even the fire escape was beautiful too. I haven’t been to Denver in a few years but I will *always* stay at the Brown Palace. There’s literally nothing like it in the US. I mean everyone from movie stars, rock stars, high society, politicians, and even presidents and royalty have stayed there. It’s there hotel of choice. Who could blame them? It’s hard to explain how truly magnificent this place truly is. It’s a wonder.

The unsinkable Molly Brown. She was on the Titanic. Now, 2020, bridge makers make them cheaply as possible so, I suppose.

Today’s architecture is a joke compared to the designs of the past. Square footage of floor space under a roof controls all architecture today. No one builds a home with a wrap around outdoor porch any longer. Instead the walls get pushed all the way out to where the porch railings would have been.
