three comments, but first thank you for the detailed video here. I just did this on my 21 yesterday so it is fresh in my mind. there is only one clip at the top of the wheel well that has to come out. The one with the center push pin. The one in the back holds the fender liner on and doesn't have to come out to remove the bumper. Second, when you run the grimmspeed harness to the secondary horn, the connector there absolutely does click in place. If it does not just clean the connectors. Instead of electrical tapeI suggest using heat shrink wrap. Finally if you're having difficulty keeping the bumper foam in place during reinstall just put a bit of 3M double sided tape on either end, on the smooth flat parts. 3M has some lighter duty stuff that can hold 15 pounds and it is perfect for this. 🤘👌
I wish I saw this earlier, I had no idea about the second horn. None of the instructions I had mentioned anything about it. Thanks for the vid man your the only one I've seen that's actually been able to help me out
Thank you for this, I had a harness from Subispeed and they were literally telling me to plug it into the wrong place....... they were telling me to plug in the wires into that bottom plug which kept giving me check engine lights and cruise control disabled codes. Additionally they said that id doesnt matter how the positive and negative wires go into the horns. So thank you for being better than Subispeed.
No problem, glad I could help! There’s a lot of factors involved and a lot of hidden differences between the model years. It was a lot of trial & error on my side so I’m glad I was able to show someone the correct way.
2018 wrx STi here, currently getting the check engine light cruise problem :( horn works but I have it plugged into the horn that was on the passenger side. Should I plug them in somewhere else?
hellas looks good on ur car cuz its red on read and huge looking but they sound tinny..get a deeper sound if u used the piaa superior bass horns imo! i think they only come in black tho
Nice video, just a tidbit, if you look at the wires closely through the mesh, there's 2 red wires which you can see the color code though under a light and 2 black wires
Old video but if anyone is thinking about upgrading the horns. Do yourself a favor and get some Dielectric grease to put into the connectors. This will keep dirt and moisture from getting into the connections.
Thank you for doing this tutorial! Just installed mine today and you made it easy for us! No issues with the CEL. I had a hard time loosening the bolt(didn’t have an impact wrench) on the back of the horns tho so I just used the bracket it came with. Did you notice any difference on brightness/darkness of the color of the horns? One of mine looks brighter then the other one is darker. Irritates me but easy fix with repainting. Thanks again!
Thanks man! I know sometimes I over explain everything but I’m looking at it from the standpoint of someone who has never done it before. Much appreciated.
This harness is marked as compatible with a 2016 crosstrek..but the plugs on your car and the crosstrek are different on the passenger horn. They both look like a spade connector 😞
Thank you! I don’t believe the Perrin bracket or Grimmspeed harness is compatible with the 2018 Imprezas. If you’re up for it, I did find this tutorial that explains how to install the horns. It won’t be a direct plug and play but someone got it to work!: www.impreza5.com/threads/upgrading-to-hella-horns-is-so-easy.15070/
Thanks so much for this video. Saved me a good amount of time. I had a 2016 but now have a 2021 so had no idea about the second horn and connection. Big thanks.
I figured it out by trial & error but check out the comment that I pinned on this video. Another viewer suggested using a multimeter’s ohm or Diode setting to determine the positive/negative wires. I hope this helps!

love how you use gloves to keep the car and yourself clean, thank you for the review

clean install! so with the grimspeed harness no need to tap in with the battery just like other harness?

Good to hear! The brackets they came with are totally fine to use. I didn’t notice a difference in color with my set though. Thank you!
use your multimeter's Ohm or Diode setting! Once the to harness end buzz then that's one Positive or negative set! Easy pezzi
Thank you for that!
I just did that... super easy
Thanks for the info,, just got mine and could not find any wiring instructions.
You saved me from a headache.
Thank you
No problem! Glad it worked out for you! Thanks for watching the video!
Good video and those horns are dope, but man they are HUGE. They block alot of air to the radiator.
I just came across this video while losing my goddamn mind looking for the correct plug on my 2020 WRX. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!
Winning! Thanks for checking out the video man! 🙏
Bruh, I don’t even have a Subaru and I watched the whole video lol. Production quality is going up bro, we love to see it.
Thanks bro! This one took a lot of time due to recording. Typically would be a 45 min install 😂
Bruh, those wheels are🔥
Thanks bro! I appreciate it!
Your officially “that subie guy” lol. Awesome video as always !
😂😂🤣 thanks bro!
Awesome video. Love how detailed you are. Horns turned out great 👍
Thanks man! I know sometimes I over explain everything but I’m looking at it from the standpoint of someone who has never done it before. Much appreciated.
@@ronfromportland always better to have more information I think 🤷
you can do a continuity test to figure out which wire is which with a meter
wish these had the bass of a fog horn.
I know its been said already but great detailed video. So many omit necessary details. Yours doesnt. Thank you.
Thank you! 🙏

Good to know, thanks for letting me know!
Not interested in upgrading my horns but your videos are very good. Maybe include the costs like in your other vids.
Thanks so much, man!
Very informational! Does this work on 2018+ Impreza’s also?

@@ronfromportland awesome! Thank you!
Thanks. Your video helped alot...
Thanks so much for this video. Saved me a good amount of time. I had a 2016 but now have a 2021 so had no idea about the second horn and connection. Big thanks.
Glad it helped man! It was definitely confusing so I made sure to document it. Thank you for watching the video!
Should’ve went with the Hella Chrome Trumpet horns. Far louder and superior sound.
Do you need to remove the bumper or is just the grill is fine?
It’s easiest to remove the bumper. You’ll need access to things that are below the grill.
I am a PNW guy also. Wash. State north end..of Lake Stevens.
Practically neighbors! What’s up man!
nice install man. now do mine haha
Easy peasy...with the harness LOL
How do you determine wich is positive and which is negative?
I did trial and error but as others said, you can use a multimeter to determine the + and -
What ramps are you using ??
Just some rhino ramps!
Thanks mate got this done thanks to you
Thanks for checking out the video!
@@ronfromportland was a fun day, horn, headlights and tail lights. Your horn video was the best out there.
@@seanjones6735 exciting stuff! Thank you man. I try to be as descriptive as possible when it comes to these installs!
is this better or buying it from subispeed?
Either or. I would go with the cheapest option, assuming the same brands.
making me think of doing this.
My wallet hates you bruh.
My wallet hates me too man 😂😂
Did you need to disconnect the center stock horn? Can i just leave it plugged in?
Both stock horns were removed to make room for the two hella horns
No more lip ?
I have a lip on there. This video was taken before then. Editing took me forever 😀
Is there an easy way to tell which cords were positive/grounds?
I figured it out by trial & error but check out the comment that I pinned on this video. Another viewer suggested using a multimeter’s ohm or Diode setting to determine the positive/negative wires. I hope this helps!
@@ronfromportland thank you! 😊
Do I need a wiring harness on Honda Civic 10th gen?
I’m not sure if they make wiring harnesses for the Civic but I would get one to avoid splicing into the wires.
Bro, 1long and 1short for each horn. Farthest away is the long one, the 2 inside are the short wires.
Anyone done this to a 22 wrx??
always use the relay!!!
Typically, yes, the relay should be used but Grimmspeed doesn’t recommend using it with their harness.
does the relay make it louder
fye
Beep Beep!
very amateur way of work :(
I mean I never claimed to be a professional 🤷♂️
