Very bad management by the farmer of this piece of land. He should have done way more to get the water out of his land. Install drainage, make water ways, end so on. Next year this ground will be even worse because the soil is completely damaged now
How do you suggest to handle 200mm of precipation? If you have clay soil, it needs weeks until you can do anything on that field again. Maybe they could have waited. But apparantly not. Otherwise they would never tried to chop silage under those conditions.
There were years, I had to harvest fields in wet conditions. Got the combine stuck in the mud. Also the grain cart. You cannot do anything but try sometimes.

This seems like a scenario where not harvesting at all would have been cheaper doesn`t it? ;D
Could be needed for cattle feed for over the winter or they could just be trying to make some money back on a poor year of farming. The reward must have outweighed the risk somehow
How about the money they put in seeding, taking care of the crop etc? So you think it's cheaper to let it rot and buy it elsewhere? Yeah, that is probably why they still harvest it ...
And if there was so much rain in this place, the harvest will go much easier only 5kms or so further ...

Belle video , beau plan , belle musique et montage au top, ça c’est pour la forme apres pour le fond ... je m’interroge ou est la limite ? l’année prochaine vous mettrez 4 tracteurs devant ? est ce que cette debauche de moyens, et les degats qui vont avec,vaut l’ensilage récolté ? une autre méthode agronomique ne serait elle pas plus pertinente?
C'est tellement bien dit... entre autre J'aimerais beaucoup voir le silo final et la propreté de celui ci..

The soil will be destroyed for several years
Except this type of soil is not affected at all.This happens every single year again and again because of how rainey it gets by the time corn is ready for silage.If this was a type of some heavy soil then yes this would damage it pretty bad.However this is extremely light and peat-like soil and you can do whatever you want with it.Some of our fields are this way and if it rained for a day then you can't really enter that field for a week or you'll get bogged down to the point where only your cab will be sticking out of the ground.But it's a very quality soil with really high yields.No matter how much you destroy it with machines it really doesn't effect it in any way.
But there is still the question, why they are not waiting for better conditions. Or harvest in winter with a combine on tracks?
And more, whats the daily result? 3-5ha?
@@lorevollgas6103 there are no better conditions because from this point on the conditions only get worse.And you can't harvest dry corn for silage

Je n’en sais rien. Je vous invite à lui poser la question. Néanmoins, il faut que je vous informe que dans le secteur considéré (Pessac, Pot-au-Pin, Toctoucau, Cestas, Pieroton, le Barp...) les champs sont des immensités à perte de vue, le sol lunaire n’est pas argileux mais très sablonneux (idéal pour la carotte et le gazon industriel), qu’il n’y a ni pente ni cailloux.
Dans ce paradis des pesticides qu’est la Gironde (vignobles, maïs, maraîchers...) mêmes les mauvaises herbes et les abeilles ne mettent plus les pieds.

La terre là-bas c'est de la tourbe et du sable. Il suffit de reboucher les trou et sa repousse l'année après comme si il y avait rien eu.

Nous avons également des sols sableux sur glaise charbonneuse. Nous utilisons des remorques à Pont moteur que nous avons trouvées (Panien pour ne pas les citer) d'occasion pour parvenir à nous sortir du bourbier. Je confirme que les sol sableux se remettent en place facilement, on est pas marié avec les ornières.

Je n'ose même pas imaginer l'état de la structure du sol, s'il y en a encore une après ça. Après quand on n'a pas le choix c'est comme ça..
C'est un sol en grande partie sableux donc facile à remettre en place 🙂

Je parie que l'exploitation , pratique une agriculture de conservation des sols ! Je plaisante bien sûr ! Une automotrice à caisson avec de très gros pneus où chenille aurait été plus simple et efficace , certainement mieux niveau agronomique et peut être moins onéreux en fin de compte . Belle vidéo quand même et merci pour le partage.
Facile de dire ça, mais qui a une machine à caisson dans le secteur ? Personne... La première machine à caisson est à 300km de là... Donc non, pas d'autres moyens, mais si ils ont fait ça, c'est parceque leurs sols s'en remettent très bien, c'est de la tourbe sableuse
Did they get to finish it all? Does the mud affect the tractor and harvester electronics, a lot sensors must be submerged in water and mud. This is for cattle feed i presume and not biogas.
I would imagine they have finnished it all now , as for the electronics it won’t do much as most of the electrics are above the height of the front tyre in tractors. Some tractors have a slip sensor (how much the wheel spins instead of moving) so that must be going mental in the cab 😂 and yeah I’d also imagine that this is either for a large dairy farm or biogas given the sheer size of the field

Steel tracks probably would have done it easy. Rubber? Not so sure, but better than tires, for sure
@@okeedokee16 Rubber tracks would have done worse then tires. Rubber tracks are terrible once they break through into the mud. Unlike tracks tires will dig down and keep some grip.
@@carterk116 agreed, tracks are great for traction unless its in mud like this, they are absolutely helpless, basically become slicks once they turn once, something like row crops would have been better in this case because there is a definite hard layer underneath.

How will a combine with track be any better than the one in the video? The combine has no issue at all going foward or backward since it can help all the tractors and it dosen´t gain any weight like when you are harvesting barley for example. Because the tractors except the Case dosen´t have extra tyres in the front an the wagon has small and narrow wheels makes them go down much easier, thats the biggest issue.
