    I’m from the US and I fix bike on a daily, don’t own a shop or anything but would have customer bring me there bikes by a park and I would bring my tools. To make the story short was fixing a bike one day and a woman comes and confronts me about saying I stole her bike. I politely told her I was fixing it for a customer and that I can give her there contact info or she can wait till he comes and gets it(5mins later) person comes and woman confronts him, the man not even saying a word just ran from the lady. I later found out he robber her the night before. So I’m not saying he didn’t but can we just have a small hope that he was really just trying to make a quick buck

      @@Nobreakmedia Good on you for doing the work for free. Sure it sucks the time you put into it but shows your true character. Best of luck to you. I think the appropriate follow up question to "they wanted me to fix it" should be "what's broken that needs to be fixed?" - if they struggle to answer that question they probably stole it. If they give a half decent answer as to something being wrong maybe they aren't lying about it being broken. Or calling the person who asked for the bike to be fixed like you did also works.

    Be careful where you put the airtag. Thieves know to check common places like under the seat. But putting it inside of the frame or an accessory can diminish the effectiveness of the airtag’s signal. That makes installation more of a challenge. Good luck!

    • @sundvisson
      @sundvisson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True that, but I couldn't fit it in the frame, plus risky to damage the frame?

    • @profesam8457
      @profesam8457 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sundvisson I am NOT advocating trying to put it in the frame! First, if you damage the frame it’s like you have lost your bike anyway. Second, placing the airtag inside the frame can shield the tag’s sending/receiving to render it useless. It’s complicated.... Where do I put the tag so that it is exposed enough to be effective while also concealing it so that a thief won’t be able to spot and remove it? And if you truly solve the question, you may NOT wish to post your solution or thieves will know where to spot your theft-recovery tech.

    • @profesam8457
      @profesam8457 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mikael Sundvisson I can’t give you a definitive answer because everyone’s bike is different. And you wouldn’t want to tip a thief where to look. There are some people out there who have videos that show some creative solutions. I have seen 3D printed holders that some have bolted on between the bottle cage or an accessory and the bike. Others might have a tag hidden in an accessory or below the frame instead of on top of. Some frames might not block the signal but others would prohibit the tags from being effective. Of course, under the seat is better than nothing. It really is up to you to be creative.

    Dangerous business. Never leave your bike anywhere even locked. If a thief wants it bad enough they will steal it even if it has a huge chain lock. Crazy to confront an unknown person and basically put them on the spot. Maybe they have a knife. Maybe they are violent. If they are bad enough to steal maybe they are bad enough to be violent. Yes air tags are a great way to track. I have one on my bike but if my bike got stolen I’d call the police. Thieves have battery powered grinders now. They can cut through steel! Don’t leave your bike if you don’t want it stolen. Don’t confront a thief. Their next crime may be hurting you.

      @@sundvisson - from the comparison videos I've been watching, it seems the Samsung Smarttags are even better than the Apple Airtags - better range, louder speaker, don't need additional accessory for attaching to keys, etc. I think the only thing that is better is that Apple has a larger network.

    • @NozomuYume
      @NozomuYume 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saurabhsonic Yeah that's the sticking point. The usefulness of it depends almost entirely on the density of the network. Samsung's system will only be useful if they implement it by default in every single handset they sell like Apple does.
      Stolen items usually go to low-income areas. That actually works more in Apple's favor, as these areas usually have cheap Chinese phones rather than Samsung, but criminals will often have iPhones as status symbols to flaunt the wealth from what they stole. So these areas often have a lot of cheap crap phones and then some nice iPhones in the mix.
